Chapter 5: Being Scammed at the Adoption Event

At the event site.

Jiang Shiyan immediately found a bottle of water and refilled the water bowl that the dog had accidentally knocked over.

Jiang Shiyan stopped and turned to the adopter, saying, "I'm sorry."

She then asked a colleague to help assist the adopter.

The adoption event was being held in an empty lot next to a shopping mall. It wasn't very large, but there were quite a few people. Jiang Shiyan searched around and finally locked onto a small dog curled up and shivering in a corner.

If she remembered correctly, this little dog was named Axu. He had been abandoned by his previous owner after his vocal cords were cut. While scavenging through trash in a garbage bin, he had been struck all over with a beer bottle by a passing drunkard, leaving him lying in a pool of blood. In the end, it was three high school students coming out of evening self-study who saw him and rushed him to the hospital.

Axu opened his mouth helplessly. Having had his vocal cords cut, he wasn't completely voiceless; a very hoarse and painful whimpering sound came from his throat.

In front of the cage, a chubby little boy was squatting. He was looking left and right sneakily, and after discovering that no one was paying attention to him, he actually pulled a small folding knife from his pocket and stabbed toward Axu inside the cage!

Jiang Shiyan ran up and pushed the little boy to the ground with one hand, shouting sternly, "What are you doing?!"

Chen Feng knelt down to check and found that there were indeed knife wounds on Axu's back, and there was more than one.

The evidence was right before their eyes, yet the fat woman stubbornly shouted, "Who said my son did it? Do you have proof? You put a bunch of beasts like this here and they bit my son, you have to pay compensation!"

These words instantly incited the wrath of the crowd.

There was already a sign standing there that read "Adoption Event," so the people attending were all animal lovers. Upon seeing a brat actually using a knife to harm a small animal, they simply could not tolerate it. They stepped forward one after another to cause trouble for her. In the scuffle, the child fell to the ground and was stepped on several times, crying loudly.

The scene was in total chaos.

Jiang Yiheng had originally been holding onto Jiang Shiyan, but Jiang Shiyan suddenly pushed him away and rushed into the crowd, taking advantage of the chaos to kick the fat woman several times.

Hearing this, the fat woman screamed hysterically in the police station, "Impossible! My son was clearly crying so miserably, he must have been bitten by a beast!"
