The competitive witch never admits defeat.

Chapter 30: The Leader
It was the same colored halo, with a diameter nearly reaching one and a half meters, but it was much dimmer than the halos of Vasida and Sylph.
A guess immediately formed in Moran's mind. Taking advantage of the fact that no other little witches had stepped forward yet, she asked
"Headmistress! Does the color of the energy halo represent the talent type, and the brightness represent the level of energy fullness, right?"
"That's correct!" Amisha confirmed her observation.
"Then what does the size of the halo represent?" Moran asked.
"Level," Amisha said. "One level per half meter. A halo with a diameter within half a meter is an apprentice witch, half a meter to one meter is a junior witch, and so on. Once you reach the peak level and above, the energy converges, making it impossible to tell. However, level only represents the tier of power reached; it does not represent actual strength. You cannot judge strength solely by the halo's level."
Moran's heart jolted. Did this mean that while the other little witches were still normal apprentices, her, Vasida, and Sylph's power levels were already comparable to those of senior intermediate witches?
Was this the gap between a witch and a mage?
"Once the Book of Witches is completed, there is a book titled *Traces of Energy* in the first-year reading list that provides a detailed explanation; it will answer all your questions. Now, let's perform the magic infusion on the other eye!" Amisha said.
Moran noted the book title, pulled her thoughts back, and continued the magic infusion on her left eye.
Soon, the vision of both eyes was unified.
"There! That's it. The first infusion was a success. As long as you don't use a large amount of disordered mana to shock your eyeballs all at once, it won't cause irreversible blindness," Amisha said. "From now on, simply activate your energy vision according to your own tolerance. Once you become proficient, you won't need to guide mana with your fingertips; any part of your body can output mana. When you can use enough mana to turn the revealing paper black without any discomfort, your eyes will possess permanent energy vision."
"Thank you, Headmistress!" Carrying her brand-new vision, Moran walked carefully back to her seat.
"How is it? What does it feel like?" Vasida asked. "Your eyes look deeper than before!"
The other little witches also pricked up their ears.
Moran gave a rough description of her sensations and what she saw.
"An energy halo that doesn't obstruct your vision? That's amazing!"
Vasida looked at Sylph. "Let's go try it too!"
"Mhm!"
The two stood up and walked toward Ms. Amisha together.
The other witches were also eager to try, lining up one after another.
After adjusting for a moment, Moran began to observe her own mana. Previously, she only knew what color a certain amount of mana would appear as on the revealing paper; this time, she wanted to see exactly how much mana that represented under energy vision.
After Vasida and Sylph activated their energy vision, they not only saw Moran's energy halo but also saw her constantly mobilizing mana, wondering what she was doing.
"I want to figure out the relationship between mana output and the color changes on the revealing paper. That way, even without the paper in the future, I'll know exactly how much mana to use for magic infusion. I can also further link my midday results on the revealing paper to mana control, improving my ability to manipulate it!"
Moran shared her thoughts happily and without reservation. "The Headmistress said the brightness of the halo represents the fullness of mana. When we use magic, if we observe the changes in the halo's brightness, we can intuitively and more accurately control our mana state, detecting it before mana depletion affects our physical condition."
Vasida and Sylph: "..."
After activating their energy vision, all they had thought about was looking around at everyone's halos; they hadn't even considered that it could be used for training like this.
Crucially, they had to admit that Moran's words truly moved them.
Especially Vasida—when her Devouring Stomach lacked energy, it would consume her own mana. That was the reason she always fell into a state of hunger so quickly. If she could precisely master her mana state, she could better manage her eating schedule.
The little witches still waiting in line to activate their energy vision also heard Moran's passionate sharing. At that moment, they all shared a common thought: "As expected of Moran!"
Moran didn't pay much mind to her companions' amazed and complex gazes. At this moment, her eyes held only learning, more learning, getting stronger, and getting even stronger!
After speaking with Vasida and Sylph, she returned to her focused research on her mana. With energy vision, she was like a tiger with wings.
Seeing her like this, how could Vasida and Sylph sit idly by?
Of course, it was impossible!
In their energy vision, Moran's halo was a whole size larger than theirs! Their mana capacity was already lagging behind Moran's; if they weren't diligent in their magic practice, were they waiting to be left far behind?
The familiar scene played out again.
When the little witches who had activated their energy vision returned, they found they couldn't see Moran and the others' energy halos at all. This was the gap in energy levels.
The stronger people were already working hard; what excuse did they have not to work hard? If they ran behind the strong, they could grow faster too, right?
Although Amisha had been supervising the little witches during their first activation to prevent irreversible accidents, she had also noticed what had just happened with Moran and the others.
Watching the little witches, one by one, successfully activate their energy vision and return to their seats to begin studying the relationship between halo changes and magical power, Amisha finally understood how that scene had occurred before the lesson started.
It was all because this year's class had produced an incredibly hardworking little mage who was leading all the other little witches into a competitive frenzy.
Amisha looked toward the middle of the first row at the purple-haired little mage with the resolute and serious gaze.
This was the role of a leader!
She felt gratified once again by the excellent learning atmosphere among the little witches.
In the past, before class ended, Amisha would always tell the little witches things like, "Practice what you learned today more after class," or "Practice more now so you'll suffer less after graduation; you must be responsible for your own lives."
Today, as class ended, she instead said
"Practice magic with moderation. At first, activating energy vision too frequently may cause eye strain and headaches. Be careful not to use your magical power until it is completely exhausted; at the latest, when the halo dims to the point where you can no longer distinguish its original color, you must stop and wait for your mana to recover! Before practicing, make sure to prepare breadfruit, just in case. Finally, take it slow, do not be impatient! Maintain a good state; tomorrow we will learn how to make the Book of Witches."
In Amisha's view, this batch of little witches no longer needed her to urge them; instead, she needed to control them so they wouldn't work too hard and affect their health.
