I might be a fake Ultraman.
Chapter 16: Smashing Eggs (First Update)
Five Iron Eggs, two Bronze Eggs, two Silver Eggs, and one Funny Egg.
This was Baili Yuan's harvest within the Emblem Academy. It had to be said that the Emblem Academy was indeed a "treasure trove"; this haul far exceeded what he had gathered in five days on the outside.
Baili Yuan set the Iron and Bronze eggs aside for the time being; they weren't going to yield anything good anyway.
Baili Yuan first took out the two Silver Eggs.
This was his first time opening a Silver Egg, and he wondered what kind of valuable items they could contain.
"Great God Noah, grant me strength!"
Baili Yuan shouted loudly, raising his egg-smashing hammer high and slamming it down onto a Silver Egg.
*Bang!*
It was the same familiar, flashy special effect, though noticeably less intense than that of a Diamond Egg.
Once the effects subsided, Baili Yuan peered into the eggshell.
A pair of yellow, cartoonish flip-flops lay there quietly.
"What the hell?" Baili Yuan stared at the flip-flops with a face full of black lines. He picked them up; they featured a pattern of Shin-chan with his butt exposed.
"You give me a pair of flip-flops for a Silver Egg?"
Then, Baili Yuan picked up the slip of paper that had fallen out of the egg.
The paper found inside an egg contained a description of the item.
Baili Yuan began reading the text.
"Agent Disguise Flip-Flops: High-tech equipment featuring navigation, hidden cameras, recording functions, etc. When necessary, they can be thrown as disposable bombs with considerable power, equivalent to a fragmentation grenade. Shockproof, waterproof, and generates electricity when stepped on. Note: High-tech flip-flops—every agent who has used them says they're great! "Congratulations, Brother Baili Yuan, on acquiring your flip-flops!" the system's voice rang out.
"Get lost!"
Having grown accustomed to the high technology of the Land of Light, Baili Yuan looked at the flip-flops with an unperturbed heart.
He wasn't an agent; aside from the explosive capability, these flip-flops weren't particularly helpful to him.
Furthermore, these were an adult size; he couldn't even fit into them!
Baili Yuan placed the flip-flops into his system space and reached for the second Silver Egg.
"Ultraman Reiga, bless me!"
*Bang!*
After the effects ended, Baili Yuan looked inside the Silver Egg.
Something resembling a flashlight lay there.
"Jedi Lightsaber (Enhanced Version): A high-tech item, a weapon used by Jedi. Created to compensate for the inability of standard lightsabers to strike distant enemies, the length can be freely adjusted within a range of 0.1 meters to 40 meters. Note: 'I have a forty-meter lightsaber; I allow you to run thirty-nine meters first.' —A certain Jedi named Yu."
A Jedi named Yu?
Baili Yuan's face darkened. Yoda, it's you, isn't it? It has to be you!
Baili Yuan picked up the lightsaber and began to examine it. The weight was moderate; there was a length adjuster on one side, a switch on the other, and underneath...
"Holy crap, I'm finding out for the first time that lightsabers need to be charged!" Baili Yuan was shocked because a charging plug, just like a flashlight's, could be pulled out from the bottom of the lightsaber handle!
Suppressing the excitement of "feeling like he had discovered a major news story," Baili Yuan adjusted the lightsaber's length to half a meter and flipped the switch.
*Hummm—*
The characteristic hum of a lightsaber sounded, and a blue blade emerged.
Baili Yuan swung it a couple of times; the quality of the lightsaber did not feel heavy.
Baili Yuan wanted to test its power, but after looking around, he ultimately put the lightsaber away.
This was Andy's territory; if he broke something, Andy might tie him up again tomorrow.
He couldn't win in a fight, and he couldn't escape; he could only be a "good boy" to save his own face.
Once he could transform, he would definitely... wait, even after transforming, with his juvenile body and no light skills, could he really beat Andy?
Baili Yuan fell into deep thought, then felt a pang of frustration.
The scene of that giant turtle charging out from underground and getting mobbed was still vivid in his mind.
"Forget it, let's just open the eggs." With that, Baili Yuan pulled out the Funny Egg.
"Saga, bless me!"
He wondered if Celebro was actually powerful enough to merge with Dyna and Cosmos to become Saga. If they hadn't merged, could Saga still bless him?
With a complicated mood, Baili Yuan brought the egg-smashing hammer down.
*Bang!*
Well, the special effect was different this time—it was magnificent, clearly made with more care than the ordinary eggs.
Baili Yuan looked at the item in the menu; it was a deck of cards?
He looked at the explanatory note.
"Gwent Cards: A special item that can force an opponent to play Gwent with you. Both parties will temporarily comprehend the rules of the game. The winner can obtain one ability or one item from the loser. Note: What? You got cheated on? How about a round of Gwent?"
Baili Yuan looked at the cards in his hand. He didn't know how to play Gwent; he had only heard of it during his first life.
He remembered it being from a game... was it called *The Witcher 3: Crazy Gambling*??? No, that wasn't the name, it was something else... forget it, he couldn't remember.
The ability of these Gwent cards made Baili Yuan narrow his eyes. If he won, he could get an item or an ability from the opponent; conversely, if he lost, he would lose an item or an ability. This was a bidirectional, uncontrollable ability. Since he had never played Gwent and was certainly not a master card player, he had to use these cards with extreme caution.
Baili Yuan put the Gwent cards away.
Out of the three items, he was relatively satisfied with the lightsaber and the Gwent cards. As for the high-tech flip-flops, Baili Yuan had decided to treat them as a rather peculiar fragmentation grenade.
Then, Baili Yuan took out the two Bronze Eggs and the five Iron Eggs.
He didn't bother shouting for blessings this time; after all, even if the old man from Tsuburaya himself looked down upon him, it was impossible to get anything of value from a Bronze Egg.
He would just open them casually, without expectation.
First, the five Iron Eggs—a scrap of cloth, a piece of iron, a fishbone, a piece of glass, and a sheet of paper.
Heh, as expected.
After putting these things away to find a place to dispose of them later, Baili Yuan continued with the two Bronze Eggs.
A pack of cigarettes.
Baili Yuan nodded in satisfaction. The previous two Bronze Eggs had yielded cigarettes and clothes, so this was normal.
Then came the second Bronze Egg. What came out was a... holy crap, what is this?
The item from the second Bronze Egg left Baili Yuan stunned.
A flowerpot, and growing in the pot was a plant with a green stem and two large leaves. Where the flower should have been, there was actually a fat goldfish the size of a soccer ball? What on earth was this?
Baili Yuan hurriedly picked up the note and read it.
"Hell-Quality Goldfish Grass: Unclear whether it is a biological organism or a plant. It is bursting with vitality and has distinct genders. Legend has it that it was first discovered by the banks of the Sanzu River and was transplanted and cultivated by the first assistant to King Enma, becoming a premium variety and an ornamental pet. The goldfish on it can be eaten like fish meat or juiced like fruit. Note: Cultivate it well; hopefully, it can achieve a high ranking in this year's Goldfish Grass Competition."
Baili Yuan looked at the Goldfish Grass. The plant stared back at him with a pair of fish eyes. Suddenly, the Goldfish Grass opened its mouth wide, shook violently, and then...
"Oga~~~~~~~~ Oga~~~~~~~~"
