Transmigrating to a Life of Honor and Wealth: Raising the Heir of the Childless Heir

Chapter 36: She Wants to Sit in a Chair

Qin Bi roughly understood Rong Juan's thoughts; it was perhaps better not to take Rong Yang along.

Born as a concubine's daughter, she held no status in the Marquis of Qin Yan's manor. Rong Juan was merely worried that Rong Yang might be mistreated; a child pampered like a precious pearl by a man could not tolerate even the slightest slight from others.

Never mind how capable she was in her training; in the Marquis of Qin Yan's manor, Qin He was the one who held the most prestige.

Qin He's children were also highly valued by the household.

When Rong Yang turned back to look for her mother, Qin Bi smiled and coaxed the little one: "I'm just going to my maternal grandparents' house for a bit and will be back soon. Our Rong Yang is such a good girl."

Rong Yang seemed to understand and stopped making a fuss. Qin Bi stepped out of the study; she hadn't changed her clothes, so she went back to her room to grab a storage bag before heading to the front courtyard, where the manor's carriage was already prepared.

Upon entering the manor, Qin Yan and the others were about to head out and froze for a moment when they saw Qin Bi.

"Sister Qin Bi, why didn't you bring the child along?" Qin He's legitimate younger sister asked.

Qin Yan also added, "That's right, Sister Qin Bi. Sister Qin He often brings her children here to play."

"Stop talking and let's go," the legitimate daughter of the Fifth Branch urged. "Let's hurry to the Prince Xue's manor. Since they harvested so many good things, maybe Sister Qin He will be in a good mood and give us some."

The Fifth Branch's daughter was young, so her words carried little weight.

The older ones did not move, intending to exchange a few more pleasantries. The most obvious was the legitimate daughter of the Second Branch, Qin He's younger sister.

Qin Bi shot her a glance. She knew exactly what this cousin was thinking—she was mocking Qin Bi for having a hollow reputation in the manor, unable to even bring her own children back to her maiden home, unlike Qin He, who brought her precious Fu Bao every time she visited.

Qin Bi suddenly smiled, which the Second Branch cousin found piercingly irritating. Qin Bi merely let the smile pass; there was no point in talking with someone she didn't get along with. She headed toward the Fourth Branch's courtyard.

Qin Lang of the Third Branch was just about to leave when he received word and hurried over to meet Qin Bi.

"Sister," Qin Lang said, "why didn't you let me know?"

He was worried Qin Bi might run into Qin He.

"Are you going out?" Qin Bi asked with a smile.

"No rush," Qin Lang said as they walked. "I'll escort you to Fourth Aunt's courtyard."

Qin Di and Qin Tan were on good terms, and the children of the two branches were close. The Second Branch was close to the First and Fifth Branches. The First Branch was affectionate toward all its brothers, though they placed more importance on the Second Branch because of Qin He.

As long as Qin He could earn silver, that was enough.

The He clan members were already waiting in the living room, so Qin Bi went directly to Qin Di's study.

Seeing that she was there for a reason, Qin Di dismissed a servant to call for Qin Tang and Qin Xun, then asked, "Why the sudden visit?"

"I'll go call my father as well," Qin Lang said before leaving.

"Qin He's child went to the Monster Realm small space, and I heard they brought back over a hundred spiritual plants," Qin Bi said, her voice tinged with irritation. "I assume Father has heard from my brothers that when I left the Monster Realm small space after my training, I planted a few things."

Qin Di was no fool; he understood immediately. "Are you saying those spiritual plants were planted by you?"

She was merely stating it, but Qin Di didn't believe it was her. After all, the soil in this world was poor and difficult to farm; ordinary crops struggled to grow, so planting spiritual plants seemed like a joke.

Qin Bi nodded. "I planted them."

Qin Di was speechless for a long moment. After a while, he said, "Don't say you planted them when you're out. No one will believe you, and they'll only laugh at you. Qin He's child is blessed; the place where she found them might not be where you planted things."

