Transmigrating to a Life of Honor and Wealth: Raising the Heir of the Childless Heir
Chapter 9: Those with Good Talent Bring Their Whole Family to Cultivate Immortality
Rong Jun was busy, and the servants were even busier.
The Heir was simply causing chaos. How could looking after a child be something a Prince’s Heir should do? The baby was fussy and prone to crying at night, and the Princess Consort was useless. A matron stepped forward, only to be met with a cold, indifferent glance from Rong Jun.
The matron retreated, not daring to lift her head.
The maids also withdrew. With Qin Bi giving directions from the side, it took Rong Jun quite a while to get the child settled, wrapped in a small swaddle, and placed into the bedding. The child looked toward Qin Bi.
Qin Bi knew that a newborn couldn't see much, but she still smiled softly. "Oh, what are you looking at?"
The child stared with dark, round eyes, chewing on his tiny fist.
Qin Bi’s heart softened; she moved his little hand away, and Rong Jun scolded her, "Be careful."
Qin Bi lay on her side, staring at the child. She didn't know what she was looking for, but just watching him made her heart swell with joy; she couldn't get enough of him. It was summer, so Rong Jun checked the swaddle and lay down on the outer side.
Seeing the position, Qin Bi realized she wouldn't be next to the child. "I'll go to the edge. I'm afraid I might roll onto him if I fall asleep."
Rong Jun carried the child to the inside, and Qin Bi went to sleep on the outer edge. Rong Jun knew that Qin Bi was easily distracted and prone to internal exhaustion; if she worried about such trifles, she would never get to sleep, so there was no need for that.
Thus, Rong Jun slept in the middle, with the child on the inside.
"Go to sleep," Rong Jun said.
Qin Bi glanced at the child, who was wide-eyed and energetic, then lay back and closed her eyes. Rong Jun refused to let anyone else handle the child. This was just the beginning, but in a few days, he should have been letting the servants take care of him.
Unfortunately, Rong Jun had no such intention. He was incredibly stubborn—he had even requested leave from the morning court.
Qin Bi: "..."
This was definitely his biological child; she shouldn't have doubted it.
By the time the child’s full-month banquet arrived, Rong Jun had invited the Emperor of Great Yan again. All the noble families and court officials came to attend. As soon as Rong Jun caught the Emperor, he shoved the child into his arms.
"Your Majesty is blessed," Rong Jun said. "Hold my son more."
The Emperor of Great Yan accepted him happily and took a look. "Rong Jun, your son is truly handsome."
"Isn't he?" Rong Jun said proudly.
The Emperor agreed, "Very handsome."
Rong Jun’s smile became genuine. He refused to take the child back, insisting the Emperor hold him. The court officials twitched their lips; they had seen people trying to soak up good fortune, but never anyone who treated the Emperor so casually.
The ministers couldn't say anything, however, because the Emperor of Great Yan seemed quite pleased.
The child giggled at the Emperor, making him even happier. "Rong Jun, what is your son’s name?"
Rong Jun replied, "Rong Yang."
The *Yang* was a fierce bird of prey, powerful and ferocious, belonging to the rank of superior immortal beasts, yet possessing terrifying lethality. Rong Jun was a god of war in the Great Yan Kingdom, and the ministers pondered his choice of the name *Yang* for his son.
Given the Heir’s temperament, well, it was clear he hoped his son would never be at a disadvantage.
The Qin family also arrived. Qin Di and his wife, along with the people from the Marquis’s estate, first went to the Heir’s courtyard to see Qin Bi. Qin Bi’s health was weak and she needed quiet rest, but the Emperor of Great Yan did not mind such things.
"Aren't you going to the front courtyard?" the Marchioness of Qin Yan prompted Qin Bi.
"I'm not going." Qin Bi understood that in such situations, it was best to show one's face before the Emperor.
Qin Bi had no such desire. She had met the Emperor of Great Yan before; he was very amiable, chubby, and endearing. He looked like a man of great fortune, and the entire fortune of the Great Yan Kingdom seemed to be supported by this Emperor.
