Transmigrating to a Life of Honor and Wealth: Raising the Heir of the Childless Heir

Chapter 10: She Can Actually Use Magical Artifacts Too

Chapter 10: She Could Actually Use a Magical Artifact Too

Some ministers were dissatisfied, and another pointed toward the imperial court: "That one's son occupies twenty points of fortune and twenty points of luck. Our Great Yan Kingdom's fortune and luck have finally risen a bit; don't even mention it."

Upon hearing this, the dissatisfied ministers shut their mouths and said no more.

The Emperor of Great Yan held the child. Being young, the baby wasn't heavy. The child stared with dark, round eyes, looking here and there, smacking his lips and gnawing on his little fist. Rong Jun glanced at him and took him over.

The Emperor of Great Yan was finally relieved to have passed him off. Rong Jun held the child, straightened his little clothes, scooped a bit of warm water with an exquisite small porcelain spoon, moved the child’s little hands away, and fed him.

The Emperor of Great Yan took a look; the little guy was quite well-behaved.

The Emperor of Great Yan deliberated and seized the opportunity to say, "Rong Jun, you’ve already held the child’s full-month banquet. Even if you were observing the postpartum period, the month is over. It’s time to return to court!"

"I can't," Rong Jun said while feeding the little one. "His mother is frail, and Rong Yang is still young. If I go to court, there’s no one to look after him, and I don't trust anyone else to take care of him."

Rong Jun, He Yan, and the Emperor of Great Yan were brothers, so there was no need for formal titles.

The Emperor of Great Yan didn't mind; he was most concerned that Rong Jun couldn't attend court, and he grew anxious. "State affairs are busy. If you are always at home taking care of the child, who will help me handle the government affairs?"

Rong Jun pondered for a moment and said, "In a month or two, perhaps. Wait until my son is a bit older; a child who has just finished his first month is too weak."

Since Rong Jun had given a definitive answer, the Emperor of Great Yan had no choice but to let it go.

After the full-month banquet ended, the Emperor of Great Yan returned to the palace, and soon after, many precious supplements were sent over, all for nourishing longevity and the spirit. The Emperor of Great Yan was extremely impatient with handling state affairs and hoped Rong Jun would return to court quickly.

Rong Yang hadn't seen Qin Bi for half a day. When he returned to the courtyard, he would only stop crying when held by Qin Bi.

Qin Bi’s heart softened, yet she felt a bit sad. Her spirit was damaged, and she felt powerless to care for the child, yet the child still missed her. Thinking of this, Qin Bi wanted to cry, but she quickly stopped herself and composed her emotions.

This was the result of a damaged lifespan; the heart could not command the spirit, and it was easy to fall into a low mood when one started thinking too much.

After dinner that evening, Qin Bi teased Rong Yang, and the child giggled. A faint smile appeared on Rong Jun’s cold, hard face.

Qin Bi didn't want to let her spirit remain unanchored. The next day, the sun was bright, so she carried Rong Yang into the courtyard, found a patch of soil that looked decent, and took a small trowel to dig in the dirt and play with the child.

Rong Jun saw this from the study and brought over the small teacup Qin Bi had condensed earlier to give to Rong Yang.

The child grabbed it and gnawed on it, talking to Rong Jun and Qin Bi: "Ah, ah..."

Rong Jun didn't stop him; the small teacup was a magical artifact and was very clean.

Rong Jun stood up and returned to the study.

Qin Bi talked to the child, asking with a smile, "What are you saying?"

Rong Yang stopped gnawing on the teacup and opened his little mouth to babble.

Qin Bi smiled and simply sat on the ground. Didn't Rong Jun say that planting more things would be good for her condition? Playing with the soil was the right thing to do. Qin Bi held the child with one hand and used the small trowel to dig with the other.

She wasn't sure about other places, but the soil in the Great Yan Kingdom was very dry and not fine. When Qin Bi had followed her third uncle to his post as a magistrate, the soil she had seen was prone to hardening and was even worse than this.

Qin Bi summoned a maid and brought over a few small wine cups. Qin Bi used the small wine cups to press shapes into the soil.

