I might be a fake Ultraman.
Chapter 3: The Herald (First Update)
Looking at the handheld console, Baili Yuan recovered quickly from his initial shock and began to analyze the situation.
Having been immersed in the Land of Light for over two thousand years, Baili Yuan was still able to maintain basic composure when encountering problems.
A handheld console was not a rare item, nor did it possess any special abilities, but it was an electronic product—a product of technology. Therefore, it could be obtained from a Bronze Egg.
The items obtained from Black Iron Eggs were quite varied, but most were of little value, such as a bottle of water.
Logically, the rarer the egg, the more dangerous its location, and the items obtained should absolutely correspond to its value. While the system could refresh eggs, it did not have the ability to change the rewards inside them. That meant—it wasn't the system, that pit-digging fraud, playing tricks; it was this handheld console itself that had a problem!
Baili Yuan picked up the console, and the remaining eggshell dissipated into points of light.
Baili Yuan was already used to these special effects.
For some reason, the Egg System had an excessive amount of special effects; they were always inexplicably exquisite in random places, yet completely useless.
"Nintendu..."
Three large characters were engraved on the shell of the console.
Baili Yuan felt this was the worst roasting Nintendo had ever received.
Baili Yuan knew about the Pokémon games produced by Nintendo; he had seen them in his first life, watched the anime, though not much of it, and hadn't played the handheld games either. He wasn't a die-hard fan, but fortunately, he knew some of the basic settings.
Having grown accustomed to the high technology of the Land of Light, a mere handheld console posed no difficulty for Baili Yuan.
Of course, he didn't take it apart to look at the structure; instead, he turned the console on to see what features it had.
"Hmm, solar-powered." This was judged based on its appearance.
Opening the game interface, he saw various versions of the game.
"It's even a touchscreen?"
Suddenly, a flash of surprise crossed Baili Yuan's eyes.
"'Pokémon Re-enactment'? This isn't produced by Nintendo, is it?"
Baili Yuan had played *Pokémon Re-enactment* before. It was a domestic game; if you didn't want to grind with time and wanted good pets, you had to pay-to-win. It was a very realistic game.
Baili Yuan continued to look down, and sure enough, there were quite a few other Pokémon games not produced by Nintendo, such as *Go, Pikachu* and *Pokémon GO*. However, there were no cracked or modified versions.
"What's going on?"
"The description only said, 'contains various versions of Pokémon games,' it didn't say they had to be produced by Nintendo." The system popped out to show off its grasp of language.
Baili Yuan: "Sit down."
System: "Yes!"
After hesitating for a while, Baili Yuan finally chose *Pokémon Re-enactment*. After all, it was the only version he had played, so he was more familiar with it and it would be easier to get started.
He didn't know the principle behind it, but despite it being an online game, it could be played directly on the handheld console.
"Welcome to the Pokémon world, I am Professor Oak..."
It was the familiar opening animation and introduction.
He entered his name and created a character. Playing by himself, it was obviously impossible to create one of those "trap" characters.
Then he entered the starter Pokémon selection. After thinking about it, Baili Yuan chose Bulbasaur, which had the best compatibility with him.
Why? Because both Baili Yuan and Bulbasaur could survive just by basking in the sun!
After confirming Bulbasaur, something unexpected happened to Baili Yuan.
A black hole appeared on the handheld console, and then a Poké Ball fell out of it.
Baili Yuan reflexively caught the Poké Ball in his hand.
"Eh?"
"This is..." Baili Yuan stared blankly at the Poké Ball in his hand and the "You have obtained Bulbasaur" message displayed on the console.
"It wouldn't be... Bulbasaur, would it?" Baili Yuan twitched the corner of his mouth.
"Why not try it and see?" The system's voice rang out.
Baili Yuan nodded and threw the Poké Ball. A beam of white light shot out, and then a green figure about as tall as Baili Yuan appeared before him.
