10. Personality-driven Girl

"Chang Ying, this young lady is a villager from outside the mountains. Thanks to her kind heart, she was willing to help lead us out of the mountains," Cheng Que explained to his friend. "Let's just call it a day this time. We'll come back once you've recovered! Huh?"

Qin Lie seemed somewhat unwilling. Using what little strength he had left, he tried to break free from Shi Ermei, attempting to pull his arm away from her slender shoulder! But alas, his body was too weak, and Shi Ermei would not let go, so he failed to break free!

"Let me go!" Qin Lie roared at Shi Ermei, looking down in irritation.

Of course, while Qin Lie felt as though he were "roaring," it actually sounded as powerless as a cat's meow!

Shi Ermei felt a gust of hot air blow against her ear, causing her body to stiffen momentarily! She looked up at the man in black who was struggling to widen his eyes to glare at her!

Under this gaze, Shi Ermei felt that this man named "Chang Ying" or "Lie" or whatever was truly handsome! If he had been "good-looking" while in his semi-conscious state just now, the man before her now—with his sword-like eyebrows, starry eyes, and slightly cold, angular features—appeared quite heroic!

However, why did those eyes, which were struggling to focus due to the fever, radiate a message of disgust?

Shi Ermei looked down at her own clothing...

"Miss, please don't misunderstand, my friend, he..." Seeing that Qin Lie had regained consciousness only to vent his temper on his savior, Cheng Que hurriedly apologized! "Ah!"

Cheng Que felt a sudden weight on his shoulder, and before he could even prepare himself, he was knocked to the ground by Qin Lie, who had been flung toward him!

After shaking off the impolite Qin Lie, Shi Ermei retrieved the bamboo tube she had just handed to Cheng Que. Opening the lid, she alternated pouring water into her palms to briefly wash her hands! Then, she casually tossed the empty bamboo tube onto the ground!

This series of seemingly nonsensical actions caused Cheng Que's face to flush red!

This young girl was certainly something else! Pushing people the moment words went wrong, washing her hands with an air of indifference! And... and she even threw away the bamboo tube that Qin Lie had just drunk from! Her entire being overflowed with two words: Disdain!

Qin Lie, unaware of the context, merely raised an eyebrow at Shi Ermei's actions! He thought she was intentionally wasting water just so he wouldn't get to drink!

Hah! He would rather die than drink water carried by some village girl of unknown origin! Who knew how dirty it was! (Just kill him then.)

Shi Ermei stood with her hands on her hips and looked around; this patch of woodland looked familiar. It was probably about six or seven hundred meters away from the path down the mountain. For a man suffering from a fever and lacking physical strength, and a seemingly frail male doctor, it wasn't exactly close!

"You two rest under that big tree first. I'm going down the mountain to get help!" Shi Ermei pointed to a large tree with a high canopy not far away and said to Cheng and Qin, "Don't leave on your own. If you get lost and something happens, I won't be responsible for finding you!"

Cheng Que truly could not walk any further, let alone while supporting Qin Lie, so he could only follow Shi Ermei's arrangement!

Xiong Da and Xiong Er had always been curious about Cheng Que and Qin Lie, constantly wanting to step forward and sniff them, which made Cheng Que very nervous!

Shi Ermei patted Xiong Er's head and "told" it in a soft, gentle voice to stay put and not leave. She said she would bring Xiong Da back in a moment, and so on!

Qin Lie and Cheng Que watched this bizarre scene—one with a handsome face flushed red from fever and frozen in a cold stare, the other looking stunned and incredulous—but both were staring at Shi Ermei, who was talking to a dog!
