Chapter 5: An Unfamiliar Transmigration

“Mother Empress.” Nangong Ye glared at Gu Yiyi, who was acting on borrowed authority, and looked toward the Empress Dowager.

The Empress Dowager smiled. “Alright, whatever it is, we can discuss it tomorrow. After all, Yiyi is a princess, so do not be too impatient.”

Then, despite Nangong Ye's ineffective protests, Gu Yiyi followed the Empress Dowager away.

Only after their figures had departed did Nangong Ye call out coldly into the darkness, “Someone, discard all the bedding and sheets.”

“Yes,” the palace maids hiding in the shadows replied tremulously.

They were accustomed to such orders, yet they were still terrified of such a violent Emperor.

Leaving Nangong Ye's quarters, Gu Yiyi was led along by the Empress Dowager, who held her hand.

“Yiyi, were you frightened?” The beautiful Empress Dowager spoke very slowly, causing Gu Yiyi to unconsciously slow her own pace to match.

“Fortunately, you arrived in time, Empress Dowager.”

The Empress Dowager patted her hand lightly. “Do not blame Ye'er; the child is just impatient. In truth, he meant no harm.”

Did this count as favoritism? No harm intended? She had almost been... done in by him, and the Empress Dowager actually said he meant no harm?

Gu Yiyi pouted and remained silent.

“Alright, it is late. You should return to Xingmo Hall to rest for now.”

Watching the Empress Dowager depart, Gu Yiyi stood blankly in place for a long time, unable to snap out of it. Everything around her was unfamiliar—the carved beams and painted pillars, the rare glow of lanterns and candlelight, the pitch-black distance... all of this told her that this was no longer the time and space she belonged to.

She had actually traveled through time. How strange.

But...

If the Earth of 2012 truly met its end, would this time and space not cease to exist as well?
