Chapter 29: A Family

When Luo Hang split from the main family years ago, they allocated him three acres of farmland. During those first few years, Luo Hang was preoccupied with raising his daughter alone and had no heart for farming; furthermore, as a Thunder Flame warrior, his affinity for plants was zero, making him naturally unfit for cultivation.

Since his heart wasn't in it, he would simply scatter rice seeds in the fields whenever the season arrived and let them grow however they pleased. If they grew well, he would get a harvest; if they didn't, he didn't care.

Eventually, things became problematic. Luo Bi was a picky eater; she couldn't stomach ordinary ingredients that looked excellent but were actually tasteless, and as for nutritional supplements, they were even harder to swallow. Driven to desperation, Luo Bi took over the cultivation of her own nutritional ingredients. In her first year, she planted wheat, and the three acres yielded about five hundred jin, which was barely enough to feed just her for a year. He secretly decided that he would take on more missions in the future to earn more credits to support his daughter's education at the Contract Master Academy.

"Once my strong gene stabilizes, I'll take missions from mercenary groups. With my abilities and Father's, we will definitely be able to afford Luo Bi's studies at the Contract Master Academy," Hua Ran stated his position, secretly vowing to treat Luo Bi like his own biological sister from now on.

"We'll talk about it when the time comes. I'm tired; I'm going to sleep," Luo Bi said, no longer taking the test results to heart, and left first.

Luo Hang looked at Hua Ran. "You should go rest early too. Get your strength up; perhaps the spiritual medicine will be delivered tomorrow morning."

Hua Ran nodded and left. Luo Hang and Guan Zhuting were also tired, and they returned to their rooms one after the other.

Guan Zhuting suddenly said, "Thank you for everything you've done for Hua Ran. Both Hua Ran and I will remember it."

Luo Hang patted Guan Zhuting's hand comfortingly. "We are family. Everything I do is only right. Hua Ran is my child, just like Luo Bi."

Guan Zhuting smiled with relief, feeling very fortunate to have married a man of such responsibility.

That night, no one in the family could find peace of mind, especially Luo Bi. After thinking things over, she still felt uncertain, feeling a sense of vagueness and anxiety about the future. In this world where martial strength is supreme, if you lack power, you are merely prey; if you refuse to submit, you die even faster.

Just look at her father, Luo Hang. Such a tough man, yet simply because he was a late-awakened Thunder Flame warrior, he still had to bow his head to the main house whenever trouble arose.

Luo Bi spent most of the night lost in random thoughts before finally drifting into a daze of sleep.

Because she hadn't slept well, Luo Bi had no intention of going to work and continued sleeping when her shift arrived.

Early in the morning, the Luo family's doorbell rang. Two Thunder Flame warriors delivered a bottle of Grade 3 spiritual medicine. After Hua Ran verified the quality of the medicine, he dismissed them and immediately swallowed it. A spiritual medicine with twenty percent potency would take half a day to fully take effect, so he went to his room and lay on the bed to wait.

After much deliberation, Luo Hang decided to inform the main house about Luo Bi's awakening. Luo Feifan was astonished; he had never heard of anyone awakening at the age of twenty-nine. Regardless, it was ultimately a good thing, and Luo Feifan was quite pleased.
