Chapter 47: Chu Yang's New Roommate

After Snape left, the room felt empty. Chu Yang released the owl from its cage and began to give it extra food. "Eat up, Big White Fatty. If we ever run into trouble in the future, you'll need to pack on some meat to serve as emergency rations."

The owl, busy gorging itself, shuddered and silently pulled its head out of the pile of food.

Chu Yang, having successfully played a prank, gave a knowing smile.

Exhausted, he collapsed onto the bed, and his eyes closed before he knew it. After an unknown amount of time, he faintly heard voices whispering near his ear.

"Goyle, Crabbe, even though I missed the Sorting Ceremony because I was sick, my father arranged a double room specifically so I could rest properly. He even said he would come to the school personally to cause trouble for Dumbledore!"

"When the time comes, I'll make sure my father clears out all those monsters in the lake!"

"Someone is sleeping here; it seems to be my roommate. Let's go say hello..."

As soon as the words fell, Chu Yang opened his eyes to see Malfoy and the other two standing stiffly before him, staring at him in stunned silence.

"So, my new roommate is you?" Chu Yang said with a hint of impatience, his eyes still heavy with sleep. "You're disturbing my sleep, you know?"

"Sorry!" Goyle and Crabbe bowed ninety degrees in unison to apologize.

Malfoy's family background was indeed extraordinary.

But in school, Chu Yang's fists were also very hard, and the two of them were well aware of this.

"You two cowards, why are you being so respectful to him?" Malfoy, having just returned from the hospital wing, spoke with full vigor. He clearly hadn't realized how dangerous his situation was.

By now, Chu Yang had been completely woken up by the loud voice. He was sitting on the bed, staring at him with an unfriendly expression.

"Draco, there's something I haven't had a chance to tell you yet..." Goyle whispered into Malfoy's ear, recounting the exciting events the other had missed over the past two days.

As he listened, Malfoy's expression changed drastically. His previous arrogance vanished instantly, and he asked half-doubtingly, "Are you joking with me? How could he possibly beat so many people with his bare hands?"

Goyle and Crabbe shook their heads in unison, and Goyle added a warning: "Draco, you'd better believe it..."

Malfoy wanted to say more, but Chu Yang, sitting on the bed, pulled a bookmark from a book, coated it in Armament Haki, and flicked it out.

The bookmark shot from Chu Yang's hand like a cannonball, embedding itself firmly into the doorframe right above the heads of the three boys.

More than half of the bookmark sank into the wooden doorframe as if it were cutting through tofu.

Malfoy's pupils shrank violently. Goyle and Crabbe let out screams of terror, and the three of them held hands, retreating step by step toward the door in fear.

"Sorry, I have a bit of a temper when I wake up," Chu Yang said with a half-smile from the bed. "What are you standing there for? Come in and sleep, it's already so late!"

Then, he turned to Goyle and Crabbe. "What? Are you two planning to stay and sleep here too?"

At those words, the two big, white, chubby boys immediately abandoned the trembling Malfoy and turned to run without hesitation, vanishing through the doorway in an instant.

"You damn traitors!" Malfoy was both shocked and furious. He wanted to run too, but he had no strength left; his legs felt as heavy as lead.

A sudden chill rushed up the back of his neck. Malfoy's breathing became rapid, and he said with a hint of a sob, "I'm sorry for disturbing your sleep..."

"I accept your apology, Mr. Malfoy." Chu Yang yawned and lay back down. "I hope you don't wake me up again. It's best if you don't make a single sound; I'm a very light sleeper."

Malfoy looked up at the bookmark deeply embedded in the doorframe, swallowed hard, and then covered his mouth in terror.

Because he realized that in the quiet, empty room, even the sound of swallowing became very obvious.

Even though Chu Yang said he could come in to sleep, Malfoy didn't dare stay in the same room as him. He tiptoed out, not forgetting to close the door for Chu Yang.

Poor Malfoy—his first night out of the hospital wing was spent in the common room.

Fortunately, no one fought him for the sofa, and the fire in the common room wouldn't go out.

In the flickering light, Malfoy curled up on the sofa and fell into a heavy sleep.

The next day, Malfoy woke up to a burst of incredulous laughter.

He opened his eyes to find himself surrounded by classmates and even older students.

Even...

Professor Snape, the Head of Slytherin House, was standing right in front of him!

"Wow! I only came to take a look just in case, I didn't expect there to actually be a guest in the common room last night!" Snape said in a low, displeased voice. "Are first-years so fond of this common room that they have to fight for a place to sleep?"

"Stand up! Malfoy!"

Hearing Snape's roar, Malfoy jolted, his sleepiness vanishing instantly. He scrambled clumsily off the sofa.

The laughter around him grew louder until Snape's dark gaze swept across the room.

Only then did the students lower their heads and quickly leave the common room.

A disheveled Malfoy scrambled up from the floor, not forgetting to fix his hair, before saying respectfully, "Good morning, Professor Snape."

"Good morning? I don't think it's good at all!" Snape said furiously. "Your classmates spent the night in the common room, not only throwing Slytherin etiquette to the wind but also causing the house to lose points on the very first day of term!"

"And now you're doing it all over again?" Snape's voice echoed in Malfoy's ears like a storm in a valley. "May I ask, what would the consequences be if your father saw you behaving like this at school?"

Malfoy trembled all over and immediately pleaded in a low voice, "Professor, please, whatever you do, don't let my father know. He'll kill me..."

Snape saw Malfoy's fear and breathed a sigh of relief. "Now tell me, why were you sleeping here?"

Malfoy hesitated, but under Snape's piercing gaze, he stammered through an account of what had happened the previous night.

"A small piece of paper, without any help from magic, embedded itself into the doorframe like a knife?" Snape sneered disdainfully. "Mr. Malfoy, are you telling a story?"

"Perhaps I should help you submit a manuscript to *The Daily Prophet* or *The Quibbler*, the great novelist Draco Malfoy!"

Malfoy cried in grievance, whispering, "Professor, I'm not lying. Goyle and Crabbe both saw it!"

This time, it was Snape's turn to be skeptical.

Could something so absurd actually happen?
