The School Beauty's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 4: Looking Down on People

“Sir, who are you looking for?”

Having only walked a few steps, Lin Yi was stopped by the building’s security guard.

“Wait a second, let me check.”

Lin Yi thought to himself that big cities were indeed formal, having security guards and all. However, this guard was just for show; he wasn’t even as tough as Er Gou Dan.

Er Gou Dan was a childhood friend of Lin Yi’s. Although he didn’t know any martial arts, he could kill a cow with a single punch.

In Lin Yi’s eyes, this security guard was far inferior to a cow; he wasn’t even as strong as one.

Lin Yi fished a slip of paper out of his pants pocket, glanced at the writing on it, and said, “I’m looking for Chu Pengzhan.”

“Chu Pengzhan? Who’s that? Why does that name sound so familiar?”

The security guard was stunned and muttered the name to himself.

“That’s the Chairman!”

Another, older security guard standing nearby reacted quickly. He immediately realized who Chu Pengzhan was and was shocked.

He hurriedly tugged at the corner of the first guard’s uniform and whispered, “Don’t talk nonsense! If the captain hears you, watch out for getting fired!”

“Ah!”

Upon hearing the older guard’s words, the first guard was startled, his eyes widening in regret for his loose tongue.

Why was he blabbering about things he didn’t know?

Now he was in trouble—he didn’t even recognize the Chairman, so what kind of security guard was he? Who was he protecting?

However, the guard looked at Lin Yi’s attire, his eyes darting around, and he stopped feeling afraid.

No matter how he looked at him, Lin Yi didn’t seem like someone who could have any connection to the Chairman. One was the chairman of a massive Fortune 500 group, and the other was a migrant worker who had just arrived in the city from the countryside. They didn’t seem to have any connection at all.

Could this kid be from some construction site, here to complain to the Chairman?

Thinking of this, the guard’s vigilance spiked. He had just watched a similar movie a couple of days ago where a migrant worker went to find a CEO to demand money.

With that thought, the guard exchanged a look with the older guard. Clearly, they had both arrived at the same conclusion.

“What do you want with Chairman Chu?”

The older guard cleared his throat and stared at Lin Yi with a serious expression, afraid he might do something extreme.

“It’s not me looking for him; it’s my old man who told me to find him.”

Lin Yi said lazily.

He didn’t care at all what kind of status his employer had in the real world; either way, they were the ones asking him for a favor.

“Oh? Your old man?”

Hearing Lin Yi’s words, the two guards were even more convinced. In the movie, that migrant worker was asking for money on behalf of his brother; this kid in front of them was definitely asking for money on behalf of his father.

“Alright, enough with the useless talk. Just tell me which floor Chu Pengzhan is on, and I’ll go find him!”

Lin Yi didn’t have time to waste on these two little guards; he wanted to see the man himself as soon as possible.

“The Chairman isn’t here. You can go now…”

The older guard looked Lin Yi up and down again, and having confirmed that he absolutely couldn’t have any relationship with the Chairman, he issued a direct order to leave.

Lin Yi couldn’t be bothered to haggle with these two. He naturally saw the looks in their eyes, and he could guess what they were thinking nine times out of ten—wasn’t it just because he looked rustic?

Dogs looking down on people!

“Since he’s not here, I’ll just go inside and wait for him!”

After saying that, Lin Yi strode toward the inside of the company.

“Wait, you can’t go in!”

The two guards hadn’t expected Lin Yi to dare to force his way in, and they hurriedly tried to stop him.

Just at that moment, the elevator door on the first floor opened, and a slightly stout middle-aged man and a somewhat thin, dark-skinned middle-aged man stepped out together.

“Calculating the time, it should be about right. Why hasn’t the kid, Xiao Yi, contacted me yet? Li Fu, why don’t you just drive to the station to pick him up? You’ve already seen the photo, haven’t you?”

The slightly stout middle-aged man instructed the other thin, dark-skinned man.

“Very well, Chairman Chu. I’ll head over right now.”

Li Fu replied respectfully.

Before Li Fu could even leave, Chu Pengzhan heard the commotion at the company entrance and frowned. “Go see what’s going on first.”

“What’s going on?”

Li Fu walked quickly toward the entrance and saw the two company guards blocking a young man from entering.

“Uncle Fu, this person says he’s looking for the Chairman, and he’s trying to force his way into the company…”

The guards naturally recognized Li Fu. Although Li Fu didn’t have a specific administrative title in the company, he was the person closest to the Chairman!

If one had to define his position in the company, it could only be said that he was Chairman Chu’s driver.

However, everyone in the company knew that Li Fu was much more than just a driver.

Therefore, these guards didn’t treat Li Fu as a driver at all, but respected him like a superior.

In many cases, Li Fu’s words represented the Chairman’s will.

“You…”

Li Fu looked at Lin Yi, his eyes widening in surprise. “You are Lin Yi?”

“That’s me.”

Lin Yi glanced at Li Fu and nodded.

From the moment Li Fu appeared, Lin Yi had been observing him. By intuition, this person was not Chu Pengzhan.

As the chairman of a group, one naturally possesses the majestic aura of a person in power, but this man lacked that. Although he was serious and respected by others, a person’s aura could not be disguised.

“Hello!”

Li Fu knew how much importance Chu Pengzhan placed on this young man, so once he confirmed Lin Yi’s identity, he didn’t dare to be negligent and hurriedly reached out to shake Lin Yi’s hand.

“I am Chairman Chu’s secretary, Li Fu. The Chairman was just about to have me go to the train station to pick you up. I didn’t expect you to have arrived already!”

“It’s no problem, just consider it getting familiar with the route.”

Lin Yi smiled and shook Li Fu’s hand.

Lin Yi’s personality was like this: if you respect me, I will respect you. Seeing Li Fu being so polite, Lin Yi actually felt a bit embarrassed.

“The Chairman is right over there. Please follow me, let’s go see him together.”

Li Fu made a gesture of invitation and then walked in front to lead the way.

The two guards stood there blankly, watching Lin Yi’s back, their mouths agape in shock.

“He really is the Chairman’s guest?”

The younger guard muttered in disbelief.

“Uncle Fu came to pick him up personally, so there’s no mistake!”

The older guard sighed. “We almost offended him. It’s a good thing Uncle Fu came over in time. If we had really kicked him out, we would have been in deep trouble!”

As Li Fu walked over, Lin Yi began to pay attention to the other slightly stout middle-aged man not far away. If his guess was correct, this was the person he was here to see: the chairman of the Pengzhan Group, Chu Pengzhan.

“Lin Yi, right?”

As Lin Yi followed Li Fu over, Chu Pengzhan also strode toward them, extending his right hand in a very friendly manner.
