When the Female Supporting Character Possesses a Beauty System
Chapter 39: Tingting 37
A burst of laughter immediately erupted from the audience. Almost everyone knew about Yang Kun's infatuation with Han Tingting; hearing his words now, most people responded with playful teasing rather than any ill intent.
Han Tingting glanced at Yang Kun. Could she say she wasn't at all surprised by his current behavior? Between her and Yang Kun, he was always the proactive, extroverted one.
Han Cunming smiled as well. He abandoned the rehearsed flow of the ceremony and instead gently nudged Han Tingting toward Yang Kun's side. "Take good care of her, live a good life, and in the future... just make sure everything is good."
Yang Kun beamed with a full smile. "Don't worry, Grandpa. We will always be good."
Watching Yang Kun lead Han Tingting step by step toward the center of the stage, the emcee grumbled to himself that this wasn't how the rehearsal was supposed to go. However, having hosted countless weddings over the years, he knew exactly how to smooth over such moments.
Fortunately, Yang Kun didn't cause any more trouble during the second half, allowing the emcee's racing heart to finally settle. It wasn't until the end, when the bride and groom began to share their heartfelt vows, that Han Tingting finally had her chance to speak.
Holding the microphone, her eyes first landed on the head table.
"I am exceptionally happy today because the person I admire most has come to attend my wedding to witness my happiness at such an important moment. She is my teacher; without her constant care along the way, I wouldn't be the person I am today."
Although Teacher Shi had taught Han Tingting very little, Han Tingting truly loved her, moved by the profound teacher-student bond between her and Tan You.
"Thank you, Teacher Shi. You were always there during my most difficult, saddest, and happiest moments."
At the table, Teacher Shi smiled and gave Han Tingting a slight nod, though her eyes involuntarily reddened.
"And Teacher Qin, I am also very grateful to Teacher Qin. When I was still a science student who struggled terribly with academics, you never gave up on me; instead, you constantly encouraged and pushed me forward."
Teacher Qin waved vigorously at Han Tingting, and the emcee timely stepped forward to hand him the microphone. Teacher Qin laughed, "As long as you aren't angry, I won't mention how I used to use Teacher Shi to bait you into working harder."
Han Tingting laughed. "Of course not. I know you did it for my own good. I cherish every bit of kindness shown to me by others."
Teacher Qin smiled. "That's good. Live well in the future. As a math teacher, I can't claim to be a man of poetic words, but I just hope you and Xiao Yang stay sweet together forever."
Han Tingting continued, "I had very little connection to my biological family growing up and relied on my grandfather for everything. But I have encountered many benefactors. When I first started working at the garment factory, I never imagined I would encounter such a destiny."
As she spoke, she glanced at Yang Kun. "You and my parents have shown me the warmth and affection between parents and children—things I once longed for but could never attain. But now, they have fallen into my hands."
"Thinking of this moves me from the bottom of my heart; it feels as if I possess the whole world. To have someone who knows my warmth and coldness, who understands my joys and sorrows, and who cares more about the hardships behind my glory than the glory itself—that is the family I wanted."
"With my parents' example of leading by word and deed, I know you will also work hard to nurture our own little family, just as they did."
Yang Kun had been watching Han Tingting the entire time, and upon hearing her final words, tears finally fell. Han Tingting reached up to wipe his face. "Don't cry. You should be smiling during such a happy moment, not with misty eyes."
Yang Kun sniffled. "I can't help it. You know I have no resistance when I look into your eyes. You rarely spoke to me like this before; I can't quite handle it."
The groomsmen standing below the stage nudged each other and winked, clearly being turned off by Yang Kun's sentimentality.
"The year I first met you, you were sixteen and I was twenty. I had just started my summer break, and my father dragged me to be your model because you wanted to prepare gifts for your teachers."
"Back then, you were dark-skinned, thin, and very quiet. You only spoke more when you were in front of Master Hu. You could chat with many of the aunts and ladies in the factory, yet I was the only one you never seemed to notice."
Han Tingting smiled. "Did that make you feel wronged?"
"A little," Yang Kun admitted honestly. "Back then, I thought you were quite cold, like a stone. Later, my parents gave me a harsh scolding. At that time, I wasn't particularly successful in academics or athletics; relying only on my family's small business, what right did I have to stand before you?"
"Later, I was busy with my studies and helping my father manage the factory. We only truly met a handful of times until after your college entrance exams."
"But after your exams, I noticed you had changed a lot. You could finally see me. The more we spent time together, the more I saw your brilliance. Compared to your previous coldness and distance, you became much gentler toward me, as if you had finally included me in your circle of life."
"When you first agreed to be with me, I was so excited I couldn't sleep for nights, terrified that it was all a bubble that would burst at a touch. But you have always done so well..."
Tan You sat in a corner of the stage, watching the two of them pour their hearts out. Looking below, she saw people already moved to tears. She let out a bored yawn; she had thought Han Tingting was the type of rational, powerful woman, but what was this? Was she being forced to watch a live-action sweet romance drama?
Well, if Han Tingting was the female lead, she could manage to watch it. Her gaze swept past Han Guangzhi and a middle-aged woman sitting opposite him; Tan You let out a sneer. Who cared if their expressions were unpleasant?
In the past, Tan You felt that Tan Lin and Cheng Wenhui were always scolding her, making her feel oppressed and sad at home. But now, after seeing Han Tingting's biological parents, Tan You felt they weren't actually that bad.
Of course, it wasn't that she felt any deep filial devotion toward them; after all, Tan You was a naturally detached person. She seemed to care about nothing in particular, had no one she particularly loved, and nothing she particularly cherished.
She didn't like to disturb others, nor did she like being disturbed.
Her emotions rarely experienced great highs or lows; it was as if whatever happened around her had nothing to do with her. Perhaps such detachment was good; at least when she went out to complete tasks and earn intelligence points, even if she encountered a truly unforgettable bond, she could slowly forget it later.
Sensing Tan You's craving for intelligence points, the Beauty System trembled in fear. What should it do? If they returned, the System's lies would be exposed. Would the host try to unbind from it?
After the wedding, Han Tingting's life seemed to be wound up like a clock, rushing forward rapidly. Tan You watched from the sidelines as she became pregnant, gave birth, and continued to pursue her career.
Meanwhile, Tan You returned to the university to study under professors, appearing rarely in Han Tingting's life. The two of them developed in a way where they did not interfere with one another, both striving to become better versions of themselves.
