Chapter 7: The Thugs in the Alley

After school, Chu Muyue’s arm was being held by a cute girl with a ponytail.

The girl was Du Jingwen, Chu Muyue’s closest classmate during middle school and her best sister after growing up.

When she was borrowing money everywhere to treat her father’s illness, Du Jingwen had handed over the money in her own savings account without a second thought the moment she heard about it.

Du Jingwen’s generosity was something Chu Muyue still could not forget, and she was deeply grateful to have such a loyal sister who would go through fire and water for her.

“Muyue, why don’t I walk you home? We can do our homework together, and I’ll teach you the lessons you missed over the past month!” Du Jingwen said to Chu Muyue with a caring smile.

Chu Muyue was just about to agree when she saw Hong Yushi standing among the crowd with a group of strangely dressed hoodlums. Her eyes lowered, and a smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.

“I don’t have time today; my dad is taking me to a relative’s house, so let’s do it tomorrow!” Chu Muyue declined with a smile.

Upon hearing this, Du Jingwen nodded. “In that case, let’s do it tomorrow. I’ll find you tomorrow to do our homework together!”

“Okay!” Chu Muyue waved at Du Jingwen with a smile. “Then I’ll be heading home first. Take care on your way!”

“See you tomorrow!” Du Jingwen also waved at Chu Muyue before turning to leave.

Watching Du Jingwen’s retreating figure, Chu Muyue turned around, her gaze sweeping over the group of hoodlums moving away from the crowd.

If she wasn’t mistaken, these hoodlums must have been brought by Hong Yushi to cause her trouble.

But did they really think these hoodlums could do anything to her?

Chu Muyue chuckled, acting as if nothing were the matter, and headed toward the road home.

Standing in the crowd, Hong Yushi watched Chu Muyue’s retreating back, a sinister smile appearing on her lips. “Chu Muyue, don’t even think about escaping my grasp today. I’m going to make you realize what I, Hong Yushi, am capable of!”

Xie Jiarong and Huang Yaru grabbed Hong Yushi’s hands worriedly, urging, “Yushi, maybe we shouldn’t follow them!”

“Have you forgotten how she insulted us this morning?” Hong Yushi turned her head and glared angrily at the two of them. “I must take revenge for this! I need to watch her be ruthlessly ravaged by those hoodlums to truly settle the score from this morning!”

Xie Jiarong and Huang Yaru were very hesitant, but they had no choice but to follow behind Hong Yushi.

The road to Chu Muyue’s home was somewhat long, and to take a shortcut, she walked through a very secluded street of old houses.

This provided the perfect opportunity for those hoodlums to make their move.

However, it wasn’t the hoodlums who jumped out to scare her; she was the one who stopped, turned around, and called out to the empty space behind her, “You’ve been following me for so long, why don’t you come out and show yourselves?”

The voice paused for a moment. From both sides of the intersection Chu Muyue had just passed, a group of men walked out. They were dressed strangely, had dyed hair, and some even had tattoos visible on their bodies. They walked toward Chu Muyue with fierce and menacing expressions.

Chu Muyue gripped the straps of her schoolbag with both hands, her expression calm as she faced these aggressive hoodlums.

The leader, a young man with dyed red hair, approached with four or five other youths behind him. Their eyes were filled with greed and lechery.

“I didn’t expect it, I really didn’t expect you to be such a beauty. The boss is really good to us brothers, actually letting us handle this!” The red-haired youth had a lecherous smile on his face as he sized up Chu Muyue, his eyes full of greed.

Chu Muyue’s expression remained calm, showing no signs of fear. Standing in the middle of the delinquent youths, one could not tell at all that she was about to face danger.
