Chapter 9: 9. Qin Changying

9. Qin Changying. Cheng Que looked at the calm and composed village girl before him in surprise, momentarily stunned.

Seeing that Cheng Que made no move, Shi Ermei frowned and asked, "Are you unwilling?"

If this doctor was unwilling, she would have to go down the mountain to find someone, and then bring them back up to find them... that kind of tossing and turning would be very exhausting!

"Willing! I'm willing! Thank you!" Cheng Que snapped back to his senses. He took the bamboo tube from Shi Ermei's hands and then fished a white medicine bottle out of the black briefcase that had been tossed on the ground.

"Changying? Changying, hang in there!" Cheng Que shook his friend in his arms and whispered, "Come on, take the medicine! We'll be out of here soon!"

After stuffing the pill into his friend's mouth, Cheng Que held the bamboo tube to Qin Lie's lips.

By instinct, the semi-conscious Qin Lie swallowed the pill with the water.

After feeding Qin Lie the medicine, most of the weight was lifted from Cheng Que's heart. After supporting his friend and sitting quietly for a while, he returned the bamboo tube to Shi Ermei and used his own strength to hoist Qin Lie up!

"Then we'll have to trouble... trouble you, miss," Cheng Que said to Shi Ermei gratefully.

Shi Ermei had been standing aside watching them quietly, without asking them any questions! Sometimes, knowing less was safer! Seeing that the man in glasses was having no trouble supporting the man in black, she did not step forward to help. She took the bamboo tube, capped it, tucked it back into her waist, and turned to lead them out of the forest.

The young man calling Qin Lie's name was still weak and powerless, his steps unsteady and light, but he seemed to still have some consciousness! As Cheng Que struggled to support and drag him forward, he was somewhat cooperative in moving his feet.

After walking for about five or six minutes, Qin Lie, who was hanging onto Cheng Que, gradually became a bit more conscious. He felt his entire body soaked in sweat, his inner and outer clothes sticking uncomfortably to him!

Struggling to focus his spirit and vision, Qin Lie confirmed that he and his friend Cheng Que were still in the mountains!

"Zhijiang?" Qin Lie's voice, hoarse from the fever, sounded a bit grating on the ears! "Haven't found her yet, can't... go back..."

If they returned empty-handed like this, they would surely be ruthlessly mocked by those people waiting to watch the show! He wasn't afraid of being mocked or insulted by them, but he refused to hear them say even half a word against her!

"You're in this state, what are you still looking for? It won't be too late to come back once you've recovered from your illness!" Cheng Que shouted somewhat irritably.

Qin Lie's footsteps were stumbling and passive, but his upper body was struggling and resisting!

"If I don't find her, I won't... won't go back!" Why had he run to this desolate wilderness despite having a severe cold and fever? It was to gamble on a single breath of determination—he had to find her!

Because of Qin Lie's struggling, Cheng Que's steps became unstable, and twice he nearly fell to the ground along with him!

Shi Ermei was walking in front and originally had no intention of caring about the messy things the two people behind her were saying; she intended to act as if she hadn't heard! But hearing Cheng Que's panting, overwhelmed voice, she had no choice but to turn around and help.

Walking to Qin Lie's other side, Shi Ermei roughly hoisted his arm over her shoulder and reached out a hand to wrap around his waist!

Damn! A man's waist could be this slender? He really is a man, right?

Shi Ermei's gaze flickered toward the black-shirted man's chest, then toward his protruding Adam's apple, confirming he was a male!

"You... you are..." Qin Lie's vision was blurred due to the fever. Feeling another person beside him, he instinctively became wary.