In this world of immortal cultivation, everything Qin Bi knew was hearsay; she knew nothing about cultivation itself. But she did know one thing: people in this world generally lived to be two or three hundred years old.
The Emperor of Great Yan was only in his twenties, so he still had a long life ahead of him.
She, however, was different. Back when she married He Yan, the anger had damaged her spirit and shortened her lifespan. Although Rong Jun had been nursing her for so long with medicinal pills, spiritual rice, and monster meat, her damaged lifespan had not been fully restored.
The Rong Prince’s estate was wealthy—a hereditary first-rank princedom that never saw its title demoted—but spiritual rice and medicinal pills were not cheap.
Qin Bi estimated that the entire estate had nearly emptied its treasury just to nurse her back to health.
The price of spiritual rice and pills was calculated in spirit stones; even those in the immortal sects couldn't afford to eat them every day.
"The little Heir is being held by the Emperor," a cousin told Qin Bi.
Qin Bi didn't respond. The younger generation of the Qin Yan Marquis’s estate didn't seem to hold her in higher regard just because she had married the Heir. They were chattering away, and Qin Bi, finding it noisy, stopped talking. The daughter-in-law of the Marquis of Qin Yan knew Qin Bi needed rest, so she stood up and led the others away.
The Marchioness of Qin Yan did not leave; only she and Lady He remained, having some things to instruct Qin Bi.
After the maids and matrons withdrew, the Marchioness said, "Qin Bi, now that you have given birth to a son, no one can touch your position as the primary wife. Treat the Heir well. Our Marquis’s estate is in decline; after your cousin, this title will be gone."
Without the title, the Marquis’s estate would be nothing but an empty shell.
Qin Bi couldn't coax Rong Jun. "Let Qin He go find the Heir of He."
The Marchioness sighed. The Heir of He only looked favorably upon the second branch of the family and was only decent to the Marquis’s heir, Qin Yan. The rest of the estate couldn't rely on him. Besides, the Yan Duke’s estate still remembered when the Marquis of Qin Yan had proposed a divorce after the marriage; they held a grudge.
Lady He also said, "Your eldest brother, Qin Tang, needs to find a position soon. His luck is mediocre, and without connections, it will be hard to secure a good post. Our estate isn't like others; they have many people with spiritual roots."
Qin Bi understood. This was a world built on luck and fortune. The reason the Qin Yan Marquis’s estate was in decline was that few had spiritual roots, or their talent was so low that even cultivation was a struggle.
The old Marquis of Qin Yan, her grandfather, had decent talent. The current Marquis and his heir, Qin Yan, were passable, and among the younger generation, only Qin He was worth mentioning. The others had almost no spiritual roots.
It had been this way since ancient times: a family would produce one talented individual to lead the rest in cultivation.
Since the Qin Yan Marquis’s estate had almost no one with spiritual roots, there was nothing to be done. They could only rely on the old Marquis to hold the estate together while scouting for a promising descendant. That was why the entire estate favored Qin He—her transmigration was actually a blessing for them.
Qin He had spiritual roots and could come up with all sorts of novel things, so the Marquis naturally valued her more.
Now, Qin He’s daughter was also a child of great fortune.
"Has your child been tested for spiritual roots?" the Marchioness asked.
This was what the Marquis had told her to ask.
How would Qin Bi know? "I don't concern myself with these things."
The Marchioness and Lady He exchanged a look. *Sigh*, that was to be expected. Qin Bi hadn't married Rong Jun because he liked her, but because the Heir was cursed to lose his wives and have no children; he had to marry regardless of his feelings.
There were some things Rong Jun might not tell Qin Bi.
The two sisters-in-law sat for a while longer before rising to head to the front courtyard. Rong Jun had been keeping the Emperor of Great Yan occupied with the child for most of the day.
Rong Jun didn't trust anyone else, but with the Emperor of Great Yan holding him, there was no risk of anything going wrong. His "fortune stat" was maxed out, and that wasn't just a saying—the Emperor was truly a man of immense, tangible good fortune.
