By the time Su Yan arrived, the black market boss was already waiting at the agreed-upon location.
Aside from himself, there were four or five other men.
Seeing that Su Yan had actually appeared under the cover of night, a sharp glint flashed in their eyes.
They were certain that Su Yan had come from out of town and had no idea about the current situation in the county town; otherwise, it would have been absolutely impossible for her to come out for a transaction at night.
The dim alleyway didn't even have streetlights; one could only make out the surroundings by the moonlight.
The smile on the black market boss's face was exceptionally bright. "Miss Su, you've come. What do you think of this car?"
As he spoke, he handed over all the various documents.
Su Yan took a cursory glance, and after confirming that the paperwork was indeed in order, she nodded directly.
"I'll take this car. Where are the keys?"
The black market boss unhurriedly pulled the keys from his pocket, but this time, just as Su Yan reached out to take them, he deliberately dodged her movement.
"Miss Su, don't be in such a hurry. Goods are exchanged for money. Once you give me the remaining balance, the keys will naturally be placed in your hands."
Though he was smiling, the calculating glint in the depths of his eyes could not be hidden.
Su Yan seemed not to notice; she reached directly into her Qiankun bag and pulled out three gold bars.
The moment these people saw the gold bars, their eyes went blank.
They knew Su Yan was wealthy, of course, but they hadn't expected her to pull out three gold bars so casually.
"This should be enough to pay the balance, right?" Su Yan asked expressionlessly.
The black market boss nodded like a pounding garlic press. "Of course it's enough. Miss Su, did you come here all by yourself?"
He cast a searching look behind Su Yan.
Su Yan remained noncommittal.
The black market boss suddenly retracted his smile, revealing a ferocious expression.
Meanwhile, the four or five men who had been standing behind him immediately surrounded Su Yan.
Su Yan still showed no unnecessary emotion, as if she had long since anticipated this. "What are you doing?"
"Miss Su, have you never heard the saying that when traveling, one should not flaunt their wealth?" The black market boss held Su Yan in no regard at all; consequently, he failed to realize that in such a situation, the fact that a young girl remained calm and unruffled was, in itself, highly suspicious.
Su Yan sneered, "Are you trying to rob me while I'm vulnerable? Is there no law here?"
"You probably don't know, but our county town hasn't been peaceful lately. Just hand over all the money in your bag obediently, and I might consider leaving you a way to live. Otherwise, even if you die here, no one will care!"
By the end, the black market boss looked triumphant; in his eyes, Su Yan was already a fat sheep waiting to be slaughtered.
"Oh. So this county town isn't peaceful, and even if someone dies, no one will investigate." Su Yan actually acted as if she had just reached a sudden realization.
Seeing her expression, the black market boss felt an inexplicable tightening in his chest, and he finally realized something.
"Stop talking nonsense! Hand over all your money right now!"
He threatened her with a ferocious aura.
The other men now held gleaming daggers in their hands.
"And if I refuse? Since you know the county town isn't peaceful, yet you still dare to come out to commit murder for profit—be careful that you don't end up not even knowing how you died."
Su Yan crossed her arms over her chest, her expression still unhurried.
However, her words made the black market boss's scalp tingle. In fact, it wasn't just him; the others also felt a shiver run down their spines.
"Stop trying to scare us! The trouble is all happening in the west of the city; it's safe here!" the black market boss retorted, but the words sounded more like he was trying to bolster his own courage.
Su Yan's gaze suddenly pierced through him, looking at something not far behind him, and then she revealed a meaningful smile.
"Who said the trouble is only in the west? Look, what is that?"
Her voice wasn't loud, but it caused everyone's expression to change drastically as they instinctively followed her gaze.
Two seconds later, they were wailing in terror.
The black market boss looked as if he had been nailed to the spot; the blood in his entire body rushed to his head, his blood pressure spiked instantly, and his whole body shook uncontrollably, yet he couldn't move an inch.
Not far from them, clusters of malevolent spirits were approaching, their faces twisted and hideous.
This sight caused the black market boss to urinate his pants in terror. His subordinates dropped their daggers and bolted for their lives.
Watching these people run faster than rabbits, Su Yan felt nothing but indifference.
She didn't even have the intention to step in and save them; these scumbags were even more brutal than the evil spirits, and if left in the world, there was no telling how many more commoners they would harm.
The evil spirits drifted toward the black market boss. Before they could even do anything, the black market boss spat out a mouthful of blood and died of pure fright.
Even Su Yan hadn't expected such an ending; she felt a sense of contempt—to think he only had this much courage.
The evil spirits headed straight for the black market boss's corpse, clearly not even sparing the dead.
Su Yan had a rough idea of what was happening to the missing people in the county town; these evil spirits were even more wicked than the ones she had encountered before.
Energy gathered in her pupils, and in an instant, all the evil spirits in the alley vanished without a trace.
At that moment, the alley returned to silence once more, as if nothing had ever happened.
Su Yan bent down to pick up the fallen car keys and opened the car door.
At this moment, the entire county town was shrouded in a sinister, ghostly miasma, and Su Yan started the car, driving straight toward the area where the miasma was thickest.
The west of the city was filled with wails.
Every household had their doors tightly shut, but even so, the place had turned into a living hell.
The police cars that had rushed over at some unknown time were now empty; households that were screaming just seconds ago had instantly fallen into deathly silence.
Clusters of evil spirits circled in the sky, attacking all living humans and animals.
In the darkness, a car was speeding forward, and wherever it went, the evil spirits were annihilated into ash.
Even with this speed of destruction, it still could not keep up with the speed at which they were killing people.
The area covered by the evil spirits was even larger than Su Yan had anticipated. She knew she couldn't delay any longer and slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a steady stop by the roadside.
Su Yan pushed the door open and stepped out.
Seeing that there was actually a living person, the evil spirits filling the streets swarmed toward her in unison.
Su Yan's expression was cold. "Seeking death."
With the casting of a single talisman, the evil spirits covering half the street were wiped out completely.
"Are you an Exorcist? You're an Exorcist, right? Quick, save the people!"
Just as Su Yan was preparing her next move, an excited shout rang out from a nearby pile of trash.
And the person actually knew about Exorcists!
