Chapter 13: Going to the Ye Family

Class is in session!!!

Ye Leng'an froze for a moment when she heard Yuan Silei's words, only then realizing that, in her current state, she was still a high school student.

Too much time had passed in this lifetime—so much so that she had forgotten she was still supposed to be in school.

"Leng'an, are you still there?" An anxious voice continued from the other end of the line. "What is wrong with you? The homeroom teacher said that if you don't return to school tomorrow, they will have to notify your parents."

"I'm fine," Ye Leng'an calmed down quickly. "I'll be there tomorrow morning. I have to go now, I'm busy."

With that, she hung up the phone directly.

On the other end, before Yuan Silei could react, all she heard was the "beep beep" of the disconnected line.

She still had things to say, but Ye Leng'an had already hung up. She had wanted to tell Ye Leng'an about the rumors currently spreading like wildfire through the school; after all, this matter involved her, and it seemed quite serious.

After hanging up, Ye Leng'an went straight to a fruit shop, bought some fruit, and then arrived at a mid-range residential community.

Standing at the entrance, she reached out and knocked on the door.

"Who is it!"

As the voice rang out, the door was opened from the inside. An ordinary middle-aged woman walked out, looking at Ye Leng'an with some confusion. "Hello, who are you looking for?"

"May I ask if this is the Ye residence?" Ye Leng'an asked directly. "Are Ye Shen and Li Zhaohui home?"

She recognized at a glance that the person opening the door was none other than Li Zhaohui, her biological mother. Or rather, everyone else claimed she was her biological mother. Of course, this was the first time she had seen Li Zhaohui in this lifetime, so it was impossible for her to pretend she recognized her.

She held a skeptical attitude toward these so-called parents, Ye Shen and Li Zhaohui. It was true that she was not the biological daughter of Ye Li and Chen Wanqin, but it didn't necessarily mean that Ye Shen and Li Zhaohui were her biological parents.

Upon discovering that the children of the two families had been swapped, Ye Li and Chen Wanqin immediately investigated the matter from years ago, all for the sake of finding their biological daughter, Ye Xiyuan. However, the behavior of the parents, Ye Shen and Li Zhaohui, was very strange; they never seemed to have searched for their own biological daughter.

In her past life, she had stayed with the Ye family because she couldn't bear to leave her foster parents, so she didn't want to have too much involvement with her biological parents, and ultimately, she never returned to the Ye family.

Yet, Ye Shen and Li Zhaohui had never come to her door to look for her, nor had they even visited her school. She had only met them a few times by chance. Furthermore, it was evident that they treated Ye Xiyuan better than they treated her, their own biological daughter.

"I am Li Zhaohui," the middle-aged woman said, looking at Ye Leng'an with a face full of confusion. "You are—"

In her memory, this young girl had never existed, so she didn't know if the girl in front of her had the wrong person. However, the names did match.

"I imagine that although you haven't met me, you must have heard of me," Ye Leng'an narrowed her eyes, staring fixedly at Li Zhaohui. "My name is Ye Leng'an."

Upon hearing Ye Leng'an's name, Li Zhaohui reacted as if she had been startled, instinctively trying to slam the door shut.

Ye Leng'an reached out and blocked it. "Would you invite me in for a seat?"
