Chapter 14: Suspicion

Realizing her reaction might have been a bit excessive, Li Zhaohui quickly forced a smile. "Leng'an, it's you! Come in, sit down. Your father and I were planning to go to the Ye family to pick you up in the next day or two anyway. I didn't expect you to come here on your own."

As she spoke, she reached out, wanting to take Ye Leng'an's hand to express her concern.

Ye Leng'an dodged Li Zhaohui's hand with a quick movement and stepped into the house.

Looking at her empty hand, Li Zhaohui's expression turned awkward. Finally, she closed the door and followed behind Ye Leng'an, her expression strange—a mix of apprehension and embarrassment.

"Who's here?" A lazy male voice rang out as an ordinary, slightly stout middle-aged man walked out of a room.

He froze when he saw Ye Leng'an sitting in the living room.

"Hubby, come and sit down first!" Before Ye Shen could ask anything, Li Zhaohui spoke up quickly. "Look who's here. Leng'an came specifically to see us today."

Hearing Ye Leng'an's name, Ye Shen looked somewhat uneasy, but he immediately plastered a smile on his face. "Leng'an, what brings you here so suddenly?"

A flash of deep thought crossed Ye Leng'an's eyes, making her even more certain of one thing: she could not possibly be the daughter of Ye Shen and Li Zhaohui. No parent would react this way upon seeing their biological daughter. Furthermore, she was no longer the person she used to be; she could feel that there was no blood connection between herself and the two people before her.

Having reasoned this out, she became even more puzzled. According to Ye Li's investigation, she and Ye Xiyuan had been accidentally swapped. Before Ye Li recognized Ye Xiyuan, he must have conducted a DNA test.

If she wasn't the daughter of Ye Shen and Li Zhaohui, then who was she? And how did she end up in the Ye family?

"I just wanted to come and visit you," Ye Leng'an said, sitting on the sofa without a hint of discomfort. She appeared even more like the master of the house than the two people before her. "Don't tell me you don't want to see me?"

"How could that be!" When Li Zhaohui looked at Ye Leng'an, her face was full of affection, and her voice even carried a hint of a sob. "Actually, your father and I have wanted to see you for a long time. But we were afraid you wouldn't want to acknowledge us, so we never dared to show our faces before you."

"Seeing you now, we are truly happy."

"Oh, really?" Ye Leng'an rested her chin on one hand. "In that case, should I move back here? After all, this is my home!"

"What? You want to move back?" Li Zhaohui's voice suddenly jumped several octaves, but she quickly realized her reaction was too intense and hurriedly tried to cover it with a laugh. "Why would you think that? Did the Ye family kick you out?"

"I've already left the Ye family. After all, that is Ye Xiyuan's home, not mine." Ye Leng'an looked at the two of them with a half-smile. "Besides, you are my parents; shouldn't you take care of me? You know, I'm still a minor!"

"Haha, your mother and I would naturally be very happy if you could move back."

As he spoke, a hint of hesitation appeared on Ye Shen's face. "It's just... our house is too small. I'm afraid you won't be comfortable living here."
