Transmigrating Through the Interstellar: My Wife's Glory and My Honor

Chapter 45: Registering the Marriage

Feng Ling brought Luo Bi to the General Headquarters of the Garrison Base, where a young, cold-faced Major General named Leng Lie was responsible for registering their marriage. For people of the future, registering a marriage was actually quite simple; one only needed to complete a notarized registration on the military's official website. Only due to the unique nature of military personnel was it necessary to log into the official website of their specific military district base to register.

Throughout the entire process, Luo Bi was very obedient, doing exactly as Feng Ling instructed, behaving exceptionally well.

And why wouldn't she? This was the only marriage she had ever had in both her past and present lives. Since she knew nothing about it, she figured it was best not to make a fool of herself.

Glancing accidentally at Feng Ling's age, she saw he was twenty-five. Luo Bi blinked; she was getting the better end of the deal. She was twenty-nine, making him four years younger than her. Although the average age of humans in the future interstellar era was 300—and it was said that those with powerful abilities could live to be 600 or even 1,000—twenty-nine was nothing in front of those people, but she was still technically the older one.

When Leng Lie heard that Feng Ling wanted to apply to purchase the wedding ring in Luo Bi's name, he was taken aback. He asked Luo Bi with uncertainty, "Are you sure?"

Under the Imperial Marriage Law, the significance of a wife applying for a wedding ring for her husband was not simple. Once the purchase application was confirmed, Luo Bi would lose her most basic right to divorce. Unless there were special circumstances, whether the marriage continued or not would be entirely up to Feng Ling.

In fact, Feng Ling would even have the right to intervene in all her future affairs.

Luo Bi had awakened both her mental power and her soul source power; her "useless" attribute could not completely negate her abilities. If she were to one day achieve success using Feng Ling's status, she wouldn't even have the option to divorce.

Of course, unless Feng Ling agreed.

Leng Lie's gaze toward Luo Bi was scrutinizing, playful, and malicious. The incident involving several women fighting three months ago had long since spread throughout the garrison base. He had heard of Luo Bi's character—insidious, cunning, dishonest, and prone to plotting behind people's backs. Why was she acting so foolishly at this critical moment?

Luo Bi knew the consequences of nodding, but after a moment of hesitation, she still said, "I am sure."

Leng Lie shot Feng Ling a meaningful glance and said nothing more. Luo Bi was giving up her rights, and Feng Ling was gaining the greatest benefit; since they were good friends, he saw no need to sabotage them. He reported it via communicator, which didn't take much time. Lieutenant General Mi Yue and Admiral Rong Che arrived with a full set of documents to take over; procedures that exceeded normal protocols were not under Leng Lie's jurisdiction.

Lieutenant General Mi Yue was a handsome, middle-aged man with a stout build and eyes that crinkled like crescents when he smiled. After confirming with Luo Bi once more, he laid out a series of written documents for her to sign.

It was only then that Luo Bi belatedly sensed something was wrong. She looked up and asked Lieutenant General Mi Yue, "Once I sign these documents, Feng Ling won't sell me, will he?" It felt as if she were signing a contract of indenture.

The man across from her was stunned by the question. He exchanged glances with the other three men, and then, realizing the implication, his fleshy, porcelain-white face twitched twice before he burst into laughter. "Ms. Luo Bi, you certainly have a sense of humor. In the garrison base, no one dares to sell a woman. Rest assured." A sharp glint flashed in his eyes, only to be quickly masked by a genial smile.

Feng Ling caught the subtext and found himself caught between laughter and tears. He was merely securing rights for himself; how could he possibly sell a woman he had worked so hard to bring under his control? What would be the point of all his efforts?

Leng Lie let out a scoffing, mocking sound. "What are you thinking?"

Leng Lie seemed to have a prejudice against her. Luo Bi simply smiled and lowered her head to continue signing.

Once the documents were signed, the two generals took them and left. Leng Lie opened the wedding ring webpage on the official website and turned the screen toward Luo Bi. "Pick one!" he said, his eyes drooping lazily in an air of indifference.
