Farming and Becoming a God in Another World

Chapter 15: The Most Troublesome Part is Choosing What to Get

Like wizards, Psions are also divided into several major specialization schools.

There are six fundamental energy schools: Psionic Divination, Psionic Creation, Psionic Transmutation, Psionic Self-Shaping, Psionic Teleportation, and Psionic Enchantment.

The choice of specialization is, to put it mildly, extremely important, especially during the early stages of the profession.

This is because the energy school chosen through class levels will enter into a deeper level of synchronization with the Weave.

The Weave itself is a massive information network; during the process of synchronization, it will pour all the fundamental knowledge and basic skills belonging to the specialized profession directly into the synchronizer.

It can take someone who was originally completely ignorant of the subject and, within a few short months, turn them into a leader in the field—though compared to ordinary people, they would still merely be a novice compared to high-end professionals in the same industry.

This is especially crucial for a profession like the Psion, which focuses on excavating one's own potential, because unlike wizards, they do not have vast channels to acquire knowledge from the outside world.

In the realm of Psions, Gavin was an absolute layman, so he was naturally more cautious when making his choice.

To say it wasn't important would be a lie, but that is because the information provided by the Weave is only the most basic. To reach the true pinnacle of this profession, one still requires extensive external study, particularly regarding unique spells—and Psions are no exception.

As Gavin concentrated his thoughts, the introductory information regarding the six fundamental energy schools surged through his mind.

The specialist of the Psionic Divination school is known as the Seer, leaning toward discovering prophetic abilities or collecting intelligence through various means. Gavin ignored this immediately; having been reborn, he possessed a foresight that even the gods could not match. Choosing the Divination school would be a waste. Furthermore, divination spells weren't that magical; merely gaining a few fragments of information ahead of time wasn't necessarily accurate and could even backfire. He hadn't been interested in it in his previous life because he had been tripped up by divination spells more than once.

The specialist of the Psionic Creation school is known as the Shaper, skilled at extracting astral matter or other substances from the Astral Plane to create semi-solid or solid objects. They can create weapons, armor, or even animate constructs. This leans toward summoning methods, which was also not something Gavin desired. Faerûn did not lack golems or constructs, many of which could be bought and sold; there was no need to waste a class choice on this.

The specialist of the Psionic Transmutation school is known as the Manipulator, which is essentially the Evocation school for wizards. They excel at the conversion of various energies and matters, using the most violent magical attacks. This choice sounded good—on the battlefield, they would be like a human cannon, blasting everything in their path. However, the problem was that if one was already playing with psionic powers, circling back to the old path of a wizard seemed a bit beneath the dignity of the class.

The specialist of the Psionic Self-Shaping school is known as the Shifter. They can manipulate their own metabolism or that of nearby creatures to achieve healing, while also being able to transform into powerful warriors. When Gavin saw this option, his eyes lit up. This sounded very suitable for him; self-healing and shapeshifting/disguise were both extremely practical and very useful for his subsequent plans.

The specialist of the Psionic Teleportation school is known as the Planar Traveler. As the name implies, they are masters of planar teleportation, capable of freely entering and exiting planes such as the Ether, the Shadowfell, and the Astral Plane. The problem was that these powerful abilities usually came later, at least when one could cast fifth or sixth-level abilities; they weren't of great help in the early stages, and spells could achieve similar ends.

The specialist of the Psionic Enchantment school is known as the Telepath. This is the quintessential school for psionic magic. Whenever psionic power is mentioned, the first thing one thinks of is controlling others and destroying their will. The "Psionic Blast" Gavin had created himself likely leaned toward this school, making it a series that also quite moved him.

Gavin hesitated slightly between the Self-Shaping and Teleportation schools, ultimately choosing the former. Compared to the mid-to-late game, he chose the profession that would provide more help in the early stages.

For a professional in Faerûn, the further one goes, the wider the path becomes and the more choices one has. Even if one's own abilities are insufficient, one can use various powerful magical items or even artifacts to strengthen oneself.

Conversely, the early stages, especially before level ten, are the most difficult.

One should not assume that just because Gavin could fight side-by-side with Zaranda and charge into the goblin army as if it were an empty field, he could walk through Faerûn with impunity.

If one held such a thought, death would not be far off.

To put it this way: whether they are goblins or hobgoblins, they still fall within the category of normal creatures.

Once one faces those abnormal monsters possessing strange spell-like abilities, racial traits, or innate talents, one will realize just how dangerous this world truly is. High-end professionals falling victim to monsters weaker than themselves was a common occurrence.

As Gavin made his choice, a massive surge of mana poured from the Weave once again. This time, it was no longer a simple physical restructuring, but a massive stream of knowledge flowing directly into his mind, carrying a vast amount of Psion knowledge.

Methods for cultivating and using basic abilities.

How to improve one's concentration.

How to perform self-hypnosis to deeply excavate one's psionic potential.

How to weave one's own soul and consciousness to form Psionic Points for the convenient casting of psionic abilities.

How to use psionic abilities for medical purposes.

How to use psionic energy to control one's own body.

How to discern spiritual consciousness.

Basic knowledge points regarding psionics.

The series of knowledge caused Gavin's head to throb.

No wonder people said that spellcasting professions were the hardest to walk. This was built upon massive amounts of learning. Even with the convenient knowledge inheritance of the Weave, without a year or so, one could not hope to fully digest and utilize such a vast amount of information.

Gavin could only focus on learning the most useful priorities for the time being.

The first thing Gavin began to learn was not how to excavate or cultivate abilities, nor how to weave his soul and consciousness to obtain Psionic Points, but rather how to perform self-hypnosis.

Because he was still thinking about leaving Zaranda an unforgettable gift before he departed.

After much thought, the "Seven Military Classics" seemed most appropriate.

If self-hypnosis remained ineffective, Gavin would have to temporarily abandon this plan and wait to integrate and compile it himself through memory later.

There were no hypnosis pendulums, no counting sheep, and no self-relaxation techniques.

The method of self-hypnosis obtained from the Weave was to highly concentrate one's consciousness and repeatedly recall a certain event.

This was actually similar to the method he had previously used to try and increase his chances of dreaming.

However, this time, Gavin clearly felt it was different. His will and the surrounding Weave began to vibrate. As the frequency of the vibration approached, the thing Gavin was recalling became clearer and clearer, until finally, it was as vivid as if it had happened just yesterday.

And this was only the beginning. Soon, Gavin was pulled into the day, the moment, and the very second of his memory, possessing a miraculous third-person perspective. Not only could he see the information in the books he was focusing on at the time, but even the surrounding details he had previously ignored were vividly apparent.

How was this self-hypnosis?

This was damn well "Scene Reconstruction"!
