Beast Taming from Zero

Chapter 6: Fire-Fang Hound

Soon, the Fire Tooth Dog disappeared under the light of the star array.

A blank page in the Beast Taming Codex within Qiao Sang’s brain region suddenly lit up, and a lifelike Fire Tooth Dog appeared upon it.

At the same time, on the blank space of the Beast Taming Codex

【Name: Fire Tooth Dog】

【Attribute: Fire】

【Level: Primary (63/1000) +】

【Skills: Bite (Entry 73/100) +, Slam (Proficient 133/500) +, Fire Tooth (Entry 1/100) +】

【Points: 0】

A few simple and easy-to-understand lines of text appeared clearly before Qiao Sang.

Qiao Sang was stunned.

Did the Beast Taming Codex have descriptions for these things?

It didn't, right?

She remembered that the Beast Taming Codex only had two functions: contracting and serving as a space for pet beasts; there was absolutely no such system-like feature.

But Qiao Sang wasn't entirely certain of her own memory, as the original owner was, after all, a poor student with too many blind spots in her knowledge.

However... this was probably, maybe, perhaps, truly a golden finger!

Everything would have to wait until she left this place to be verified.

Qiao Sang suppressed her excitement and performed the summoning seal.

The next second, a white star array appeared on the ground, starlight gathered around it, and the excited-looking Fire Tooth Dog appeared.

"Ya!"

The Fire Tooth Dog barked at Qiao Sang.

Because of the contract, Qiao Sang easily understood what her pet beast meant.

It wanted to try going back into the Beast Taming Codex again.

Qiao Sang smiled dotingly and performed the seal to recall the Fire Tooth Dog.

As soon as it went in, the Fire Tooth Dog started barking inside the Codex, wanting to come out.

Qiao Sang didn't refuse. As soon as the Fire Tooth Dog came out, it happily wagged its red tail.

"Ya!"

Qiao Sang smiled and recalled it.

The next moment, she let it out again.

The Fire Tooth Dog blinked its black eyes.

"Ya!"

Qiao Sang’s smile stiffened slightly. She paused, but still recalled it into the Beast Taming Codex.

When the Fire Tooth Dog came out, its eyes were full of anticipation as it looked at Qiao Sang.

"Ya!"

It wanted to play more!

Qiao Sang: "..."

When Ye Xiangting returned, what she saw was her daughter making seals with a numb expression on her face, recalling the Fire Tooth Dog one moment and letting it out the next.

Ye Xiangting asked suspiciously, "Sang Sang, what are you doing?"

Qiao Sang said expressionlessly, "I'm playing."

...

...

Qiao Sang didn't go straight home after leaving the Hanggang Pet Beast Base; instead, she went to the Hanggang Beast Taming Center.

According to Alliance regulations, all pet beasts contracted by beast tamers must be registered at the Beast Taming Center within seven working days.

In this era, you couldn't just contract a pet beast and bring it home to raise with peace of mind. First, you had to register the pet beast, otherwise, it would be considered an unregistered resident.

Wild extraordinary creatures are prohibited from entering human cities. If you don't register them and get caught, they will be taken away by the patrol department as wild extraordinary creatures.

It is not strange for wild extraordinary creatures to attack humans; on the contrary, news reports about humans being attacked by extraordinary creatures appear every few days.

To ensure the safety of humans, especially ordinary people whose brain regions have not awakened, the Alliance prohibits the presence of wild extraordinary creatures within cities.

However, extraordinary creatures vary in species, and all of them possess mysterious extraordinary powers. Beast-type extraordinary creatures are easier to deal with as they are easily discovered.

But elf-type or ghost-type extraordinary creatures are hard to spot once they hide.

Therefore, the Alliance established a patrol department specifically to resolve such matters.

From the Hanggang Pet Beast Base to home, taking a turn led to the Hanggang Beast Taming Center, so it was considered on the way.

At that turn, her mother had ridden off on her Faith Crane, saying she had something to do, leaving the Fat House Pigeon for Qiao Sang to use for transport.

It was 11:32 AM when Qiao Sang arrived at the Hanggang Beast Taming Center, only 28 minutes before the center closed for the day.

This type of information registration didn't have only one window like the brain region test; there were 16 windows available for registration.

Qiao Sang took a number and found a seat.

The Fat House Pigeon stood quietly by her side, guarding her, while the Fire Tooth Dog was held in her arms, its eyes darting around, clearly curious about the surrounding environment.

"Number 06556, please proceed to Window 12."

"Number 06556, please proceed to Window 12."

Qiao Sang looked down at the number in her hand: 06557. She checked the time: 11:52 AM.

It seemed she wouldn't be called before the morning break.

"Number 06557, please proceed to Window 12."

Number 06556 didn't seem to have come forward, so they called Qiao Sang's number directly.

Qiao Sang stood up abruptly, holding the Fire Tooth Dog. It seemed her luck was good today.

Arriving at Window 12, the receptionist was a young man with a buzz cut.

"Hello, how can I help you?"

Qiao Sang took her information card out of her pocket and handed it over. "I'm here to register a pet beast."

The young man with the buzz cut took the card and placed it on the scanner. After looking at it for a moment, he said, "Hello, it shows here that you are not yet a beast tamer, so I cannot register a pet beast for you."

Qiao Sang was stunned for a moment and said, "Then register me as a beast tamer first."

The young man said, "Please show your brain region certification."

This was Qiao Sang's first time registering as a beast tamer, and she didn't know she needed a brain region certification.

"I didn't bring it," Qiao Sang said helplessly.

Then she held up the Fire Tooth Dog in her hands. "Doesn't this prove that I'm a beast tamer?"

The young man silently glanced at the time on his computer: 11:58 AM. He replied, "No."

"Why?" Qiao Sang was puzzled.

"Are you done yet? If you don't have all your documents, hurry up and give up your spot," an impatient female voice came from behind her.

Qiao Sang turned her head and saw a girl wearing the uniform of Xiehe Beast Taming High School standing behind her.

The girl glanced at Qiao Sang. She had long, narrow, upturned eyes that made people uncomfortable when she looked down at them.

Seeing that Qiao Sang didn't speak, she stepped past Qiao Sang and handed her number slip to the clerk. "I'm number 06556, I'm ahead of her. Process mine first; I need to change some pet beast information."

Qiao Sang frowned and stood up, preparing to give up her spot. Although the girl's attitude was very annoying, her own documents were indeed incomplete.

The young man refused the girl, saying, "We require re-queuing if you miss your turn."

Then he returned the information card to Qiao Sang. "Beast tamers need to have their photos taken and be registered with proof."

It was exactly 12:00 PM. The young man turned the sign at the window and smiled. "We're off for lunch. You can come back in the afternoon." With that, he left his station.

Neither of them had managed to get their business done. Qiao Sang didn't mind; it was something she had only thought of doing because it was on the way.

But the girl in the high school uniform pulled a long face. "It's all your fault. If it weren't for you, I would have finished my business."

Qiao Sang stood up to leave.

A hand blocked her. "Hey, didn't you hear me talking to you?"

Qiao Sang looked confused. She looked around and asked, "Are you talking to me?"

"Is there anyone else here?" The girl's upturned eyes widened.

Passerby A and Passerby B walked past them silently at that moment.
