Beast Taming from Zero

Chapter 7: Desert-Tail Fox

“Do you need something?” Qiao Sang had to stop and ask.

“If you hadn’t wasted so much time, I wouldn’t have made this trip for nothing today.” The girl complained.

Qiao Sang’s eyebrows furrowed slightly. “I recall that you weren’t there when your number was called.”

The girl got worked up. “If you hadn’t gone up so fast, I would have been the one to go next. Do you realize that if you had just sat down for two seconds, I would have gone!”

Qiao Sang was speechless.

Is there something wrong with this kid’s brain?

Qiao Sang bypassed her, intending to leave. Although she was 15 years old now, she was an adult on the inside, and the girl in front of her, wearing a high school uniform, was still just a child in her eyes.

Is there any point in winning an argument with a brat like this?

However, before she had taken two steps, the girl quickly walked in front of Qiao Sang to block her path and demanded, “Where are you going?”

Qiao Sang looked at her and said indifferently, “Are you looking for a fight?”

If a problem can be solved with action, there’s no need to use words.

There was no point in arguing with a brat, but giving her a beating was another matter.

“What?” This time, it was the girl’s turn to be stunned.

“If you want to fight, let’s go outside. If not, move aside.” Qiao Sang had phoenix eyes that tilted slightly upward; usually, they looked pleasant, but when she stared at someone without a hint of a smile, it was quite intimidating.

The girl froze for a few seconds, checked the school uniform Qiao Sang was wearing, glanced at the Fire Tooth Dog and the Fat Pigeon, and gritted her teeth. “Fine, let’s fight!”

The two arrived at an open space behind the Hangzhou Beast Taming Center. The area was neither large nor small, and a few people were scattered about training their pets.

Qiao Sang looked at the environment, feeling a bit surprised, and asked, “Is it okay to do it here? Shouldn’t we find a place with no one around?”

The girl’s lips curled into a sneer. “What? Are you scared?”

Qiao Sang raised an eyebrow. “I was just worried about you losing face. Since you want to do it here, then here it is.”

“Come on!” The girl stepped out with her right foot.

Seeing the girl take her stance, Qiao Sang set the Fire Tooth Dog down beside her.

Seeing this, the girl raised her hands. Before she could even finish forming a seal, she saw a leg sweeping horizontally toward her face. Reflexively, she hugged her head and crouched to the ground.

A gust of wind whistled over her head.

“What are you doing!” Xu Linglan broke out in a cold sweat.

She stood up and quickly retreated two steps, looking shaken. She couldn’t believe that this girl, who looked younger than her, had actually kicked her directly—and aimed for the head!

With that leg speed, if she had actually kicked her in the head, she would have gotten a concussion!

Too brutal!

Qiao Sang looked completely innocent. “Didn’t you say you wanted to fight?”

Who the hell meant *that* kind of fight!

Xu Linglan was speechless. She felt that the girl had done it on purpose, but she had no proof.

“Beast Tamers fight using their pets, of course! Have you ever seen a Beast Tamer fight with their own hands!” Xu Linglan shouted at Qiao Sang.

Qiao Sang paused for a moment and said, “I’m not a Beast Tamer yet.”

Xu Linglan: “…”

It was true; she had heard that earlier.

But that was just the official certification. You’ve already contracted a pet—you can’t just say you aren’t one!

Xu Linglan didn’t waste any more words and performed a seal. A white star array suddenly lit up on the ground, and a white figure appeared within it.

Looking at her own pet, Xu Linglan felt reassured. “I am a Beast Tamer, so naturally, I will fight the way a Beast Tamer does. Are you afraid to use your pet to fight me?”

The brutal girl opposite her was clearly a rookie Beast Tamer. The Fat Pigeon couldn’t be hers, so that Fire Tooth Dog, which looked like it hadn’t fully developed yet, must be the pet she contracted.

Her Desert Tail Fox had evolved from a White Sand Fox just yesterday.

What could this girl possibly use to fight her?

The Desert Tail Fox, the evolved form of the White Sand Fox, had an extremely gentle temperament. Unlike the White Sand Fox, which was known for its beautiful tail, the Desert Tail Fox’s tail was over two meters long—five times its body size—and was the source of its power.

Qiao Sang looked at the white transcendent creature with amber eyes. Information about it automatically surfaced in her mind; after all, she had just researched it yesterday.

The Desert Tail Fox in front of her was an intermediate pet, while the Fire Tooth Dog was less than a month old, and she had just contracted it without any training.

She couldn’t win.

Qiao Sang had already reached that conclusion.

Since the power gap was so wide, she wouldn’t let the Fire Tooth Dog go up and be beaten one-sidedly.

“Fat Pigeon, you go,” Qiao Sang turned her head and said to the Fat Pigeon, which had been staying quiet nearby.

“Jiu.”

The Fat Pigeon shook its wings and didn’t refuse, walking directly in front of the Desert Tail Fox.

Xu Linglan mocked, “That’s not your pet, is it?”

Qiao Sang nodded, not bothering to refute.

“Heh, fine, let it be the Fat Pigeon. I’ll win all the same.” Xu Linglan didn’t stop her.

The synergy with someone else’s pet was completely different from one you had raised yourself. Since both were intermediate pets, Xu Linglan didn’t think she would lose.

“Desert Tail Fox, Quicksand!” Xu Linglan decided to strike first and gave the order.

“Desert.”

The Desert Tail Fox looked up and let out a cry. Its two-meter-long tail swayed, gradually glowing with an earthy luster.

“Fat Pigeon, fly up.” Qiao Sang remained calm.

Just as the Fat Pigeon spread its wings to take off, a red figure zoomed past and slammed into the Desert Tail Fox, forcibly interrupting the Quicksand attack before it could be released.

The Fat Pigeon forgot to take off, a big question mark appearing over its chubby head.

Wasn’t it supposed to be its turn?

It’s the Fire Tooth Dog. Qiao Sang stared at the red figure in front of her, stunned for a moment.

“Ya!”

“Ya ya!”

The Fire Tooth Dog barked at Qiao Sang, sounding dissatisfied.

Qiao Sang clearly sensed the Fire Tooth Dog’s anger and grievance.

The Fire Tooth Dog was extremely unhappy!

Wasn’t it the one she contracted! Why let someone else fight!

Qiao Sang sensed the Fire Tooth Dog’s meaning, her throat tightening as she was about to speak.

“Despicable! You actually launched a sneak attack! And it’s 2-on-1!” Xu Linglan was so angry she started shouting.

Although her White Sand Fox had evolved into a Desert Tail Fox, her brain domain was only 7% developed. She was still a long way from the second awakening of the Beast Taming Codex and couldn’t contract a second pet.

The Desert Tail Fox was an intermediate pet, but so was the Fat Pigeon, and the Fat Pigeon was a Flying-type, which naturally countered the Desert Tail Fox.

And then there was the Fire Tooth Dog—it was a primary pet, sure, but it was Fire-type with high attack power. If it was 2-on-1, she would definitely be at a disadvantage!

Xu Linglan gritted her teeth as she looked at the girl younger than her.

This person wasn’t just brutal; she was despicable!

Qiao Sang stood frozen for two seconds, then suddenly felt enlightened.

2-on-1?

Why hadn’t she thought of that just now!

This was a fight, not a competition. Winning was all that mattered, and there were no rules.

Since the Fire Tooth Dog wanted to fight, she could also observe its level and verify some of her own theories.

Qiao Sang looked at the sulking creature in front of her and smiled. “Fire Tooth Dog, come here.”
