Transmigrating Through the Interstellar: My Wife's Glory and My Honor
Chapter 57: Colonel Roger
Finally finishing the meal, Luo Bi was just about to leave when Roger handed her a glass of juice with a smile.
Luo Bi didn't move. "Thank you." A simple glass of juice cost ten Interstellar Credits; since they weren't friends or relatives, she had no reason to accept something for free.
Roger didn't seem to mind whether she drank it or not. He looked at her smilingly and asked, "Didn't you refine medicine yesterday? Why didn't I hear anything?"
The question was incredibly tactless. Luo Bi smiled and replied, "I did, but it was half-baked and unsuccessful."
The phrasing caused Roger to choke slightly. He asked teasingly, "Did you refine today, then?" Since she failed yesterday, she should have blown something up today, right? Roger didn't believe for a second that a "waste" like Luo Bi could actually refine spiritual medicine.
This woman was clearly just taking advantage of Feng Ling's indulgence to mess around. Once she blew through all the Interstellar Credits Feng Ling had saved up, maybe she would finally settle down.
Luo Bi glanced at him. "I am. Why wouldn't I? I'm refining this afternoon." She had originally intended to rest for a couple of days, but since someone was looking forward to it, she might as well satisfy them.
Roger was simply a person with malicious tendencies. Having gathered the information he wanted, his peach-blossom eyes flickered as he said, "Do you know something? Hua Chen applied to the military for three pieces of Jadeite for your cousin, Luo Yan, and the military approved it that same day. Currently, Hua Chen is on the Imperial Star accompanying Luo Yan for her apprentice assessment. Didn't Feng Ling apply for yours a long time ago? Why haven't you gone with them?"
Hua Chen had once been Luo Bi's fiancé, yet in the blink of an eye, he was engaged to Luo Yan. This news had already spread throughout the military base. Roger knew the inside story best, yet he still brought up matters concerning those two right in front of Luo Bi.
His intentions were blatant.
Luo Bi's expression cooled. "I don't want to go for the time being."
Roger was slightly surprised. He had always believed that Luo Bi married Feng Ling so quickly just to enjoy the benefits of being a military spouse. Now that the Jadeite had been approved and she still wouldn't go to the Imperial Star for the assessment, what kind of scheme was this woman plotting?
He felt a sense of disdain. *Aren't you the one with all the schemes? In the end, your cousin still snatched your fiancé away. Tsk tsk, serves you right.*
Luo Bi had no interest in sitting down any longer. She stood up with her tray. "I'm leaving now."
"Drink the juice before you go," Roger called out to her. He still had more information to fish out!
"I just ate; I can't drink any more. Goodbye." Luo Bi turned and walked away. She knew that unsolicited kindness was usually a sign of ulterior motives, and she had no interest in playing games with Roger.
Roger curled his lip. "She's a fast one." He took the juice and drank it himself. He had been kind enough to order a drink for the woman—even if it was the cheapest kind—and she wouldn't even take it. Fine, he'd deal with it himself.
Lan Ze leaned back against his chair and finally spoke. "Don't underestimate her; she's full of schemes! My wife told me that this woman's character isn't even as good as Zhang Hui's or Qiu Qiu's!"
Roger nodded, agreeing. He took the special communicator off his wrist and dialed a number, giving a wicked smile. "Hua Chen doesn't know about her marriage to Feng Ling yet. I'll give him a little tip."
Roger was truly someone who lived for chaos.
Lan Ze shook his head but did not stop him. He was happy to cause a little trouble for that woman; after all, she was the one who instigated Zhang Hui to bully his wife. This was simply giving her a taste of her own medicine.
Luo Bi was unaware of the little scheme Roger was running behind her back. After returning home, she took a half-hour nap before getting up to refine medicine. Driven by a bit of luck, after guiding out the fire source, she attempted to use her mental strength to penetrate the Red Jadeite just like she had yesterday. However, the inside was pitch black with no patterns visible. To avoid destroying the stone, she withdrew.
When the sound of a furnace explosion rang out again, Roger was uncharacteristically stunned before laughing. "She actually did refine medicine?" He had thought her words yesterday were just an angry outburst.
