Chapter 257: Meeting an Acquaintance

In the evening, Gu Yang arrived punctually at the meeting point agreed upon with the Special Operations Team.

It was the first time he had heard of such an organization in the capital, but after witnessing Kong Nian's methods, it seemed that nothing was surprising anymore.

He glanced at the time; a few minutes had already passed since the appointed hour.

However, he was in no rush and waited patiently.

After another ten minutes or so, the sound of footsteps finally approached from outside.

Gu Yang stood up and looked toward the entrance.

He had already formed a mental image of what the person might look like.

But when he saw the person walking in, he was instantly stunned.

It was completely unexpected.

"Mr. Du?!"

He naturally knew what kind of work the Special Operations Team was responsible for, so it was even harder for him to connect the Du Jinsong he knew with such a person.

But the fact was right before his eyes: the captain of the Special Operations Team was this "acquaintance."

Du Jinsong was equally caught off guard that the person providing the clues would be Gu Yang, and he froze for a moment as well.

"Yes, it's me. So, Mr. Du is actually the captain of the Special Operations Team?"

By now, Du Jinsong truly had no need to hide it. "Let me introduce myself again. My name is Du Jinsong, and I serve as the captain of the Special Operations Team."

Having said that, he proactively extended his hand toward Gu Yang.

"Mr. Gu, they said you were looking for me? Do you have some kind of clue?"

Gu Yang asked, "You know Miss Kong?"

Gu Yang's eyes flickered slightly, lost in thought.

"If I'm not mistaken, the two dangers you encountered should both be related to the disappearance case. And you're quite lucky; it was only because you happened to run into Kong Nian that you were able to turn danger into safety."

While Du Jinsong felt relieved for him, he was instead wondering whether he should tell Su Yan about this.

If Su Yan knew, she would surely agree to help them eliminate the menace, wouldn't she?

Gu Yang remained noncommittal; he did indeed owe Kong Nian a massive favor.

"Mr. Gu, you mentioned just now that you had an idea?" Du Jinsong brought the conversation back to the main topic.

Gu Yang said, "I have an idea, but I don't know if it's feasible. I'll state it, and you can judge for yourselves."

He was not an exorcist and did not understand those matters, so he couldn't be sure if his thinking was too simplistic.

"Alright, go ahead." Originally, Du Jinsong hadn't held much hope when he came here, but the fact that the person was Gu Yang gave him a glimmer of expectation.

Gu Yang organized his thoughts in his mind first before speaking.

"Since you want to catch the thing that is harming the people and save the eight kidnapped individuals, why not pretend to be ordinary people to lure the target out?"

Du Jinsong's eyes lit up. How had they failed to think of such a simple method?

As expected, concern had clouded their judgment.

Gu Yang continued to supplement, "I encountered it twice in just three days; one can imagine how desperate the target is."

"It's feasible." Du Jinsong was visibly more excited; regardless of whether it succeeded, at least they would no longer be sitting ducks.

Gu Yang's tense nerves relaxed. His intention had not been in vain; being able to help them was a good thing.

"Tell me the details of those two incidents again, and I will arrange for implementation as soon as possible," Du Jinsong said, pulling himself together with full focus.

Gu Yang cooperated fully.

By the time the two finished talking, the sky had turned completely dark.

Du Jinsong offered to drive him back, but Gu Yang refused.

He couldn't exactly run into danger three times in a row, and besides, his dormitory was less than a few minutes' walk from here.

However, after bidding Du Jinsong farewell, he turned back.

"Mr. Du, please do not tell Yan Yan about the dangers I encountered."

"Why?" Du Jinsong blurted out.

Gu Yang's expression was serious. "I don't want Yan Yan to worry."

Du Jinsong frowned. Rather than worrying, if Su Yan knew, she would certainly be able to protect him better.

"I think there's nothing wrong with Su Yan knowing," he suggested tentatively.

But Gu Yang still refused firmly.

Seeing his persistence, Du Jinsong thought of a possibility.

Was it possible that he still didn't know about Su Yan's current situation?!

"I promise you, I will absolutely not mention it in front of Su Yan."

The implication was that he indeed would be meeting Su Yan.

Gu Yang felt a weight lifted. "Also, how much do you know about that Miss Kong? You said she is from the Kong family; would it be convenient to tell me where that Kong family is located?"

To investigate what relationship Kong Nian actually had with Kong Xiangrou and Su Yan, he first had to figure out where she lived.

Du Jinsong was visibly stunned, clearly not expecting him to be interested in Kong Nian's background.

"That isn't particularly inconvenient."

Because of Su Yan, he wasn't especially guarded against Gu Yang, not to mention that Gu Yang had helped him so much this time.

Gu Yang carefully noted down the location Du Jinsong provided.

It wasn't a completely specific address, just a general direction.

"The Kong family has actually been living in seclusion for a long time; this is all the information we have. If you want to know anything else, I can try asking for you," Du Jinsong said, truly not hiding anything.

Gu Yang was already very grateful. "Thank you, Mr. Du, but there's no need to trouble you."

This would save a lot of time and give him a general direction.

Watching his departing figure, Du Jinsong had already begun planning his proposal.

The most important part of this plan was deciding who would act as the bait to lure out that menace.