"It really is Bulbasaur?!!" Baili Yuan exclaimed.
"Bulba, bulba?" Bulbasaur looked around in confusion. When it saw Baili Yuan, it excitedly pounced on him. Baili Yuan, who was about the same height as Bulbasaur, was pinned underneath. Bulbasaur wasn't light, weighing over ten pounds, but fortunately, Baili Yuan's body was strong enough.
Lick, lick, lick...
Feeling the wetness on his face, Baili Yuan wiped his face.
"I think I probably know what's going on with this handheld console," Baili Yuan said.
...
"The captured Pokémon will appear in the real world simultaneously, while the data still exists in the game. At the same time, whether it's a Pokémon composed of programs in the console or a Pokémon in the real world, if one side improves, the other grows as well. As expected of a Diamond Egg, to think it could produce something like this." Leaning against Bulbasaur, Baili Yuan studied the handheld console in his hand.
At this moment, Bulbasaur was lying comfortably on the ground, basking in the sun, looking lazy.
After passing the tutorial, Baili Yuan obtained two more Pokémon—Poliwag and Oddish.
And they did indeed appear before Baili Yuan.
The data detected by the system showed that Bulbasaur's height was 0.7 meters, which was indeed the same height as Baili Yuan now. Being five years old is tough.
Besides that, the other versions of the games in the console had disappeared, leaving only *Re-enactment*.
As for some of the functions in *Re-enactment*, Baili Yuan hadn't had the chance to experiment with them due to level and condition restrictions, so he couldn't judge if they worked, such as pay-to-win!
Baili Yuan put the console back into the system storage, patted his clothes, and stood up.
"Come back, Bulbasaur."
"Bulba, bulba." Bulbasaur turned into a beam of light and flew onto the back of Baili Yuan's left hand.
On the back of Baili Yuan's hand was a diamond-shaped emblem with the shape of a book inside.
As mentioned before, this world was not a world of mortals; that was because humans in this world could awaken to become a profession known as "Emblem Users."
In five days, Baili Yuan had also gathered some information about Emblem Users. After all, the mainstream power in this world was the Emblem Users, so basic information wasn't hard to find.
People in this world would awaken a professional emblem between the ages of seven and ten. Different professions had different emblem designs, and the power obtained was also different.
The emblem on Baili Yuan's hand was only discovered after he obtained Bulbasaur; he didn't know when it had quietly appeared on the back of his left hand. His profession was Summoner.
After awakening the emblem, Bulbasaur, Poliwag, and Oddish moved into the emblem. Inside the emblem, the Pokémon would be in a dormant state, reducing consumption to a minimum.
Through this incident, Baili Yuan could determine that the awakening of an Emblem User was not due to bloodline inheritance, but the power of the rules!
As long as one was in this world and met the prerequisites for awakening an emblem, they would awaken their own professional emblem according to the situation!
However, even knowing this, without a method of cultivation, one's strength would not improve.
Baili Yuan felt that in a situation where he couldn't transform, becoming an Emblem User was indeed a pretty good choice!
At least this way, he could have some security in this world.
After all, this was not a world of mortals!
Moreover, becoming an Emblem User could save a lot of trouble; it was said that one could even apply for poverty relief and receive financial subsidies.
Now, Baili Yuan was going to a place where he could obtain cultivation methods and become stronger—the Emblem Academy!
That's right, it was that academy from earlier.
Baili Yuan hadn't run very far; he was still quite close to the Emblem Academy.
Joining the Emblem Academy would definitely allow him to receive a systematic education as an Emblem User.
As for the identity issue, he looked so cute, he should be able to get by on his looks.
"Sigh, clearly so strong, yet I have to rely on my looks to get by. What a sin."
However, there were always things that were unexpected.
Bang!
A huge jet of water suddenly erupted from the ground in front of Baili Yuan, splashing directly onto his face.
"Pfft—Damn it, who the hell blew up the sewer?!"
