The Blessed Wife with a Spatial Dimension Travels Back to the 1980s

Chapter 2: Chapter 2, With Dad

Little brother, heh, that cheap mother of hers is impossible to let go.

Wen Nanxing is nothing but an ingrate.

Before he got married, he lived off his mother for everything; after he got married, he tossed his mother aside. He’d only show up if he needed something, otherwise, he was nowhere to be found.

And that wife of his is no pushover either.

After staying in the hospital for a day, once the doctor said there was nothing major, Wen Nanshuang was taken home by Father Wen.

Upon returning home, Jiang Li didn't even glance at her daughter; she tossed out two sheets of paper—a divorce agreement.

Wen Nanshuang leaned over to take a look. Seeing some of the handwritten conditions, she rolled her eyes in her heart.

Just as it was in the original owner's memories—shameless.

Father Wen took a look, then smiled at Nanshuang and Nanxing.

"Are you coming with Mom or Dad?" he asked again.

Wen Nanshuang didn't even think about it, speaking up immediately: "I'm going with Dad." She had been in the hospital for a day, and her mother hadn't shown up even once; why the hell would she go with her?

Nanxing looked at this one, then at that one.

In the end, he chose Mom.

Father Wen sighed, "Alright then, if you want to go with Mom, then go with Mom." Father Wen didn't press the issue further.

He figured Jiang Li must have spent the day bad-mouthing him to Nanxing again.

Father Wen also wrote a section by hand, and then the two signed their names.

"Let's go, let's go get the paperwork done," Jiang Li said, unable to wait.

"Fine." Wen Hao, of course, wouldn't try to hold her back.

And so, on the second day after Wen Nanshuang transmigrated, her parents got divorced.

And she went with her father.

As soon as the divorce was finalized, Father Wen and Nanshuang were kicked out of the house by Jiang Li.

You could say there wasn't a shred of affection left.

Gathering his things, Wen Hao didn't even look back as he pulled his daughter away.

From her memories, she knew it was the early 1980s on Blue Star, and the college entrance exam had only been reinstated a few years prior.

Whether it was technology or anything else, everything was lagging behind.

You even needed a permit just to stay at a guesthouse.

With no other choice, Wen Hao had to take his daughter to stay at his good friend's house.

His friend lived alone; his parents had already passed away.

He was the only one left in his family, and the original house had been returned to him.

As for the things inside the house, there was nothing left for Wen Hao; they had long since disappeared.

"You really divorced?" Wen Hao's friend looked at him, then opened the door to let him in.

"Yeah, I got custody of my daughter," Wen Hao said with a smile on his face.

"And then? You got nothing?" Liangzi looked at him in disbelief.

He knew his friend's character better than anyone.

Whether now or in the past, he was never a pushover; it was hard to believe he was willing to take such a huge loss.

"Having my daughter is enough for me." Wen Hao was, of course, unhappy about it, but what could he do? There was still a son on the other side, and Jiang Li was someone who didn't contribute to the household.

If the son stayed with her and didn't have any money, how would they live in the future?

Fortunately, Nanshuang didn't know her father's thoughts, or she would have really wanted to slap the original owner.

Look at that—even after leaving the house, he was still thinking about his children.

"You're really willing to let it go? But the payment for the last shipment hasn't been settled yet. You aren't going to collect it and give it to her, are you?" Liangzi asked with some concern.

"We'll see." In truth, there wasn't much money left; between the savings book and the cash on hand, it was less than five thousand.

He was worried about their future life.

He could put Jiang Li out of his mind, but he couldn't ignore Nanxing.

"Still 'we'll see'? Haozi, you haven't forgotten how that money was earned, have you? You used to bring every cent home, but did she ever give you a single penny when you went out?" Liangzi felt indignant on Wen Hao's behalf.

"That was my home, my wife."

The two talked while they tidied up.

Nanshuang finished cleaning her room, and her father and his friend came out.

The house was quite large, a typical rural courtyard.

It was U-shaped, more than enough for three people to live in.

"Is Nanshuang all settled?" Seeing Nanshuang, Liangzi shut his mouth, stopping the talk of those frustrating matters.

He would try to persuade him again when they were alone.

"Uncle Liangzi." Nanshuang recognized her father's friend.

Sometimes when her father went out to eat, he would bring her along.

"Hey, let's go out to eat in a bit, have a big meal. Uncle will buy you some braised pork."

Nowadays, food stamps hadn't been abolished yet; going out to eat didn't just cost money, it required stamps.

"No need, let's eat at home. I'll cook." The original owner was a great cook, and beyond that, Wen Nanshuang herself was a food lover.

On her days off, she would always cook for herself at home.

It might not compare to those high-end restaurants, but it was definitely better than what the average housewife could make.

Wen Hao knew his daughter's intentions; she was afraid of spending money.

Not wanting his daughter to worry, Wen Hao shook his head at Liangzi, "We'll eat at home. We'll go out and buy some groceries in a bit."

Don't let Wen Hao's rural upbringing fool you; he was a capable man. After the country announced the college entrance exam, he had tried every possible way to move his family's household registration to the city.

He didn't want his children to be like him—uneducated.

He had suffered because of his lack of education.

It was just that no one expected that after spending several years getting into the city, this would be the result.

Fortunately, he had been prepared for a long time.

That day, everyone felt quite dejected.

After dinner, Wen Nanshuang went back to her room.

Meanwhile, Wen Hao and Liangzi were still drinking.

"Haozi, what are you planning to do next? You can't take Nanshuang back to your hometown, can you?"

Liangzi was very worried about his friend's future.

"You should just keep that money. Buy a house when the time comes. You can't let Nanshuang and your household registration stay at that house forever."

Nowadays, if you didn't have a house in the city, you couldn't register your residency.

Since they were divorced, if the head of that household didn't agree, Wen Hao and Wen Nanshuang would have to return to their hometown.

"You're right. I should think about Nanshuang."

Outside, they were making plans for the future, but inside Nanshuang's room, her face was flushed red.

Why?

Because her long-overdue golden finger had arrived.

An unknown energy was rampaging through her body, destroying her tendons and bones. Being able to endure this pain without making a sound already made her a tough person.

Wen Nanshuang came from a world of martial cultivation. In that world, she was a cripple, which was why she lived alone at such a young age.

She was all too familiar with this energy. No matter how great the pain, she could endure it, because she knew what this energy was for.

She just hadn't expected that when she came to a new world, this energy would follow her.

In her past life, she had become a cripple because of this energy and had been cast out by her family. It was laughable that someone with so many family members had ended up living like an orphan.

Sitting in a lotus position, she slowly controlled the energy, preventing it from turning her into a cripple once again.

She didn't know how much time had passed, but a foul odor began to emanate from Wen Nanshuang's body—it was unbearable.

Fortunately, Wen Hao and Liangzi had gone out, otherwise, they would have surely noticed that something was wrong with Wen Nanshuang.

After the stench came the black sludge covering her skin.

Just as the black sludge enveloped her, the person who had been sitting cross-legged on the bed vanished from the room in a flash.
