Chapter 4: Rebirth, Struggling Against Fate

Watching the expressions shifting back and forth on Tao Qianning's face, Tao Qianyu and Tao Xuanyun knew she must be worrying about her health again. Tao Qianyu felt a wave of emotion; in her past life, she had possessed a healthy body but lacked a complete family, and in this life, she finally had a happy and warm home, but her body had paid the price. Should she thank God for closing one door and luckily not shutting the window as well? "Ahem, Second Sister, listen closely. Regarding that fanatic pursuer of yours, the one who insists he will marry no one but you, Dongfang Xuanyin—Little Sister already has a plan." She looked quite smug, raising an eyebrow and crossing her arms while lightly shaking her left foot. Her cute appearance made one want to take a bite out of her, as if she were waiting for everyone to say, "Quick, beg me! Beg me!"

There was no helping it; Dongfang Xuanyin was no small character and was not easily dismissed. Poisons had been tested, fights had been had, and even the unique secret technique, the Sound Kill Skill, had been used. His schemes were not to be underestimated, and his background was that of a prominent family. Furthermore, he seemed to have hit it off with Tao Lingfei immediately; as soon as he arrived, he stayed to study medicine with Father Tao. Logically speaking, he should have been interested in Tao Qianyu—otherwise, why would he come to the door to study poison antidotes with Father Tao? Yet, he happened to set his sights on the Second Young Miss. It seemed his intentions were not what they appeared to be.

Although Tao Qianyu was only interested in poison arts and money, this was after all her Second Sister's lifelong matter, and she had to vet him. If he couldn't pass her test, he could go take a hike. The more extraordinary a person was, the more she wanted to meet them. If that Dongfang Xuanyin truly was something special, then...

Thinking of the possibilities, a spark of excitement overflowed in Tao Qianyu's eyes; she wouldn't admit that the little universe within her heart was starting to stir.

As soon as Tao Qianning heard this, she could no longer sit still and jumped up, "Is what Little Sister says true? Do you really have a way to deal with him?"

"Little Sister, quick, tell us! Tell us! I'll call you my little strategist. Look, my bones are turning to mush. If you don't tell us soon, I'll die of anxiety."

As she spoke, she pulled Tao Qianyu's hand and pressed her down onto the soft couch, her face full of pleasant surprise. When the beauty smiled, even the flowers and grass lost their luster.

'Whew~' She had finally reclaimed her little nest. Why did she get sleepy as soon as she sat down? Big Brother was right; she really was a reincarnated little piglet.

Yawning again, she waved a hand at Tao Qianning and Tao Xuanyun.

"Big Brother, Second Sister, Little Sister is truly sleepy. I'm going to catch up on some sleep first. Leave this matter to me, rest assured. It is my duty to drive away the bees and butterflies for Second Sister. Right now, the important thing is to wait until I've slept my fill (another big yawn) so I have the energy, right? It wasn't her fault; after being hit by that damn thing, she didn't know why she felt weak all day if she didn't take an afternoon nap. And so, before she could even finish her sentence, she had already drifted off to sleep.

Tao Xuanyun picked up a thin quilt and carefully covered her, checking closely to see if she was properly tucked in. He brushed the stray hairs away from her forehead and whispered, "Sleep, little piglet."

Tao Qianning smiled tenderly. Big Brother was truly the most attentive; she, on the other hand, was a bit careless. Knowing that Little Sister was prone to sleepiness, she had still insisted on dragging her for ideas.

"Big Brother, you don't blame me, do you?"

Tao Xuanyun gave Tao Qianning a light, annoyed flick on the forehead. "You girl, what are you saying? You are just as important as Yu'er. Even if you don't look for Yu'er, Yu'er will look for you. Go down and check on Mother first; I'll watch over Yu'er."

"Heehee, I know, I know. You don't trust anyone else to watch Little Sister except for yourself. Then I'll go check on Mother!" Tao Qianning stuck out her little tongue and walked away happily.

Tao Xuanyun curled his lips into a smile and shook his head amusedly. This girl Qianning had a temperament even wilder than Yu'er's. Suddenly, he leaped into a tree, quietly keeping watch.

Only the gentle breeze continued to blow.
