Transmigrating Through the Interstellar: My Wife's Glory and My Honor

Chapter 30: Contract Master's Assistant

With two Awakened appearing in the family at once, Luo Feifan took the matter very seriously. After some thought, he said, "Let Luo Bi be Xiao Yan's assistant. If Xiao Yan can pass the Contractual Disciple assessment, perhaps she can bring Luo Bi into the Contractual Master Academy."

The Imperial Contractual Master Academy had explicit regulations: a Contractual Master could bring two assistants into the academy, but a Contractual Disciple was only allotted one assistant slot.

To put it nicely, a Contractual Master's assistant was there to assist with work and gain experience; in reality, they were little more than servants. Not only were they fully responsible for the master's daily needs, but they also had to be diligent in their duties. If an assistant's abilities were mediocre, it was fine, but if they were exceptionally talented, all their achievements would be credited to the Contractual Master or Disciple they followed. While it sounded unfair, it was the accepted rule in the world of Contractual Masters.

Luo Hang was reluctant. He could barely bring himself to boss his own daughter around, so how could he let someone else order her about? However, the old man meant well, so he couldn't simply refuse outright. Instead, he said, "I'll have to ask A-Bi about this first."

Would Luo Bi agree? Absolutely not.

She had been sleeping soundly and was quite irritated to be woken up by her father. "Is that even a question? Why would I waste my time serving that ill-mannered thief, Luo Yan?"

Well then, Luo Hang couldn't afford to provoke a daughter with morning grumpiness, so he closed the door and went out to decline the old man's proposal.

Luo Feifan was so angry his mustache twitched. "You just keep spoiling her! You've spoiled a perfectly good child." He cut off the communication and ignored Luo Hang.

Luo Bi tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep, so she finally got up. Just as she finished washing up and headed downstairs, Feng Ling arrived.

Luo Bi was somewhat surprised. Feng Ling looked at her and asked, "Which department do you plan to study, Energy or Alchemy?"

"I haven't thought about that yet." Luo Bi smiled and mused, "If I had to choose between Energy and Alchemy, I would lean toward Alchemy. I've only ever dealt with stone gambling in the Energy department and know nothing else, but Alchemy is different. I am quite familiar with the fields of medicinal and spiritual plants."

Feng Ling was well aware that Luo Bi had worked in a pharmacy for many years. After a moment's thought, he said, "Then choose Alchemy. Do you have time? I'll accompany you to buy a medicinal tripod and some spiritual plants."

"A medicinal tripod and spiritual plants?" Luo Hang was stunned. He looked at Luo Bi and then at Feng Ling, somewhat confused by the situation. He was willing to provide resources for his daughter's training, but given their current circumstances, he simply lacked the means. They had already agreed last night to wait until the family's situation stabilized before discussing such matters.

He didn't understand what Feng Ling's sudden visit and offer to buy a tripod and plants meant.

Luo Bi's eyes flickered imperceptibly. Since Feng Ling had brought it up proactively, it meant he intended to pay for them with Interstellar Credits. Feng Ling was repeatedly investing in her; this was a move to bind them together.

Since they were already engaged, being bound together wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Regardless, it wasn't her money being spent, so she wouldn't lose out either.

Having made up her mind, Luo Bi went out with Feng Ling to the pharmacy belonging to the Contractual Master Guild.

The pharmacy established by the Guild on Planet Zhihuang was a building over ten stories high, looking far more grand than other pharmacies from a distance.

As soon as she stepped into the pharmacy, Luo Bi felt a dense aura of Wood Spirit, with faint traces of medicinal scents—sweet and pleasant rather than unpleasant. She took a deep breath, and her spirit instantly refreshed; clearly, the atmosphere here was beneficial to her.

"What can I get for you two?" a young clerk approached, wearing a professional smile.

"We would like to buy a medicinal tripod for a beginner, as well as some spiritual plants," Feng Ling said.

"We have a complete range of materials usable by Contractual Masters. Please follow me this way." The clerk led them to the tripod area, where medicinal tripods of all shapes and sizes were displayed on wooden shelves.
