Transmigrated as an Ability-User Girl in the Eighties
Chapter 12: Target
Luo Qiao thought that in a few days, once her health had improved, she would wander around the mountains to find some medicinal herbs to exchange for money, so she could buy this courtyard of the female youth dormitory.
This would prevent her from having to move if someone from the village happened to buy it one day.
The courtyard of the female youth dormitory had two main rooms, a kitchen, and a storage room. Luo Qiao actually quite liked it, primarily because there was a well in the yard, which was very convenient.
Gao Suhua had gained nothing from Luo Qiao. She thought to herself that this girl was quite bold to dare not open the door for her—just you wait.
For the next two days, Luo Qiao did nothing but recuperate in the courtyard. The well water from her space was truly a wonderful thing; in just two days, she felt her body had improved significantly.
Although she still looked like a frail, small frame on the outside, her constitution was vastly different compared to before, and her skin clearly looked much better.
Additionally, since she had been using various ways to cook nourishing food for herself within the space over the past two days, Luo Qiao decided that she would go to the production team leader tomorrow to arrange some work to do, otherwise, people would start gossiping.
Luo Qiao had also been thinking over the past two days; this body of hers was only fifteen years old, and she certainly couldn't stay in the village like this forever. It was only the early 1980s, and she still had to find a way to go to school—at the very least, she needed a diploma.
When the original owner of this body was sent down to the farm with the Luo family, she had never attended school. Firstly, because of her family background, she was often bullied by her peers; secondly, the Luo family did not want her to go to school.
However, the original owner was clever. There were many educated people on the farm, and since she was sweet-spoken and sensible, the elderly Yang couple living next door had taught her quite a bit. When the couple returned to the city, they even encouraged her to make sure she went to school if she ever had the chance.
Unfortunately, after the Luo family was rehabilitated and returned to the city, they sent her here just a few days later. Luo Qiao would remember what the Luo couple had done to the original owner; one day, she would make them regret it.
She found a piece of paper in the pocket of an old set of clothes from her bundle. On it were two addresses left by Grandpa Yang and Grandma Yang, her neighbors at the farm, and Grandpa Yuan, who lived not far from her house.
Back at the farm, these people had taken great care of her. They used to joke that the original owner didn't look like the Luo family, and seeing that Luo Tianming and Feng Hui were not close to her, they even teased her that she had been picked up from outside.
Heh, the eyes of the masses are sharp.
Luo Qiao put the note away in the study of her space. She noted that that woman, Gao Suhua, had not come to disturb her these past few days; she wasn't sure if the woman had given up or was brewing something big.
Early the next morning, after eating breakfast and tidying herself up, Luo Qiao went to the riverside. The production team leader's wife had previously told her that they had to gather there to wait for work assignments.
Luo Qiao arrived not too late. The production team leader, Gao Jiefang, was already standing there waiting. Luo Qiao walked over and said, "Hello, Team Leader, I'm here for work."
Seeing that her spirit was indeed much better, the Team Leader kindly reminded her, "Make sure you are fully recovered before you start working. Don't let any lingering illnesses remain."
Luo Qiao smiled and said, "Thank you, Team Leader. I'm feeling mostly better. I have to support myself, after all." As soon as she said this, several sympathetic glances were cast her way.
A woman nearby remarked, "Look at her, she's as thin as a bamboo pole. What kind of work can she do? No wonder the Zhao family didn't want her."
A woman who felt sympathy for Luo Qiao said, "Sister Xiulan, the girl is already quite pitiful. She has to take it slow. Weren't we all unable to do anything when we were her age?"
