Chapter 11: Seeking Help

Upon arriving at the destination, he told the carriage driver to wait there, then stepped forward to state his purpose to the guards and waited outside.

It did not take long before the guard emerged: "Young Master Xiao, my Prince invites you in."

Having been clearly instructed by his sister yesterday, he remained relatively composed.

The guard led him directly to the exterior of Prince Jin's study in the front courtyard. After whispering a few words to the guards at the door, one of them stepped forward: "Reporting to the Prince, the young master of the Xiao family has arrived."

A deep, resonant voice came from within: "Let him in."

Xiao Chenrui was led inside. Not daring to look around, he saw a carved sandalwood desk placed in the room, with a wall of yellow rosewood bookshelves behind it, filled to the brim with books.

Xiao Chenrui stepped forward and bowed respectfully: "Greetings, Prince Jin."

Prince Jin, Mo Yuxuan, looked at Xiao Chenrui standing below: "Rise. Is there a matter that brings you to the Prince Jin's residence today?"

Xiao Chenrui took the letter from his robes: "This is a letter for help that my elder sister asked me to deliver. I humbly request the Prince to extend a helping hand."

An attendant at the side took the letter from Xiao Chenrui's hand and passed it over.

Prince Jin opened the unsealed letter and read it quickly. His expression darkened as he looked up at Xiao Chenrui: "Are you aware of the contents of this letter?"

Xiao Chenrui nodded: "My sister explained it to me yesterday. I hope the Prince will uphold justice for us siblings."

Thinking of Xiao Renjin, who had gone to save him that day, Prince Jin spoke: "I am aware of this matter now. I will send people to investigate. If the matter is true, I will naturally uphold justice for you. You may go."

Having obtained the result he wanted, Xiao Chenrui said, "Thank you, Your Highness."

Emerging from the Prince Jin's residence, the carriage was still waiting where he had left it. Xiao Chenrui quickly returned to the bookstore where his second cousin was. Seeing his cousin still there, chatting and laughing with the other young masters, he felt greatly relieved.

To avoid any trouble upon returning to the manor, he specifically used the silver he had on him to buy a book he needed. He sat in a secluded spot to read while waiting for his second cousin to call him to return home.

It was nearly noon before the people in the bookstore began to leave one after another.

Xiao Chenrui and his second cousin boarded the manor's carriage and returned together.

Naturally, they still entered the manor through the back gate.

Parting ways with his second cousin on the garden path, Xiao Chenrui first returned to his own courtyard. His servant, seeing the young master return, came up to greet him: "Young Master, you've returned?"

As Xiao Chenrui walked toward the study, he asked, "Has anything happened in the manor?"

The servant followed him into the study: "Reporting to the Young Master, no."

Xiao Chenrui put the book away: "Has anyone come to Song Courtyard?"

The servant shook his head: "No."

Only then did Xiao Chenrui breathe a sigh of relief: "Very well, you may go."

After the servant withdrew, he left the courtyard alone and headed toward Youzhu Courtyard.

The maid, Siqin, saw the Third Young Master approaching and bowed: "This servant greets the Third Young Master."

Xiao Chenrui asked softly, "Is my sister in the courtyard?"

Before Siqin could answer, Yunyi walked out from the room: "Ruige'er, come in."

Xiao Chenrui walked over quickly and said in a voice only the two siblings could hear: "Sister, the matter is settled."

A smile appeared on Yunyi's face. She waited until the maid had served tea and left before asking, "Did Prince Jin say anything?"

Xiao Chenrui recounted everything that happened after arriving at the Prince Jin's residence in detail: "Sister, will Prince Jin really help us?"

Yunyi nodded: "Rest assured. The whole capital is watching. Even if it isn't out of genuine sincerity, he will do it for the world to see. I believe it won't be long before someone from the Prince Jin's residence arrives."
