Chapter 35

"This is..."

Lynn's gaze focused on the yellow crystal, his brow furrowing slightly.

Although he could not immediately identify exactly what it was, based on his meager knowledge of materials science, Lynn could judge that this crystal was likely a type of magic stone.

However, he did not know its specific function, nor did he understand why a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice like White would be carrying such a special magic stone on his person.

Furthermore, White seemed to have shouted a mission command for the "Furnace" just now?

Just as Lynn fell into thought, he suddenly sensed an abnormal aura.

Two corpses were actually lunging toward him.

These two corpses had originally been harassing other wizard apprentices, yet they had suddenly abandoned their targets and turned toward him.

A bit further away, other corpses also seemed to be approaching him.

"Is it this thing?!"

Lynn's expression changed slightly, a flash of vigilance crossing his eyes.

That yellow crystal was actually capable of attracting zombified corpses; this completely deviated from his plan to feign a loss.

If he continued to delay, more corpses would likely gather, eventually attracting the attention of others.

Whether it was allies or enemies, Lynn did not want to be noticed.

His figure flickered, nimbly dodging the attacks of the two corpses, and then he quickly approached the yellow crystal.

Even though this item originally belonged to White, Lynn still cautiously used his sleeve to roll it up, adding an extra layer of the "Heart of Flower Language" pattern before picking it up.

"Such intense light energy factors! It's like a miniature sun!"

Lynn was shocked by the powerful energy contained within the crystal.

At the same time, a thought flashed through his mind.

The power of sorcery is usually measured by degree, a degree derived from the energy produced by the explosion of a standard unit of magic fire stone.

If a magic fire stone could explode, did this yellow magic stone also have the potential to explode?

As he pondered, Lynn suddenly realized that this yellow magic stone might be more than just a simple explosion.

In this area of the Nightshade Bunker, where negative energy factors were dense, if the light energy factors within the yellow magic stone were to explode, they might be able to neutralize the surrounding negative energy factors.

In the universe, various energy factors counteract one another; just as water elements can suppress fire, ice and earth elements can also suppress and offset them.

And light energy factors were one of those energy factors capable of effectively neutralizing negative energy factors.

"Once this thing explodes, it will clearly cause massive interference to the nearby negative energy factors. Perhaps now I understand why a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice like White has managed to survive this long..."

Lynn took a deep breath, his brow tightly knit.

Level 1 Wizard Apprentices had not yet acquired the ability to absorb energy factors into their bodies; therefore, they could not accurately perceive the energy state within a magic stone.

An apprentice like White likely had no idea what he was actually carrying.

They thought they were merely executing some mission for the Furnace, completely unaware of the danger this magic stone might bring.

"The Furnace has likely prepared many Level 1 Wizard Apprentices long ago, using them as 'human bombs' to carry these things into the battlefield!"

A cold sweat broke out on Lynn's back. He finally realized why those formal wizards had ordered apprentices like them to risk entering the Sky Curtain.

What appeared to be meaningless deaths were actually carefully calculated "sacrifices."

To those formal wizards, the lives of these apprentices were nothing more than pawns used to pave the way, with the goal of creating a favorable situation for the high-ranking members of the Furnace.

On the surface, the Furnace's combat plan involved a massive number of apprentices rushing into the Sky Curtain to block the attacks from the Nightshade Bunker, slowly advancing inward.

But in reality, they were only doing so to provide opportunities for those Level 1 Wizard Apprentices carrying magic stones.

"When the time comes and these yellow magic stones explode, they will inevitably cause massive interference to the negative energy factors here..."

"Is this the foresight of that Black Dragon Witch? Strategizing with such precision, treating human lives like grass, as if playing a game of chess. No matter how many pawns die on her board, it doesn't matter; the key is that the 'King' and 'Queen' remain safe."

From Lynn's perspective, by connecting the preceding events, he had pieced together a glimpse of the thoughts of that Great Witch above the Black Dragon.

As for whether that Great Witch had other plans, that was beyond Lynn's ability to guess.

"This magic stone is a hot potato; I need to deal with it quickly, and I must stay away from those Level 1 Wizard Apprentices..."

Lynn looked at the clumsily rising, zombified corpses lunging toward him again. His heart stirred; after dodging their attacks, he tossed the magic stone into the hood of his robe.

Then, Lynn's figure sped away, not daring to linger for a moment, while keeping a constant watch for any Level 1 Wizard Apprentices among the many apprentices of the Furnace.

Relying on the effect of his crystal ball, Lynn could detect the strength levels of those wizard apprentices, allowing him to keep his distance from the Level 1 ones.

At the very top of the Nightshade Bunker, three figures stood: the Lord of the Nightshade Bunker, the Lionheart Knight, and a white-haired old man.

This white-haired old man was a Level 3 Great Wizard of the Bitter Heart Sect.

Currently, three Level 3 Great Wizards were gathered together, their gazes as sharp as eagles, watching every detail of the battlefield.

The Lionheart Knight stood with his arms crossed, his sharp eyes sweeping across the entire battlefield, before saying unhurriedly

"You should be able to guess what the Furnace's decennial hunt is actually for."

The Nightshade Lord and the Sect Leader of the Bitter Heart Sect exchanged glances. After a moment of silence, the Nightshade Lord spoke in a heavy voice

"After a Level 3 Great Wizard comes a Level 4 Wizard, usually honored as a Morning Star Wizard. They are already capable of traveling the stars, conquering various planes, and even conducting deep research into worlds outside the wizarding world."

The Bitter Heart Sect Leader added

"The Lord of the Furnace has likely already locked onto a powerful plane, but he does not yet have enough certainty to break through it. Therefore, through this decennial hunt, he is training a powerful army, waiting for the right moment to invade."

The Lionheart Knight let out a light chuckle, a hint of coldness at the corners of his mouth, and then smiled: "Heh, not bad."

He paused, then looked thoughtfully at the two Great Wizards. "Then do you know why I have come to help you?"

The Nightshade Lord and the Bitter Heart Sect Leader looked at each other, their eyes filled with confusion; they indeed did not know the answer to this question.

They all knew the Lionheart Knight's past—an existence who was once merely a Level 2 Wizard, who, after devouring the power of his mentor, defected from the White Heart Tower in an attempt to break through and become a Level 3 Great Wizard.

However, they all knew that the threshold of Level 3 was not so easily crossed.

Especially for a bloodline wizard, the meager bloodline energy within a teacher's body was simply insufficient for a breakthrough.

Yet, upon seeing the true form of the Lionheart Knight, they were shocked to discover that he had successfully broken through to the level of a Level 3 Great Wizard—it was unimaginable.

The Lionheart Knight smiled slightly, appearing to be in a good mood, before saying in a low voice

"Heh, I can reveal to you that the coordinates of the world the Lord of the Furnace has locked onto were stolen from my Lord!"

He let out a sinister laugh, his voice cold, yet it caused the breathing of the two Level 3 Great Wizards to involuntarily quicken...

Just what level of figure was the master of the Lionheart Knight...