She pressed one, and it crumbled; the soil was too dry.

She kept pressing, and after a long while, she finally managed to make one good soil cup.

The little guy watched, gnawing on the small teacup, then stopped, seemingly curious about what his mother was pressing.

"Look," Qin Bi pointed out to the child. "This is a little cup. Isn't it fun?!"

It was laughable to think that a grown woman like her was actually playing in the dirt.

The little guy grabbed the small teacup and made "ah-ah" sounds. Qin Bi glanced at the small teacup and froze. The teacup the child was holding was filled with a cup of soil—moist soil. It wasn't very wet, but it was definitely not dry soil.

The soil was fine and of superior quality.

Where did it come from?

Qin Bi subconsciously looked around. Remembering that Rong Jun said the teacup was a magical artifact, she guessed that the little guy had somehow managed to use it. She carried the child to the study to find Rong Jun.

Rong Jun took the small teacup and examined the soil quality. "This artifact is suitable for children to play with. Keep the soil; when you’ve collected enough, you can plant something. This is superior soil."

With Rong Jun saying this, Qin Bi became very interested in the small teacup. She handed the child to Rong Jun, took the teacup, poured the soil into a drinking cup, and planted a few vegetable seeds.

"They won't grow like this," the maid said.

Qin Bi didn't say anything. If they didn't grow, they didn't grow! She wasn't counting on them to grow; she was just passing the time to nourish her spirit. Expecting her to farm was just a joke, wasn't it?!

Qin Bi intended to pour some water on them. As she held the small teacup, it suddenly felt heavy. She immediately looked at the teacup and saw it was filled to the brim with water. Qin Bi was stunned. She could actually use a magical artifact too?!

Qin Bi wasn't surprised that Rong Yang could use a magical artifact. She had no spiritual roots, but Rong Jun did; it was normal for the little guy to follow Rong Jun and be able to use one. It was only strange that she could use it.

If nothing else, even considering the Qin Yan Marquis Mansion, she shouldn't be able to use a magical artifact.

Qin Bi’s heart pounded. She took a deep breath—don't overthink it; the higher the expectations, the easier it is to be disappointed. The maid was standing far away and hadn't seen it. Qin Bi poured the water into the cup where the seeds were planted.

Fortunately, the cup was small and there was little soil, otherwise, this bit of water wouldn't have had much effect.

Qin Bi didn't use any other water. She wanted to see if these vegetable seeds would sprout and what they would grow into.

Once finished, Qin Bi wiped the outside of the cup and placed it on the table by the window, which faced the sun. Qin Bi washed her hands and went to the study to hold the child.

Rong Jun had taken the child to the storeroom to inventory the full-month gifts.

"This is the gift from the Minister of Works," the estate steward said.

Rong Jun held the child and took a look at a piece of jade, then scoffed, "Stingy."

The steward’s mouth twitched. This was a piece of high-grade jade; it was quite good. Even this was considered stingy? What did the Heir want? Did he want them to send spirit stones? Those were things used for cultivation!

Rong Jun scanned the various gifts received at the banquet and didn't see anything that caught his eye. However, he was somewhat satisfied with the spirit rice sent by the Emperor of Great Yan, and his maternal family had sent a bag of spirit stones.

Rong Jun saw Qin Bi coming over, checked the sky, and carried the child to meet her before heading back.

Back in the room, Rong Jun handed the child to Qin Bi. The little guy, Rong Yang, was babbling in Qin Bi’s arms, and Qin Bi accompanied him, the child giggling from time to time.

Rong Jun sat down, poured a cup of tea, and said, "I will keep an eye on your eldest brother Qin Tang’s position. He has no spiritual roots, and his fortune and luck values are average, but his destiny—it’s surprisingly not low."

Qin Bi didn't know what to say. This was a world dominated by fortune and luck, and even the imperial examinations relied on them. If one couldn't bring either to the table, it was hard to find a position.

Besides, she couldn't control whether Rong Jun cared about the Marquis Mansion's affairs or not.

The fact that he even mentioned it to her might just be for the sake of the child.
