Chapter 26: Owing Qiao Nian's Mother a Great Favor

Once Qiao Nian finished applying the medicine, the group left Nanyuan.

The Jiang family's car was parked right outside the hospital.

Elder Mr. Jiang was elderly and in poor health; having been out all day, his body could no longer endure the strain. His thin, spirited face looked somewhat weary at this moment. Mr. Jiang pushed the wheelchair and said to Qiao Nian, "Niannian, I'll take your grandfather back to rest first. Will you be okay going to school by yourself tomorrow?"

Qiao Nian nodded. "No problem."

Jiang Li proactively walked over. "Uncle, don't worry. I'm still here. I'll take her to school later, so you can rest easy!"

Jiang Zongnan made a motion as if to kick him, saying sternly, "You brat, you better take good care of your sister, you hear me? Don't be acting all muddled all day long. If anything happens to your sister, you'll answer to me!"

Jiang Li knew his uncle looked down on him. He gave a grunt, his ear stud glinting as he replied with a nonchalant air, "I got it."

Jiang Zongnan took a bank card out of his wallet and handed it to him. His gaze softened as he looked at Qiao Nian, and he said, "Take this. Go to the mall later and buy your sister a set of clothes."

Jiang Li didn't take it. Tilting his chin up slightly, he said irritably, "I don't want it, you keep it! As her brother, I can afford to buy Niannian clothes; there's no need for the family to shell out the money!"

Seeing that he refused to accept it, Jiang Zongnan walked up to Qiao Nian and pressed the gold card into her hand. With a look of apology, he said, "Niannian, your second uncle hasn't brought you much of a meeting gift. Take this. Use it to buy whatever you want. If there isn't enough money, tell your second brother and I'll transfer more to you."

The one thing Qiao Nian lacked was not money!

She looked at the bank card Jiang Zongnan had pressed into her hand. It was a Citibank card. She also held a Black Card at this bank, which Wei Lou and the others used to transfer money to her. Although what Jiang Zongnan gave her wasn't a Black Card, it was a Gold Card. She remembered the bank manager telling her when she applied for her cards that the minimum deposit for a Citibank Gold Card was 5 million. There was quite a bit of money in this card...

"Just take it! Your second aunt and sister should have come with us but didn't. If you don't accept this, I won't feel right."

Seeing that she hadn't taken it, a sense of gratification passed through Elder Mr. Jiang's eyes. He spoke gently, "If your second uncle gives it to you, then take it. He should have given you a grand meeting gift to begin with; this is actually quite small."

Jiang Zongnan carried the aura of a successful man. He gave a slight, refined, and elegant smile. "Niannian, take this first, just consider it some pocket money from your second uncle. Your grandfather is right—this is too meager for a meeting gift!"

A five-million-yuan Citibank Gold Card was indeed too meager.

Qiao Nian found herself wanting to learn even more about the backgrounds of this group of relatives!

Unable to argue with everyone, she accepted the bank card and said, "Thank you, second uncle."

Hearing this, Jiang Li said sourly from the side, "Tsk, I really want to hear Niannian call me 'second brother' too."

His father was so good to Qiao Nian that even he, the biological son, felt a bit jealous.

But it couldn't be helped. His uncle only had one daughter, and she had been missing for so many years. Besides, his father had mentioned to him before that it seemed the entire Jiang family owed a debt of gratitude to Niannian's mother; the Jiang family's current success was largely due to his aunt who had passed away early.

Although he didn't know what had happened back then, since the adults felt this way, the right thing to do was to be good to his sister!

Having figured this out, Jiang Li nonchalantly draped an arm over Qiao Nian's shoulder, standing in a slouching manner. He said to Elder Mr. Jiang and the others, "Grandpa, Dad, you guys go ahead. I'll take care of Niannian. I'll call you if anything happens."
