Chapter 7: A Budget of Six Million

"Supervisor, I really have something to take care of. If you won't approve it, then I have no choice but to resign."

Yun Zijin looked earnest. She had truly considered it; after all, the benefits her job provided were far less than what she gained from completing system tasks.

"Are you serious?"

The supervisor realized that Yun Zijin wasn't joking; she was genuinely prepared to quit.

"I am very serious."

"Alright then, I'll approve it for this time, but you should really think carefully about resigning. Our company's salary and benefits are quite decent in the industry. If you quit, you might not necessarily find a better job than this in the future."

The supervisor signed the leave request form for Yun Zijin, but while signing, he continued to try and persuade her.

After all, an intern like Yun Zijin, who was talented and highly productive, was truly rare to come by. If nothing went wrong, Yun Zijin would definitely be the first among the interns of her cohort to become a permanent employee.

"Thank you, Supervisor. I will think about it carefully."

Yun Zijin took the leave request form and, without saying anything more, left the supervisor's office.

"How did it go? Was it approved?"

Sang Ying had been shocked when she heard Yun Zijin was asking for leave again. The Gen Z kids these days were just too bold!

Yun Zijin waved the leave request form in her hand at Sang Ying: "Of course. There isn't a leave request I can't get approved."

Sang Ying gave Yun Zijin a thumbs up; she admired her ability to get leave approved.

"It's almost time to get off work. I'll drop this form off at the administrative department and then I'm out. See you tomorrow, Sister Sang!"

"See you tomorrow."

After leaving the Dingsi Building, Yun Zijin hailed a taxi and headed to the Auto Expo City in the southern suburbs of Di Jing.

Although Yun Zijin had bought quite a few luxury brands over the past few days, she was still used to wearing her old clothes to work. The only exception was the Tiffany T-series T1 diamond-encrusted bracelet she wore on her wrist, and that was only because everyone was busy at work and rarely paid attention to such things.

However, just because her colleagues didn't notice didn't mean others wouldn't.

The salespeople at the Auto Expo City were much like the sales associates at luxury counters—they judged people by their appearance.

Yun Zijin had come alone, so the initial assessment was that she was likely buying a car for herself. She wasn't wearing any big brands from head to toe, except for the bracelet, the authenticity of which was yet to be determined. She looked like a first-timer, but there was no timidity on her face, suggesting she was prepared. In summary: a potential customer, but not a big-ticket one.

Still, even a small mosquito is meat, so a salesperson soon approached her.

"Hello, I'm Li Qi, a salesperson for the Volkswagen brand 4S dealership. What kind of car are you looking for?"

"Volkswagen?"

This brand didn't seem to have any particularly expensive cars...

"I'm sorry, I don't have any plans to purchase a Volkswagen at the moment."

The Volkswagen brand focused on being accessible to the masses, but what Yun Zijin wanted today was a car that could help her spend all 6 million, not just some random commuter car under 200,000.

"I see. Would you mind telling me your budget so I can recommend a brand for you?"

Li Qi hadn't expected his attempt to fail before it even started, but he quickly adjusted his state of mind. He couldn't close the deal, but he could refer the customer to a friend's brand.

The unspoken rule at the Auto Expo City was that for referred customers, the salesperson who closed the deal would give the referring salesperson a 0.5% commission.

It wasn't much, but even a small mosquito is meat, right?

"Six million."

"Okay, six... six million? You said your budget is six million?"

Li Qi had originally thought Yun Zijin's budget was at most 200,000 and that she just didn't like the Volkswagen brand. He hadn't expected...

If he had six million, he wouldn't buy a Volkswagen either.

Yun Zijin nodded, giving Li Qi a definitive answer.

"Um... please wait a moment. I'll call someone over to introduce you. Do you have a preferred brand?"

Since salespeople couldn't sell across brands, Li Qi could only refer this deal.

Li Qi had already @everyone in the sales group. A big deal of six million—whoever grabbed it would get it.

People in the sales group responded quickly, though not everyone believed him.

Li Qi wasn't surprised by this; after all, with so many salespeople at the Auto Expo City, there were bound to be a few skeptics.

Not long after, a salesperson walked out of the Rolls-Royce 4S dealership. He looked quite young.

"Brother Li."

Looking at the person who arrived, Li Qi knew he had been pushed forward by the other salespeople.

Because they didn't believe the customer he introduced really had the financial power to buy a car, but didn't want to miss out, they had pushed an intern forward. If a deal actually happened, they might still be able to snatch the commission.

This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened; interns basically had no right to close deals in the store.

"Ms. Yun, this is Hu Yi, a salesperson for the Rolls-Royce brand. With your budget, there are quite a few good models to choose from in the Rolls-Royce lineup."

Yun Zijin didn't really care about the car brand; as long as it allowed her to spend the six million, that was better than anything else.

"Let's go, let's take a look."

"Please, this way."

Hu Yi didn't have much confidence in this deal. He wasn't exactly pushed forward by others; a more important reason was that Li Qi had treated him well in the past, and he didn't want to leave Li Qi in an awkward position.

However, when he heard Li Qi say that Yun Zijin's budget was six million, he was startled. Could she be a hidden wealthy woman?

"Do you have any preferred models? Our brand's models are mostly business-oriented."

Although their performance could rival sports cars, the body styles were almost all geared toward business.

Usually, those who bought Rolls-Royces were successful middle-aged people.

"Why don't you recommend some to me? Li Qi already told you, my budget is six million. Recommend a few for me to see."

Yun Zijin really didn't know anything about these luxury cars.

"Alright. I wonder if you are interested in an SUV? This Cullinan is priced quite appropriately. Although it might exceed your budget by a little bit, it should be a small matter for you."

As Hu Yi spoke, he led Yun Zijin to the Cullinan display car.

"If you need to test drive it, I can help you apply for that."

"Do you have any smaller models?"

It was undeniable that the Cullinan was a model many men would like, but Yun Zijin was on her own; there was no need to buy something so large.

"Something smaller? Then would you like to take a look at this Wraith? However, this car only has two seats, and the price is relatively lower."

Hu Yi led Yun Zijin to the Wraith display car. The black body and sleek lines immediately caught Yun Zijin's eye.

Having hosted so many guests, Hu Yi had some experience in analyzing a customer's micro-expressions.

He knew he had introduced the right car with the Wraith.

"What's the on-the-road price for this car? If I sign the purchase contract, how long will it take to get the car? Do you handle the license plates and insurance?"

Buying a car in Di Jing, getting a license plate through the lottery system wasn't an easy task. If the 4S dealership could handle it all, Yun Zijin could save a lot of trouble.

"The on-the-road price depends on the configuration you choose. We can handle all the paperwork. As for the car, we produce them according to orders, so it might take at least half a month. There's no way around that."

Hearing Hu Yi's words, Yun Zijin nodded: "That's fine. Order one for me, full payment."
