Transmigrating to a Life of Honor and Wealth: Raising the Heir of the Childless Heir
Chapter 20: Summoning Magic Tools
Qin Bi saw a few rabbits; they weren't large, just hopping along.
Qin Tang didn't see any little demon beasts, but Qin Bi was wailing and sobbing. He was truly at his wit's end. This training session was extremely important for cultivators who had not yet entered the formal ranks, and he had never known his concubine-born younger sister could cry this much.
If someone else were bullying her, it would be understandable if she cried.
The problem was that she was just crying to herself; her lack of emotional control was truly a headache.
"We don't have summoning artifacts," Qin Tang said, digging up a plant.
Qin Bi sobbed, "Why are you digging that up?"
Qin Tang explained patiently, "Plants in the Demon Beast Realm all have medicinal value. Even if we can't use them ourselves, we can take them back to sell for money. Instead of wasting time crying, you might as well dig up some plants."
Qin Bi wiped her tears and glanced at the plant in Qin Tang's hand. "Weeds. Useless."
Qin Tang was almost moved to laughter; even while grieving, she didn't forget to judge the plants in his hand.
"They'll be useful once we take them back," a chubby young man spoke up. He was truly on the verge of a breakdown; he knew the Consort he was marrying for Heir Rong was born of a concubine, but he hadn't expected her to be such a useless parasite.
This training trip only lasted a few days, and the teleportation array would not wait.
Whether or not they could enter the path of cultivation depended on the results of this trip. Qin Tang and his brothers had no hope of entering the ranks, but since they had the rare opportunity to come to the Demon Beast Realm, they should try to dig up as many plants as possible.
The people traveling in their group had already split off, finding Qin Tang's sister to be a burden, yet this Consort was still wailing and sobbing.
The group felt utterly helpless and focused on digging up high-value plants.
Qin Bi ignored the "blessed" fat man and followed Qin Tang step by step, continuing to cry. She was also speechless at herself, but she felt so aggrieved and miserable that she couldn't help it. The more she thought about how He Yan had married her just for the sake of Qin He, the more she wanted to cry in anger.
"What kind of summoning artifacts are they?" In Qin Bi's view, summoning artifacts came in all sorts of varieties.
Before Qin Tang could speak, Qin Lang said, "You'll see in a moment. Sister, if not for yourself, do it for Rong Yang as well. Dig up something; there might be some decent grade spiritual plants."
Qin Bi wanted to dig something up too, but after wandering around the vicinity, she didn't know where to start. It was all weeds and unknown wild plants; she wouldn't dig those, as they were completely useless to take back.
This small space was extremely hot. It was currently summer, and the intense sun made people feel uncomfortable.
Everyone was drenched in sweat. Since Qin Bi's lifespan was damaged, the sun actually felt somewhat comfortable to her.
Qin Bi was somewhat lost in thought when, not far away, a group of trainees discovered a demon beast. There were about a dozen people in the group; they took out tea bowls to summon a summoning beast and a summoning plant.
The small demon beast struck first, lunging toward the summoned beast and the summoned plant.
Qin Bi's eyes widened slightly. Qin Lang took the opportunity to educate her: "Those are summoning artifacts. Without them, we can't kill a single demon beast in the Demon Beast Realm."
Qin Bi asked in confusion, "Are there no other kinds of summoning artifacts?"
Qin Lang was young, but he was utterly exasperated. He was nearly breaking down. "Sister, you'd be lucky if you could even master this kind of summoning artifact from our Great Yan Empire. What other kind of summoning artifact do you want?"
The training group was busy killing the demon beast, while Qin Tang and the others were digging up plants from a distance.
About half an hour later, the small demon beast was killed by the combined efforts of the summoned beast and the summoned plant. The training group packed up the beast and left, leaving Qin Lang and the others looking envious.
"This demon beast has good fur; one can be exchanged for one or two low-grade crystals," Qin Xun said, looking expectantly at the chubby young man. "Rong Yan, where is your summoning artifact? Bring it out so we can kill a demon beast."
Rong Yan shook his head. "No, I must save it for when we encounter danger. My summoning artifact's level is too low."
This summoning artifact had been left to him by his grandfather, and its summoning ability was already quite weak. If his father hadn't been worried about Rong Yan perishing in the Demon Beast Realm's small space, he wouldn't have given him a summoning artifact at all.
Even a weak summoning artifact was still a summoning artifact, which was better than having nothing like Qin Tang and his brothers.
Jiang Xu and Rong Yan were just ordinary people without spiritual roots. The reason they had followed to the Demon Beast Realm was that their friends, Qin Tang and Qin Xun, had spiritual roots. When Qin Tang couldn't find anyone to team up with, Jiang Xu and Rong Yan decided to take the risk and follow them into the small space.
Qin Bi was somewhat curious, but it was strange that she was both wailing and curious at the same time.
Regardless, Qin Bi asked, "Can I see your summoning artifact?"
Rong Yan hesitated. Knowing the item was precious, Qin Bi immediately added, "You can keep it; I'll just take a look."
Rong Yan felt relieved and took out the summoning artifact—a tea bowl with a handle.
Qin Bi blinked. No matter how she looked at it, it was just a tea bowl. Could the one her son, Rong Yang, gnawed on for fun also be a summoning artifact? It could scoop up dirt and condense water, so it probably wasn't.
"That's just a tea bowl," Qin Bi tried to remind him.
Rong Yan was startled and covered the artifact. "Don't even think about it. This is a summoning artifact."
A tea bowl was just porcelain and wasn't worth much; his was clearly a summoning artifact.
Qin Bi wanted to cry again. She sobbed, her grief deepening, which scared Rong Yan into moving far away.
The small group continued walking and searching for plants to dig. It took over half an hour to dig up only a dozen plants. The Demon Beast Realm's small space had only experienced a single rainstorm more than other places; the soil was similarly lacking in moisture, so very little had grown.
A young girl named Mou Meng'er's group was killing a demon beast. Two young men dressed as scholars held summoning artifacts, directing their summoned beasts and plants to battle a demon beast that was snarling ferociously.
Qin Lang and the others were envious. Jiang Xu spotted a demon beast with good fur nearby. "Sigh, if we had two summoning artifacts, we could kill that horned demon beast. Killing one would earn us a spirit stone."
Spirit stones could be used for cultivation. Qin Bi's heart stirred, and as she looked at the demon beast, her eyes filled with a hint of greed.
"Is any tea bowl like that a summoning artifact?" Qin Bi pointed at the tea bowl in the scholar's hand.
Qin Lang's eyes lit up. "Did Brother-in-law prepare a summoning artifact for you?"
"No," Qin Bi shook her head. "I don't know how to use one. But, I'll try to see if what I make is an artifact. I can condense a small tea bowl."
Qin Lang's anticipation died. "Forget it. That little tea bowl you make to tease children isn't a summoning artifact."
Qin Bi didn't speak. Instead, she searched around and found a patch of soil that looked decent—not too compacted and quite sandy. Qin Bi dug it open and pressed her hand, holding a handkerchief, onto the soil.
A clean, white tea bowl condensed into existence.
Jiang Xu was just about to walk away to dig for plants when his eyes caught sight of it, and he stumbled in shock. "My goodness!"
Qin Lang had been chattering away to Qin Bi, occasionally glancing enviously at the group killing the demon beast. When he turned his head again, he stared agape at Qin Bi holding a small tea bowl.
"Cousin! Cousin...!" Qin Lang was shocked. He hurriedly called out to the departing Qin Tang and Qin Xun, his voice stammering, "My... my... Sister Qin Bi, she condensed a summoning artifact!"
