Chapter 46: Supreme Crystal Ring

Luo Bi glanced naturally at the screen. They were standard men's rings in a uniform rose gold color, inlaid with solid-colored micro-crystals in various styles. Her reflexive search for the price gave her a fright; they were all actually priced above 80 million.

Damn, astronomical prices.

Glancing sideways at Leng Lie, she couldn't help but speak up: "The prices are too high. Aren't there any cheaper ones?"

She had heard from Zhang Hui that a major-level officer's monthly salary was 100,000 Interstellar Credits, which was worlds apart from 80 million.

"There are ordinary styles that are definitely cheaper. Do you want one?" Leng Lie spoke to Luo Bi with a half-smile, but his peripheral vision was fixed on Feng Ling. Supreme Crystal Rings represented a husband's power; what were ordinary wedding rings? There was no comparison between the two. It would be strange if Feng Ling actually wanted one.

Just as Leng Lie expected, before Luo Bi could even react, Feng Ling curled his lips into a smile and said to her, "According to Imperial law, if the husband is a military officer and the wife applies to purchase a wedding ring in her own name for him, the government will cover the cost. We only need to pay a 500,000 deposit."

Through Luo Bi's various reactions, Feng Ling could see that she didn't quite understand the significance represented by the Supreme Crystal Ring. Since Luo Bi didn't ask, he naturally wouldn't be so blunt as to tell her.

There was actually such a good deal? Luo Bi stared at the rings on the screen with skepticism. The Empire's marriage laws were indeed quite humane.

After a moment of daze, Luo Bi shifted her position and asked Feng Ling, "What kind do you like?" Imperial marriage was quite strange; the wife had no part in the wedding ring, only the husband was eligible to wear one. Of course, the meaning represented by these rings varied.

Feng Ling selected a few styles according to his own preferences, all focusing on simple, low-key luxury: "These few are alright."

Since the purchase was in Luo Bi's name, Feng Ling gave the decision-making power to her.

Luo Bi compared them repeatedly and pointed to the one that looked most pleasing to her eye—a ring set with two diamond crystals—and said, "This one! What do you think?" Seeking the opinion of the person involved was the bare minimum of respect.

Feng Ling took a look: "It's very good."

"Then it's this one," Luo Bi decided.

Leng Lie tapped "confirm" on his light computer, and Feng Ling scanned the screen with his terminal; the payment was successful. Leng Lie said, "You should receive it in two hours."

With the marriage formalities completed, Feng Ling greeted Leng Lie and prepared to leave. Leng Lie stood up to see them out.

As Luo Bi walked ahead, Leng Lie drew close to Feng Ling, his gaze falling on Luo Bi as he whispered, "Sorted that out so quickly? How did you do it? Confess truthfully." Since Feng Ling and Luo Bi's marital relationship had been established, he was simply curious to ask; otherwise, he wouldn't have gone through the unnecessary trouble of seeing them out.

Feng Ling understood Leng Lie's meaning instantly. He moved slightly away from Leng Lie's proximity with a look of disdain and teased, "If I said it was served on a silver platter, would you believe me?"

Feng Ling knew Luo Bi could hear him, so he wasn't worried. It was better if she heard that he was the one who had first proposed marriage, though Luo Bi hadn't expressed a stance then. One thing was one thing; the past was void. This time, however, it was Luo Bi who had come to his door to ask for the marriage, not him taking the initiative. He hoped Luo Bi would remember this clearly and, because of it, cherish him, Feng Ling.

Luo Bi and the two men behind her were only a few steps apart, making it difficult not to hear their conversation. With her back to them, her eyes flickered; Feng Ling was indeed quite blunt.

Leng Lie let out a "tsk": "I'm returning to the Imperial Star the day after tomorrow. Do you want to take my airship?"
