Transmigrating Through the Interstellar: My Wife's Glory and My Honor
Chapter 51: Incompetent at Alchemy
Fortunately, the construction materials of future interstellar buildings are sturdy; otherwise, she wondered if this building would collapse by the time she finished using up the spiritual plants in her hands.
This thought was a bit exaggerated; blowing up a building was simply impossible.
The two furnace explosions had been completely beyond Luo Bi's control. Feeling frustrated, she was desperate to try again to see if her method was wrong or if she was simply a talentless waste when it came to alchemy. It was already close to noon, and time was short. With a headache setting in, Luo Bi decided to try again in the afternoon.
At noon, Feng Ling returned with food and checked in on Luo Bi's alchemy progress before heading back to the military.
Luo Bi lay on the bed for a midday nap, though she couldn't actually sleep; she was merely closing her eyes to conserve her energy until she could no longer bear to lie still and would get up to refine medicine.
As it turned out, two hours later, another furnace exploded. With a loud "bang," those who heard the commotion were startled. Good heavens! What happened now? Once in the morning and once in the afternoon—it was never-ending.
Colonel Roger was on good terms with Feng Ling, so he ran to the Combat Department to find him, teasingly saying, "What exactly is going on with your new wife? If she's no good at alchemy, she shouldn't do it; these sudden scares aren't good." Exploding the furnace twice in one day was quite something.
Feng Ling merely raised his eyes indifferently. "She'll get used to it."
Roger tapped the table. "The path of alchemy is the most expensive in terms of interstellar credits. Are you just going to let her toss them away like that?"
Feng Ling replied calmly, "I can afford to support her for the time being."
Roger thought for a moment and said, "That's for the best. With that 'waste' attribute of hers, combined with a lack of talent in alchemy, she at least won't harbor any other ambitions." Qiu Qiu had too much ambition, which was why she had climbed her way to the Imperial Star by latching onto Rong Peijun.
Luo Bi was different. Regardless of whether she had ambition or not, given her high probability of exploding furnaces, even the wildest ambition would have to be suppressed.
Feng Ling gave a light scoff and changed the subject. "When you have time, let your Hu Li give my wife some guidance."
"Sure, I'll mention it to Hu Li later," Roger agreed readily. His wife, Hu Li, was a Level 3 dual-attribute Contractor; she would have more than enough skill to guide Luo Bi.
Hu Li was a senior Contractor stationed at the military base and belonged to the military department. After work, Roger picked her up and they went to the base cafeteria for dinner, during which Roger mentioned the matter of guiding Luo Bi.
"You should go take a look. Constantly exploding the furnace isn't a sustainable way to live," Roger said.
Hu Li was a standard great beauty, famous for her good temperament and understanding nature. Hearing this, she smiled and said, "I'll go take a look after dinner."
What Roger and the others knew was that Luo Bi had exploded her furnace twice, but Luo Bi knew the truth: she had attempted to refine medicine three times and exploded the furnace three times. What did that number signify? She was a failure at alchemy, and this path was a dead end; continuing would only waste interstellar credits.
But Luo Bi was truly unwilling to accept it. She handled spiritual and medicinal plants as if she were playing; she felt she was quite capable! Why was she so bad at alchemy?
No matter how reluctantly Luo Bi accepted it, the fact seemed to be that she was incompetent at alchemy.
After thinking it over for a long while, Luo Bi stopped obsessing. If this path was blocked, she would simply switch to another. At worst, she would choose energy crystals and stone gambling instead; surely she wouldn't be so unlucky that she'd fail at those too!
If that truly happened, damn it, Luo Bi would just have to accept it. If she lacked ability, who could she blame?
However, Luo Bi still had the spiritual plants for refining Hemostatic Powder in her hands; even if she gave up, she would use them up first. Today was out of the question, as both her mental strength and soul source power were significantly depleted. She would continue tomorrow. Regardless of whether the furnace exploded, let it explode. It had already exploded three times; who would care about a few more?
