Chapter 12: Yuan Silei

"Agreed!" Ye Leng'an nodded. "However, I don't have time right now."

She didn't mind building a good connection; besides, the old man was a kind person, and saving him would be an act of accumulating merit. His heart condition could only be resolved through surgery. However, because the old man was so advanced in age, ordinary doctors wouldn't dare to operate, fearing he wouldn't make it off the operating table.

After exchanging phone numbers, Ye Leng'an learned the old man's name—Chen Kang.

"Miss Ye, you can contact me anytime," Chen Kang said. "I will be waiting for your arrival at any time."

"I have some matters to handle and am temporarily unavailable," Ye Leng'an said after a moment of thought. "I will begin your treatment in half a month. However, let me say this in advance: my treatment fees are not cheap."

Considering his merit, she could save his life today, but that didn't mean the subsequent treatment would be free. Moreover, it was clear that he did not seem to be a man lacking in money. On the contrary, she was currently a complete pauper. Therefore, she would not pass up such an opportunity to make money.

"Hello, Silei?" Ye Leng'an's gaze was complex, but her tone remained as usual. "Why are you calling me so suddenly?"

Her emotions regarding this former friend were complicated. Once, she had been her best friend. They had known each other almost since kindergarten, having been friends for over a decade.

Yet, this friend had ultimately ended up on the opposite side of her. However, later on, Yuan Silei had once saved her behind Ye Xiyuan's back.

Because of this, she didn't hold much resentment toward this former friend, but she also couldn't continue being close sisters without any lingering tension.

Of course, since they hadn't completely fallen out yet, her attitude hadn't changed drastically.

"Leng'an, where exactly are you right now?" Yuan Silei's voice on the other end sounded anxious. "Is something wrong? Why didn't you come to class today?"
