Just then, Jack's phone rang.
He pulled it out, saw it was Chen Feng calling, and hurriedly answered.
"Boss."
Chen Feng asked, "How is the situation on your end?"
After leaving the hillside villa, Chen Feng had returned to the Scroll World to recover his spiritual energy and had only just come back.
Every time he utilized his transcendent state in the modern world, he had to return to the Scroll World to replenish his energy; this was also to ensure his own safety.
"Boss, I have taken down all three industrial parks. My men are currently inventorying the assets within them," Jack replied respectfully.
Chen Feng said, "Mhm. I am leaving the Golden Triangle today. I'll leave the development of this area to you from now on."
He had essentially laid the foundation for Jack; whether it could flourish now depended on Jack's own abilities.
Hearing that Chen Feng was leaving, Jack hurriedly said, "Boss, what should be done with the employees of these parks? Also, what should I do after taking over this territory?"
Chen Feng said, "Send those people to the border. Notify the Dragon Kingdom side; someone will be there to take them over."
"As for your development here, focus on recruitment and purchasing weapons. I will arrange the rest later."
To Chen Feng, Jack and his men were merely expenses in the Golden Triangle; there was no need for them to do anything else. As long as they developed an armed force, that would suffice.
Chen Feng's words sent a shock through Jack's heart.
"Boss, I haven't made any arrangements with the Dragon Kingdom side. Could there be problems...?" Jack was still somewhat worried.
As a small gang leader, he was no different from an ant in that region. The thought of going there still frightened him. If the people there arrested him, his life would essentially be over.
"No. Just tell them that you couldn't stand the sight of these telecom fraud criminals, and they won't make things difficult for you."
Chen Feng knew that the Dragon Kingdom had always wanted to clear out the telecom fraud dens in the Golden Triangle. Handing these criminals over voluntarily would undoubtedly be a great gift. He was doing this to help Jack make a name for himself in front of the Dragon Kingdom, creating a point of contact between the two sides. This would make things much easier to handle in the future.
"Alright, Boss. I'll get people on it immediately."
Jack felt relieved. Since his boss had said so, there certainly wouldn't be any problems.
***
The next day, at the border.
Rows of fully armed soldiers stood there. These soldiers had been temporarily deployed from nearby combat zones. After receiving Jack's message, the Dragon Kingdom had dispatched personnel overnight.
Telecom fraud had been a highly trending issue in the country recently. Cracking down on it was what the common people desired.
At the front of the formation stood two men. One was a Major in military uniform.
"Which faction sent so many telecom fraud suspects to us all at once?" Colonel Zhang asked, looking at the middle-aged man in front of him.
The man before him wore a black jacket and possessed a steady, composed aura. He was Zhong Shan, the head of the Dragon Kingdom's Border Affairs Bureau.
Zhong Shan said with a serious expression, "According to the information I received, a firefight broke out in northern Shan State last night, and the location of the fight was the three largest industrial parks we had been monitoring."
"A new rising force destroyed those parks, and they intend to send this batch of telecom fraud criminals over to us."
Hearing this, Colonel Zhang said in surprise, "They are being that kind-hearted?"
The Golden Triangle had no good reputation anywhere in the world. Naturally, Colonel Zhang held no goodwill toward any faction from that region.
"That is also what puzzles me. Over the phone, the other party claimed they couldn't stand the behavior of these telecom fraudsters and said they hated scammers," Zhong Shan added, a strange look appearing on his face.
"So, they are justice seekers? Now I'm curious," Colonel Zhang laughed.
At that moment, a convoy of vehicles appeared on the distant dirt road. There were so many vehicles that they formed a long dragon stretching as far as the eye could see.
Many of the Dragon Kingdom citizens inside the buses were weeping with joy. They were going home!
Those weeping with emotion were the ones who had been swindled into the Golden Triangle. Having endured untold suffering there, they were finally returning to their homeland, so their emotions were naturally intense.
However, the expressions of some others were quite grim. This group consisted of those who had gone to the Golden Triangle voluntarily to seek fortune. Some had scammed money from various lending platforms in their home country before fleeing to the Golden Triangle. Others were fugitives who could no longer stay in the country and chose to smuggle themselves abroad.
Every bus was guarded by Jack's subordinates to prevent anyone from escaping.
Soon, the lead bus came to a halt. A group of passengers rushed off the bus.
Zhong Shan immediately arranged for people to register them. Everyone here had to be investigated thoroughly—distinguishing between those who were tricked and those who went voluntarily to work in telecom fraud.
Just then, Zhong Shan saw a Black man walking toward him with several others. Zhong Shan immediately stepped forward and extended his hand.
"You must be Mr. Jack?"
Jack felt nervous looking at the surrounding Dragon Kingdom soldiers, but he still reached out and shook hands.
"Hello, I am Jack..."
The subordinates beside Jack were also filled with tension. After all, they were surrounded by fully armed Dragon Kingdom soldiers. The sharp, piercing gazes of the soldiers made them feel uneasy. As gang members, they were completely outmatched by professional soldiers.
"My name is Zhong Shan. Thank you for handing these telecom fraud criminals over to us," Zhong Shan said politely.
Beside him, Colonel Zhang also nodded to Jack as a greeting.
"No need for thanks. I have always liked the Dragon Kingdom. Consider this a favor," Jack replied in broken Chinese.
Hearing that Jack could actually speak Chinese surprised both Zhong Shan and Colonel Zhang.
"I didn't expect Mr. Jack to speak Chinese; you've truly surprised us."
"The Dragon Kingdom is a land of etiquette and is never stingy with friends. We will cover all the costs of transporting these people. Furthermore, to express our gratitude, our side will provide you with a sum of money as a thank-you fee."
Upon hearing this, Jack replied, "No need for money. Just let me be your *xiaodi* (little brother/subordinate)."
This response left Zhong Shan and Colonel Zhang completely stunned.
"Uh... Mr. Jack, are you saying you want to be our *xiaodi*?" Zhong Shan asked in an uncertain tone. He wondered if the Black man had misspoken. Why would he suddenly say he wanted to be their subordinate? What kind of logic was this?
"I mean, to become a friend of the Dragon Kingdom," Jack repeated in English.
He didn't know how to say it properly in Chinese, so he had settled for *xiaodi*.
Jack had already guessed Chen Feng's intention last night. Chen Feng wanted him to contact the Dragon Kingdom so that he could build a good relationship with them.
