Transmigrating Through the Interstellar: My Wife's Glory and My Honor
Chapter 28: Notification
Hua Ran's emotions were quite complicated. In order to scrape together enough Interstellar Credits for him to buy spiritual medicine, almost everything in this house except for the house itself had been liquidated into credits. Yet, Luo Bi hadn't even blinked; if it were him, he definitely couldn't have done it.
Putting himself in her shoes, Hua Ran felt inferior.
After weighing his words, Hua Ran said, "They are all third-grade spiritual medicines. Even if the efficacy differs, it won't be by much. Keep the storage ring for yourself; I only need that bottle with twenty percent efficacy."
Having said that, he clicked "order."
Luo Bi remained noncommittal. She had never consumed spiritual medicine and didn't know much about it. Since Hua Ran insisted on buying the bottle with twenty percent efficacy, she didn't say anything further.
By the time Luo Hang and his wife returned, it was already dark, and both looked grim. It made sense; no one could be in a good mood after being lectured for over two hours. Luo Bi prepared dinner and immediately served it as soon as they returned.
The table was set with simple, nutritious ingredients. While they didn't look particularly appetizing, the aroma of the food was quite strong.
Hua Ran was preoccupied with the fact that the spiritual medicine would be delivered to their door tomorrow, so he didn't eat much. Luo Bi also ate absentmindedly. Luo Hang and his wife were so full of anger that they barely touched the food during the meal.
Guan Zhuting sighed and cleared the table.
It was only then that Luo Bi mentioned her visit to the testing center.
"What? You awakened?" Luo Hang was shocked. Luo Bi had been an adult for over a decade; she was long past the awakening period.
Hua Ran and Guan Zhuting also looked incredulous, staring at Luo Bi in stunned silence.
"Don't get your hopes up too early. I awakened a trash attribute," Luo Bi reminded them, lest they experience a false sense of joy.
"What's wrong with a trash attribute? An awakening is still an awakening!" Luo Hang said excitedly. "Even if I have to sell the house and the land, I will send you to a Contractor Academy. With professional guidance, you will surely become a noble Contractor."
When Luo Hang branched off from the main family years ago, they had allocated him three mu of farmland. During those first few years, Luo Hang was raising his daughter alone and had no heart for farming; furthermore, as a Thunder Flame Warrior, his affinity with plants was zero, making him naturally unfit for cultivation.
Since his heart wasn't in it, he would simply scatter some rice seeds in the fields whenever the season came and let them grow however they pleased. If they grew well, there would be a harvest; if not, he didn't care.
Things changed later. Luo Bi was a picky eater; she couldn't stand those ordinary ingredients that looked great but tasted bland, and as for nutritional supplements, they were even harder to swallow. Driven to desperation, Luo Bi took over the planting herself. In her first year, she planted wheat, and the three mu of land yielded about five hundred jin, which was barely enough for her to eat for a year. Who could blame her? In this interstellar era, a year lasted eighteen months! It was far too long.
After that planting, Luo Bi had successively grown several types of hardy vegetables for their own consumption. For years, the nutritious vegetables the Luo Bi family ate had been home-grown.
"What if I can't become a Contractor?" Luo Bi did not agree with her father's outlook. Seeing everyone's sudden, frantic excitement, she suddenly snapped back to reality, her previous daze vanishing.
Luo Hang dismissed her concern. "If you can't be a Contractor, you can be a Contractor's Apprentice. That way, you'll have security in the future and can live a good life wherever you go."
That was her father for you! Luo Bi smiled, a rather mischievous smile. "Our family has nothing left now except for the house and the farmland. If the house is sold, we lose our very foundation. And as for that farmland—if you sell that too, Father, are you trying to starve me to death? I'm certainly not eating that slimy nutritional paste."
