Transmigrating Through the Interstellar: My Wife's Glory and My Honor
Chapter 44: No Divorce Allowed
Those who came knocking all had backgrounds. Luo Bi knew that brushing them off once or twice might work, but after that, it would be useless; lately, she could sense their restless intentions.
Luo Bi felt very uneasy. After a fierce internal struggle, she finally decided to marry Feng Ling. Even if it made her feel uncomfortable, she could only compromise with fate.
Luo Bi had made her decision, but Feng Ling had only mentioned it once that day and had made no further move, making it no different from a joke.
At this moment, Luo Bi regretted it. Why had she been so foolish as to agree when Feng Ling brought it up? Even saying she would "consider it" would have left her a way out! Now that he seemed to have lost interest, what was she supposed to do?
After a sleepless night, Luo Bi decided to go all in. If one does not act for oneself, heaven and earth will destroy them. She decided to go to him and ask.
Lunchtime was during the midday break, so Luo Bi had Guan Zhuting take her to the military base.
Guan Zhuting waited downstairs while Luo Bi went up alone and knocked on the door of Feng Ling's apartment dormitory.
"Feng Ling."
The man was tall and handsome. Standing at the door, he looked gallant with a sharp gaze, exuding a powerful, elite aura. Seeing it was Luo Bi, he looked surprised. "Why did you come over? Is something wrong?"
Luo Bi suddenly felt the urge to retreat, but knowing she couldn't, she stood her ground. She looked at Feng Ling nervously and asked with her head lowered, "Were you joking that day when you said those things?" He should be able to understand what she meant, right?
Feng Ling frowned slightly. After a moment of thought, he replied somewhat coldly, "No."
Feng Ling had been serious at the time. Luo Bi quickly glanced at him a few times; feeling uncertain, she looked up. "If you are willing, we can get married immediately."
Feng Ling looked at her expressionlessly. After a few seconds, he spoke. "Come in." He stepped aside to make room.
Her heart skipped a beat. Was this an agreement, a refusal, or was he letting her in to negotiate terms? With a complex mix of emotions, Luo Bi walked into Feng Ling's apartment, and the door closed behind her.
"Sit down. Would you like something to drink?" Feng Ling's attitude softened slightly.
Luo Bi was still very nervous. Sitting on the sofa, she spoke with difficulty, "I'm not thirsty." Her mind was currently a chaotic mess, waiting only for Feng Ling's answer. If he refused, what would she do?
Having missed the golden opportunity, she had already lost the initiative.
Feng Ling sat opposite Luo Bi. "Have you thought it through?"
Luo Bi nodded slightly and gave a low "Mhm." She had thought about it day and night; at this moment, she was burning her bridges.
Feng Ling raised an eyebrow and stared at Luo Bi for a long while before saying with a smile, "I have one condition."
Luo Bi slowly raised her head. The man's appearance, ability, and military rank were all quite outstanding, seemingly giving him the capital to negotiate. Crucially, she needed him to protect her under his wings. "Go ahead."
Feng Ling became serious. "Don't be nervous. My condition is actually very simple. Regardless of your motives for marrying me, once we are married, you are not allowed to divorce me as long as I have done nothing wrong."
It was only natural for Feng Ling to use his advantage to maximize his interests. Many people who awakened their mental and soul powers would seek higher connections as soon as they achieved some success; he was eliminating potential risks for the future.
Luo Bi understood his reasoning perfectly. After a brief hesitation, she said, "Okay, I agree."
Feng Ling had expected her to go back and think about it for a while; her quick response was unexpected. He stared at her with raised eyebrows for a moment, then said with a smile, "Then let's go! Let's go register the marriage."
Delay breeds change, and Feng Ling did not want any complications.
Luo Bi nodded obediently. She first contacted Guan Zhuting to tell her to go home, and then followed Feng Ling out the door.
