Farming and Becoming a God in Another World

Chapter 14: Echoes of the Legendary Warrior's Soul

Gavin guessed correctly.

Zalanda, having retreated from the battlefield, was even busier, with a mountain of tasks waiting for her to handle.

Casualties needed to be tallied, the wounded needed medical attention, the battlefield needed clearing, and the caravan needed preparation.

By the time she managed to carve out some time, Gavin was nowhere to be found in the world, and as soon as she turned around, she was once again snagged by other people and other matters.

At this moment, Gavin had burrowed back into his own room in Fort Notte to begin his career planning.

At first glance, his career path seemed quite clear: retrace the path of the Fighter, which was his most familiar domain.

However, compared to what Gavin intended to do in the future, the Fighter path was not the best choice.

Because a Fighter only focuses on a single method of strengthening oneself to influence others: combat, combat, and more combat.

But what he intended to do in the future was to prevent a War of the Gods and the Fall of the Gods.

In a war of that magnitude, even the most top-tier Legendary Fighter is merely cannon fodder. There is only one way to intervene in a war of the gods: make oneself a god.

Mortals ascending to godhood was not without precedent in Toril. Last year, there were as many as four well-known individuals who were promoted directly from mortals to deities. The Midnight, the Goddess of Magic, whom Gavin had traveled back in time to prevent from falling, was one of them.

But their situations were too unique; they had completely leveraged the moment when the gods were cast down to the mortal realm to rise, making their cases impossible to replicate.

The best method Gavin could think of was to possess the ability to influence more people. In this regard, a Wizard clearly held the advantage.

In fact, following the Fighter path in his previous life had been a matter of necessity. If he had been given the choice, he would have prioritized being a Wizard.

However, a Wizard is a profession that consumes vast amounts of scholarly resources. In both his past and present lives, he had never undergone systematic study. Relying solely on the magical knowledge he gathered through daily observation, he might not be able to initiate this profession right away. He would need specialized advanced training before he could walk this path, which he estimated would be several levels down the line.

As he pondered, Gavin focused his mind, allowing his consciousness to reach a high state of concentration. Powerful magical fluctuations appeared once again, rising and falling with his breath. The two sides slowly approached each other until they finally entered the same frequency—the Weave Synchronization was complete.

A completely different world unfolded before Gavin's eyes.

A world composed of countless profound runes and numbers. Everything before him could be runicized and digitized, including Gavin's own body.

The magic power currently surging into his body was doing exactly that.

However, the familiar career options did not appear before Gavin immediately.

Instead, there was a teardrop-shaped object emitting a pure, bright moonlight. In the center of the teardrop, a lifelike, translucent miniature figure floated.

Gavin was all too familiar with the translucent miniature; it was himself.

The Tear of Selûne?!

Gavin recognized the identity of the teardrop at a glance; it was precisely the key item for his transmigration plan in his previous life.

It had merely transformed from a physical object into a virtual one and appeared within his sea of consciousness.

A divine artifact was indeed a divine artifact; despite all the previous turmoil, it had somehow not been completely destroyed.

As Gavin focused his gaze on the translucent miniature, a string of profound runic descriptions surfaced. He did not recognize a single one of these runes, but it did not prevent him from understanding their meaning.

*Soul of the Legendary Fighter: An excessively powerful soul will place a heavy burden on a fragile physical body, causing irreversible damage. A portion of your soul is temporarily sealed within the Tear of Selûne; it will be gradually released in the form of echoes as your class level increases, eventually merging with your body.*

*Echo of the Soul of the Legendary Fighter: Regardless of the class you choose, all Fighter skills are treated as your class skills. You are considered proficient with all Fighter weapons and armor. Your first Hit Die will be calculated as a Fighter, and you will gain the additional feats corresponding to that Fighter level.*

Holy crap! Holy crap!! Holy crap!!!

Even after living four lifetimes, Gavin could not remain calm at this moment.

He never would have imagined that such a massive "Easter egg" was hidden within his sea of consciousness.

With the *Echo of the Soul of the Legendary Fighter* present, he would be a complete idiot if he chose the Fighter class again.

The Fighter class consisted of three main parts: combat techniques, a large number of additional feats, and significant intrinsic attribute enhancements.

The *Echo of the Soul of the Legendary Fighter* solved two of these for him. The last one, intrinsic attribute enhancement, could be compensated for through many other methods, such as *Wish* spells, magical equipment, divine blessings, and so on. Even maintaining high-intensity training would improve them before stepping into the superhuman realm, albeit very slowly.

The true path to power lay in the advantages brought by combining other classes for synergistic enhancement.

In an instant, seven or eight new choices and new tactics surfaced in Gavin's mind. A combination of melee and ranged magic was the ultimate way to go.

"By the Goddess Tymora, I hope your favor remains. Let me see what classes are available."

Gavin offered a silent prayer, further condensing his consciousness, and more data and information flooded in.

Fighter.

Ranked first, without question.

Rogue.

The second choice; he had multiclassed into this for a few levels in his previous life.

Wizard.

Huh, he hadn't expected that even without systematic study, the Weave would recognize his ability to multiclass as a Wizard.

Psion.

Seeing the option below, Gavin was even more excited than when he saw the Wizard option. The reason was simple: anything involving Psions was generally something one could only hope to encounter, as it was often tied to bloodline inheritance.

It was innate; you either had it or you didn't. At least in his previous life, almost all the Psions Gavin encountered were born with it.

As for someone like him, whose abilities were excavated later in life, he couldn't say he was unique, but he certainly wasn't common.

Psionic abilities were not common in Faerûn, but they weren't incredibly rare either; they were often synonymous with power, with the most typical representatives being Mind Flayers and Aboleths.

Gavin had just tasted the sweetness of psionic power; a single *Mind Blast* had directly floored a Giant Worg with a Challenge Rating of no less than five—it had only stunned it for a few seconds, not killed it.

This kind of ability was invisible and intangible, a perfect tool for underhanded tactics. If paired with his natural advantage in melee combat, the tricks he could play would be far more numerous.

Most importantly, Gavin had heard of a special prestige class in his previous life—the Aeromancer—which could simultaneously increase the spellcasting levels of both Wizards and Psions.

The combination of spiritual and magical arts, paired with his melee capabilities, looked like a perfect composition no matter how one viewed it.

"It's you!" Gavin quickly made his choice, concentrating his will on the Psion option.

All other information slowly faded away, leaving only the Psion information, which became increasingly clear before transforming into a torrent of magical energy, surging into Gavin's consciousness to perform a synchronization and adjustment of his soul.

Gavin calmed his breathing and carefully felt the magic flowing through his consciousness, absorbing every piece of information it brought. Next, he would face a series of decisions—decisions that would determine his future path.
