Chapter 48: The Fists are Hard, and the Wand is Not Soft Either
Snape left the wailing Malfoy behind and headed toward the first-year dormitory. Goyle and Crabbe had just finished changing clothes when Snape dragged them out for questioning.
Having received a definitive answer, Snape proceeded to Chu Yang's room, filled with suspicion and bewilderment.
The Malfoy trio followed closely behind Snape.
Snape pushed the door open forcefully, then looked up, finding that nothing in the room had been damaged.
Chu Yang, who had just emerged from the washroom, saw the frost-faced Snape and the aggrieved Malfoy standing behind him.
Chu Yang smiled and said, "Professor Snape, is there something the matter so early in the morning?"
Snape took a deep breath. He did not mention the issue of the bookmark, but instead asked, "Mr. Malfoy is your roommate, yet he slept in the common room last night. Do you not intend to explain this?"
Chu Yang shot a quick glance at the Malfoy trio, then asked in surprise, "Malfoy actually slept in the common room last night?"
An expression of regret appeared on his face, and his tone carried an air of apology. "I went to sleep quite early last night. Malfoy and the others woke me up when they returned. I complained a few times; perhaps he went to sleep in the common room because of that."
Chu Yang looked at Malfoy with a beaming smile. "I am very sorry, Malfoy."
Malfoy felt his scalp go numb!
"However, I remember inviting you to stay and rest afterward, didn't I?" Chu Yang stared sincerely at the Malfoy trio.
Goyle and Crabbe nodded subconsciously from the side. Chu Yang wasn't lying; he had indeed asked Malfoy to stay last night, but the other boy had been too terrified and had fled.
Having finally understood the sequence of events, Snape looked coldly at Malfoy. "Mr. Malfoy, I am a man who detests lies. I shall inform your father of your behavior today exactly as it happened."
Malfoy immediately let out a wail of despair!
The highest form of lying in the world is to scramble the order of the truth and then embellish it as it is told.
Chu Yang smiled contentedly, but in the eyes of Goyle and Crabbe, his smile was like that of a demon.
"Get to class, now!"
Snape let out a roar, sending the Malfoy trio scurrying out of the dormitory in a panic.
Before leaving, Snape gave Chu Yang a long, deep look.
He knew things were not as simple as Chu Yang had made them out to be, but since the boy had not left any obvious clues, there was no need to pursue the matter further.
As for Malfoy, Snape's anger toward him was entirely due to his stupidity.
If one's arrogance is not matched by their strength, they are merely a conceited idiot.
Knowing Snape's temperament, Chu Yang understood upon seeing his reaction that the matter was considered settled.
The first thing Chu Yang did upon waking this morning was erase the traces of last night.
After removing the bookmark, he had used the Reparo charm to restore everything to its original state.
Snape likely never imagined that a newly enrolled young wizard could cast spells so proficiently.
Only after Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle, and Snape had left the dormitory did Chu Yang leisurely pack his things and head out. As soon as he reached the common room, he was blocked by several older students.
"Kid, I heard you knocked over quite a few of your classmates the night before last? The things you learned in the Muggle world won't always work here," a tall older student said, glaring down at Chu Yang.
Chu Yang smiled politely. "That's alright. As long as they worked the night before last!"
Hearing Chu Yang's response, the tall student's anger flared. He hadn't expected a first-year to dare to talk back to him like this.
"Harper!" A slender boy with long, curly hair reached out to stop the angry student. "We are wizards, not thugs brawling in the Muggle streets. We have our own ways of handling things."
The burly boy named Harper suppressed his rage and took a few steps back, saying deeply, "You're right, Marcus."
As he spoke, the curly-haired boy named Marcus pulled his wand from his robes and pointed it at Chu Yang. "Do you have any idea how many points our house has lost because of you? And school has only just started!"
Seeing him draw his wand, the polite smile vanished from Chu Yang's face. His expression turned grim as he said, "First of all, I have already added back the points Slytherin lost. Secondly, are you sure you want to do this? Do you have the courage to bear all the consequences?"
"Courage?" Marcus laughed mockingly. "Courage isn't a Gryffindor monopoly; Slytherin is never lacking in courage."
As the two faced off, another older student walked toward them from the spiral staircase. He possessed a powerful aura and walked up to them with his head held high. "Marcus, don't go too far, otherwise it will be hard for me to explain to the school. This is my final year, and I don't want to leave a stain on my record."
"No problem, Prefect. I'll just use a simple Petrificus Totalus to keep him in the common room all day," Marcus replied respectfully.
The man gave Chu Yang a cold glance and left the common room without looking back.
Was disciplining a non-pureblood wizard a big deal in Slytherin?
Of course not!
This group of older students had wanted to teach Chu Yang a lesson last night, but because he had changed dormitories unexpectedly, they hadn't been able to find him.
Who would have thought that Chu Yang, coming from an orphanage, would end up in a two-person room?
Students continued to pass by Chu Yang, everyone appearing extremely indifferent.
No one here cared about his fate...
"Slytherin is truly a wonderful place; I'm liking it more and more." The corners of Chu Yang's mouth curled up, but his eyes radiated a dangerous signal.
"I'll make you realize that fists are useless to a wizard!" Marcus waved his wand, chanting an incantation. His casting speed was incredibly fast, completing the movement in almost two seconds.
A faint light shimmered at the tip of Marcus's wand.
With a forceful flick, the activated spell shot toward Chu Yang like a bolt of lightning.
Chu Yang dodged the spell by stepping aside, even taking the opportunity to twist his waist as if warming up. He mocked, "Your spellwork is quite proficient; you must use this move often. But you're too slow—even my neighbor's grandmother is more agile than you."
"Is this how wizards handle things? Not even as forceful as a Muggle's fist."
Chu Yang's words weren't physically damaging, but they were highly insulting. The students watching the spectacle burst into laughter. Marcus's face turned visibly red, and he raised his wand to cast an even more powerful spell.
Politeness was out the window; a humiliated Marcus only wanted to finish Chu Yang off.
"Confringo!"
Marcus was casting the Blasting Curse!
Unfortunately, possessing Observation Haki, Chu Yang had already drawn his own wand and released a spell before Marcus could even finish shouting.
"Expelliarmus!"
Disarming Charm!
A flash of light shot from the tip of Chu Yang's wand, accurately striking Marcus's wand and sending it flying.
The laughter in the common room came to an abrupt halt. Everyone stared in shock at the first-year who had just caused such a massive scene.
Clearly, this was not the sight they had expected to see.