Qin Bi was not an unreasonable person. She thought it made sense; she hadn't followed the summoning of the auspicious clouds, nor had she followed Qin He's child. The plants that were dug up by the auspicious clouds and replanted might not necessarily be the ones Qin He's child found.

Qin Tang and Qin Xun had already left the manor, but Qin Tan and Qin Lang arrived first.

"What happened?" Qin Tan asked.

Since there were no outsiders in the study, Qin Di explained Qin Bi's suspicion.

Qin Tan also felt that Qin Bi was overthinking it. Qin He's child indeed possessed high fortune, and during this training trip, two auspicious clouds had appeared in the dark clouds, signaling excellent luck for the journey.

"You and Qin He are at odds. It's fine to tell us, but don't bring it up again in the future." Qin Tan, thinking Qin Bi was being petty or perhaps jealous, added, "I hate to say something you might not like, but Qin He's child truly does have a bit of luck."

At that moment, Qin Tang and Qin Xun arrived. Having heard the gist of the conversation, they stood aside in silence.

After Qin Tan finished, he thought Qin Bi would continue to obsess over whether she was the one who planted the plants.

To his surprise, Qin Bi pulled out a storage bag. "My summoning of the auspicious clouds brought back the soil from the Monster Realm small space."

Qin Tan and Qin Di were astonished. Someone without fortune or luck could not bring back soil from the Monster Realm small space. Since Qin Bi hadn't mentioned it, even Qin Tang and the others had forgotten she possessed the ability to summon auspicious clouds.

"How is the soil?" Qin Tan asked, interested in the excavated earth.

"You'll see once we look." Qin Bi took the storage bag and left the study.

Qin Tan and the others followed. After clearing a spot in the courtyard, Qin Bi opened the storage bag and poured the soil out. Qin Tang and the others immediately crowded around; with just one look, they could tell the soil quality was excellent.

Qin Tan, being a county magistrate, placed great importance on agriculture. He leaned down, grabbed a handful of soil, and rubbed it between his fingers, looking pleasantly surprised. "This is mid-grade soil. It has some sandy texture; it should be quite good for growing crops."

That wasn't quite what Qin Bi meant, but she said, "Third Uncle, please pour some water!"

The soil in this world lacked moisture. Since Qin Bi had gone to the trouble of digging it up, she clearly intended to plant something. Qin Lang and Qin Xun hurried to fetch water, while Qin Tang and Qin Di were responsible for spreading the soil out to let it dry.

In the Great Yan Kingdom, high-grade soil was a rarity.

Qin Lang and Qin Xun soon returned with a bucket of water each. Qin Tan rolled up his sleeves, prepared to water the soil. After several rounds of watering, the soil quality improved.

Looking at the soil, Qin Bi said, "The spiritual plants that Qin He's child dug up definitely belong to me."

Qin Tan's hand paused. *Here we go again.* This child was being so unreasonable.

Qin Lang leaned in. "Sister, they've already dug them up and brought them back."

In short, there was no point in arguing this.

"No one can take what is mine." Qin Bi had a strange sense of certainty.

Qin Lang looked at her without speaking, thinking she was being foolish. They had already been dug up, yet she still claimed they couldn't be taken; it was a pointless thing to say. Qin Di felt the same way.

Qin Bi took a deep breath and decided to go all out. She asked her father, "Can you bring me a chair to sit on?"

Qin Di: "..."

"Unbelievable!" Qin Lang's lip twitched.

Qin Tan was also amused by her audacity. He and Qin Di, the two elders, were standing right here. Instead of bringing a chair for them, Qin Bi, a junior, wanted a chair for herself while her two brothers were present.

"And why is that?" Qin Tan asked with a half-smile.

"If you let me sit in a chair, maybe I'll get a share of the spiritual plants." Qin Bi wasn't entirely sure; it was just a feeling. She decided to follow her intuition and go for it—as long as the elders permitted it, there was nothing wrong with sitting in a chair.

Qin Bi didn't dare be too certain, her tone carrying a hint of a joke.

Qin Tan and Qin Di didn't want to acknowledge her; they figured the child was simply upset by Qin He.
