Chapter 45

"Count Greenforest's warrior! Back then, it was precisely because of this thing that Count Greenforest fought his way up from a mere soldier to eventually becoming the master of the entire province!"

A white-haired middle-aged man's eyes flashed with excitement and greed, his gaze locked tightly onto the ugly green treant.

As the treant lunged at him, the man merely gave the broken bell in his hand a gentle shake.

*Ding-ling-ling~*

The crisp ringing of the bell echoed through the air, instantly causing the ferocious expression on the green treant's face to vanish.

Its movements came to an abrupt halt, and its originally violent aura was suppressed by a mysterious force.

To everyone's surprise, the treant did not continue its attack; instead, it walked toward the white-haired man with steady, even steps, its expression becoming calm, behaving almost like a submissive puppy.

Clearly, while this worn-out bell could cause mental interference in mortals, its strongest ability was evidently the control of this ugly treant.

"Hmm?"

The white-haired man's gaze swept over Lynn. Suddenly, a cold, sinister smile appeared on his face as he looked up and said coldly

"Right, there's still one more fish that slipped through the net. Deal with him!"

As the man's voice fell, a ferocious expression resurfaced on the green treant's face, and it immediately lunged toward Lynn like a wild beast.

The treant's limbs struck the ground like monstrous boulders, exploding with incredible speed, striking toward Lynn like a bolt of green lightning!

To gather more information, Lynn had originally intended to continue pretending to be controlled, but now that the opponent had directly ordered the treant to attack him, he no longer needed to feign anything.

"Ice Arrow!"

Lynn no longer hesitated. With a low shout, he instantly gathered the surrounding energy factors.

In an instant, a long arrow of ice shot out from his body, carrying a bone-chilling coldness straight toward the white-haired man!

The white-haired man had been full of anticipation to see how the treant would defeat Lynn, but he suddenly felt an unprecedented icy aura rushing toward him.

"A Wizard Apprentice! How is this possible!"

Horror flashed in his eyes. He had completely failed to realize that the last team member was actually a Wizard Apprentice, and an extraordinary one at that—at least a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice!

Could a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice really be delivering goods for mortals just for that damned gold and silver?

His mind was filled with confusion, but there was no time left to think; the ice arrow was already flying toward him with the momentum to destroy everything.

The long ice arrow struck his face with lightning speed. The white-haired man's eyes were filled with terror and disbelief.

He could even clearly see his own distorted, horrified expression reflected on the ice arrow, but he was unable to react.

*Boom!*

The ice arrow directly shattered the white-haired man's head. Frost splattered everywhere, and blood mixed with ice shards, filling the air with the scent of death.

A moment later, the white-haired man's stiff corpse fell to the ground, turning into a pool of crushed ice and blood. The bright red and icy blue intertwined, instantly staining the originally tranquil mountain path into a horrific canvas.

However, just before the white-haired man died, his heart was filled with rage and resentment.

In his final moments, he roared madly, his only dying wish being that Count Greenforest's warrior would be a bit more capable and tear that death-defying Level 2 Wizard Apprentice to pieces.

He had failed to perform any defense, having cast magic on himself without hesitation.

And if that green treant was truly as the rumors said, it should have been able to tear Lynn apart by now, sending him to hell along with himself!

Yet, to his regret, Lynn clearly had no intention of dodging, nor did he show any panic, because he possessed absolute confidence.

Standing firmly in place, he directly pierced through the Heart of Flower Language medallion around his neck with his mental strength.

"Heart of Flower Language!"

Instantly, green vines and flowers surged rapidly from the earth like living creatures. Instead of heading toward Lynn, they lunged directly at the green treant, wrapping it tightly.

With no one else around, Lynn did not need the Heart of Flower Language to protect himself; instead, he used it to imprison the green treant.

The vines quickly surrounded the treant, sealing off all its room for movement.

"Its constitution is actually 5. It should be at the Knight level, right?"

Lynn was slightly surprised as he observed the green treant's strength through his crystal ball.

He could even clearly hear the frantic pounding and slapping sounds coming from within the large cocoon formed by the Heart of Flower Language.

Clearly, the treant was struggling desperately, but the vines held it firmly, making it unable to move.

Lynn knew well that this green treant's strength was quite formidable, even capable of rivaling a Knight.

Having noted the function of the broken bell earlier, he walked straight to the white-haired man's corpse after controlling the treant and picked up the bell, which had been stained by blood.

After wiping it clean with the man's clothing, Lynn injected his mental strength into it, and the bell rang clearly once more.

*Ding-ling-ling~*

The ringing sounded, echoing through the air.

At the same time, inside the large cocoon formed by the Heart of Flower Language, the previous pounding sounds gradually ceased.

But Lynn was in no hurry to dissolve the cocoon. Instead, he commanded softly: "Attack!"

*Bang! Bang!*

Immediately, the treant began to frantically strike against the vines again, making loud, violent noises.

Without the slightest hesitation, Lynn spoke again: "Stop attacking!"

In an instant, all sound vanished.

Lynn confirmed that he had complete control over the treant.

Only then did he feel safe enough to release the cocoon of the Heart of Flower Language.

The cocoon dissipated like mist, revealing the green treant inside.

Lynn carefully examined its appearance.

The treant was not particularly tall, standing about 1.2 to 1.3 meters, and its entire body was covered in coarse branches, making it look quite hideous.

Even though its expression was calm now, it could not hide its repulsive appearance.

Though its arms and body were small, its strength was exceptionally great, as if filled with a resilient woody structure.

The treant's ugly and ferocious face looked as if it had been carved from dead wood, sending a chill down one's spine.

"This thing isn't a living creature, but a dead object..."

Lynn's gaze narrowed slightly.

He often used his crystal ball to check the surroundings, and the crate containing the treant had been by his side the whole time.

If the treant had truly been a living creature, he would have sensed its presence long ago.

With this confirmation, Lynn quickly took out some magical items from his spatial storage and skillfully stowed the treant inside.

His heart stirred as he confirmed his suspicion was correct: this green treant was not a biological lifeform, but some kind of dead object controlled by magic.

"Count Greenforest... and a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice..."

Lynn began searching through the white-haired man's headless corpse and was surprised to find that the man was carrying quite a few items.

Although he didn't have spatial storage equipment, several cloth pouches inside his robes were filled with various goods.

On second thought, this was not hard to understand.

Most of the Wizard Apprentices Lynn had killed previously knew they were about to participate in a war, so they naturally wouldn't carry precious items on their person.

However, this white-haired man clearly was not traveling for war, which is why he carried several valuable items with him.
