Chapter 5: The Space

When she woke up again, Murong Qingyan discovered that the place she was in was no longer the dilapidated little shack from before.

She had no idea where she was at this moment. Looking out into the distance, there were mountains and water, and she was currently sitting on a patch of lush green grass. Not far from where she sat, there was a small thatched cottage.

Looking at the scene before her, Murong Qingyan did not feel a shred of panic, even though she had no idea how she had arrived in this place. She stood up and scanned the surrounding environment.

"There is no need to look; you are currently inside the space."

Just as Murong Qingyan was pondering to herself, a voice suddenly rang out. This voice sounded very weathered, as if it had been tempered by thousands of years of history. Furthermore, upon hearing this voice, she felt waves of pressure bearing down on her. Yet, even so, she stood there proudly and unyielding.

"Who are you?" Murong Qingyan frowned, a flash of vigilance crossing her eyes.

She was currently in an unknown location, and this body was clearly too weak; she had no way to fully utilize the skills she once possessed. In such an unfamiliar environment, she wasn't even sure if she had the ability to protect herself should danger arise.

"Me?" The weathered voice sounded again. "I am the one who saved you, and also the guardian of this space."

"You saved me?" Murong Qingyan narrowed her eyes. "Do you mean to say that the reason I was able to transmigrate to this era and be reborn in Murong Qingyan’s body is because of you?"

"That is correct. It was I who brought you here." At this point, the voice paused. "However, whether or not you can become a powerhouse in this era will depend on yourself."

"What?" Hearing these words, Murong Qingyan was stunned, not quite understanding what it meant.

"You will know soon enough."

As the voice faded, a surge of powerful energy suddenly rushed toward her. Murong Qingyan felt the surrounding spiritual energy pouring into her body from all directions. Unlike before, the dense spiritual power did not dissipate after entering her body; instead, it surged frantically toward her dantian. The intense pain felt as if it were tearing her dantian apart.

Suddenly, a difficult and obscure incantation appeared in her mind.

Unconsciously, Murong Qingyan opened her mouth and recited a string of complex, incomprehensible spells. Her hands began to form intricate seals, and a golden light grew increasingly brilliant, surrounding her body and making her appear sacred and inviolable.

If anyone were present, they would surely be shocked by this scene. Because, shrouded in that golden light, Murong Qingyan’s skin was fair, and the deep purple birthmark on the left side of her face had vanished without a trace. Without the birthmark, Murong Qingyan’s delicate features looked like a masterpiece of divine favoritism—exquisitely beautiful and untouchable.

However, Murong Qingyan did not notice this at the moment, nor did she have the time to notice it. A massive amount of spiritual energy poured into her dantian, causing a tearing pain to erupt from within.

Faced with such agony, an ordinary person would likely have been weeping and wailing long ago. Yet, Murong Qingyan did not even let out a sound; she simply gritted her teeth, focusing on guiding that spiritual power into her dantian.

She knew very well that the current situation was absolutely beneficial to her. If she couldn't even endure this bit of pain, how could she ever talk about becoming a powerhouse?

Slowly, Murong Qingyan felt the pain in her body begin to subside.

After a long while, when the pain had completely vanished, Murong Qingyan clearly felt the spiritual power circulating within her dantian.

Not long after, she sensed that a lotus seed-sized object had appeared in her dantian, which was now glowing and continuously absorbing the spiritual energy.
