Chapter 17: The Sound of Fighting Within the Dark Forest

Brother Snake looked at the foot stepping on his chest, his gaze shifting upward to Chu Muyue, who wore a leisurely, faint smile on the corners of her mouth. His eyes were bloodshot, making him look somewhat hideous.

Chu Muyue slowly crouched down. With a flick of her wrist, a tiny silver needle appeared between her fingers. Her tone was very calm. "Brother Snake, originally, I didn't want to do this. But since you insist on making trouble for me, I have no choice but to make you pay a price!"

"What... what are you going to do!" Looking at the silver needle in Chu Muyue's hand, Brother Snake's body involuntarily shuddered, and he asked with a trembling voice.

"You will understand soon enough!" An evil smile appeared at the corners of Chu Muyue's mouth as her gaze shifted downward, landing on Brother Snake's crotch. "People like you thugs must really enjoy doing *that* kind of thing. In that case, I'll just take that precious treasure of yours away!"

Upon hearing this, Brother Snake's pupils instantly constricted. She was going to destroy his manhood!

The silver needle in Chu Muyue's hand descended rapidly, piercing into his lower abdomen.

Chu Muyue withdrew the needle, turned her head to look at the sky outside, and saw that it was growing dark. After thinking for a moment, she realized she had to head back, otherwise her father would worry.

"Stay here nicely!" Chu Muyue kicked Brother Snake in the head. Brother Snake felt his head spin, his eyes rolled back, and he passed out.

Chu Muyue walked over to her schoolbag, picked it up, slung it back onto her shoulders, and turned to leave the abandoned factory.

Walking outside the factory, she saw that Red Hair's van was still there. Her lips curled slightly; those thugs must have been so terrified that they forgot to drive the vehicle away.

"Not bad!" Chu Muyue opened the van and saw that the keys were still inside. Very satisfied, she climbed in.

In her past life, right after graduating from university and before her father was diagnosed with his illness, she had specifically gone to get her driver's license. However, she hadn't taken the final exam before Chu Ziming's condition was discovered, preventing her from obtaining the license. Still, she could still drive this van; it was a manual, just the same.

Chu Muyue drove the dilapidated van, chugging along the uneven small road.

However, just as Chu Muyue was about to drive into a forested mountain area, the van let out a "boom" sound. The vehicle jolted violently and came to a halt.

Chu Muyue blinked, looked at the van, and stared at the sky speechlessly. "What a piece of junk, it broke after only driving a little way! It must have been stolen!"

Since the van was broken, Chu Muyue could only pick up her schoolbag, jump out, look around, and rub the space between her eyebrows, letting out a helpless sigh.

Taking a deep breath, Chu Muyue put on her schoolbag and began running quickly along the path into the forest.

Inside the forest under the cover of night, it was even darker. From time to time, the rustling of swaying branches and the whistling of the wind drifted through the air.

Fortunately, having been reborn, Chu Muyue's courage had grown; even if someone were to suddenly jump out to scare her, she wouldn't feel any fear.

However, after running for two or three minutes, she suddenly paused, turned her head toward a certain direction, and frowned.

"The sound of fighting over there?" Chu Muyue muttered to herself. Recalling the situation in the factory and that group of mysterious people who had killed Brother Snake's subordinates, she raised an eyebrow. "Could it be those people?"

According to the description provided by the thugs earlier, there should be people from her own country among them, while the pursuers might not be from her country.

Otherwise, why would they use the lives of thugs to threaten people?
