Chapter 14: The Rebels, Picking Up Two Little Wolf Cubs

This is because they share a common enemy—the Rebels and the army of ferocious beasts.

Strictly speaking, the ferocious beasts are products developed by the Rebels for the purpose of war. They are like monsters: devoid of reason, unafraid of death, and obedient only to the commands of the Rebels.

"The ferocious beasts that were secretly sent into the Tianyao Star Sanctuary have all been dealt with?"

Listening to the report from his subordinate, Valken frowned deeply, his expression displeased as he violently kicked a nearby chair.

"A bunch of useless trash! Hmph, Hoan is truly maintaining a strict defense."

SSS-class beastmen are the darlings of heaven, born with immense power. Their only weakness is that during their evolutionary period, once they transform into ferocious beasts, they fight alone and refuse human assistance, providing an opportunity for exploitation.

Completely unaware that she had been targeted by the Rebels, Liang He woke from her slumber to find that, unexpectedly, neither Cedric nor Landon were in the room.

Liang He checked the surveillance footage immediately. After watching, she felt both speechless and amused; an eagle and a tiger had actually cooperated to open the door and had slipped out early to hunt.

"Thankfully Cedric is thoughtful enough to remember to close the door for me, otherwise I probably would have woken up freezing."

With a light chuckle and a shake of her head, Liang He quickly washed up, ate a few bites of the buns she had made, and then took her flyer to patrol the surroundings, primarily to see if there was any food suitable for cooking.

Still not fully familiar with the interstellar geography, Liang He searched for ingredients by trial and error.

"Are these two wolf cubs that were just born?"

In case the wolf cubs' parents returned, she didn't want them to misunderstand that she was trying to steal their young. Sitting on a tree trunk, Liang He reached out to contact the veterinarian, Xu Yi.

Upon receiving the message, Xu Yi replied to Liang He immediately and began rushing toward her location.

Even in a Royal Animal Sanctuary, the natural ecological environment and food chain are respected. Unless it involves a beastman in their ferocious beast form, there is minimal intervention, though basic medical treatment is provided.

Upon receiving the reply, the assessment was consistent with Liang He's judgment.

Seeing that it was about to rain again, and realizing these two cubs had likely been frozen all night, Liang He didn't care about anything else. She jumped straight down from the tree, scooped up the two little ones, and ran toward her flyer.

Carrying the cubs back to the flyer, Liang He wiped their fur dry with clean towels and then found an old piece of clothing to serve as a temporary nest.

"I remember I should have prepared baby bottles and goat milk powder."

Liang He muttered to herself as she rummaged through the flyer, finally finding two bottles and a tin of goat milk powder at the very bottom.

Because animals are prone to lactose intolerance, she specifically prepared goat milk powder instead of cow's milk.

"Good thing I stick to a healthy lifestyle; I always carry hot water in my thermos."

The bottles had been sterilized beforehand, so Liang He only needed to perform simple preparations to use them.

She quickly prepared two bottles of goat milk and began feeding the cubs to prevent them from dying due to exhaustion.

The little ones had a strong will to live and were quite impressive; after a few gulps, they had finished all the milk in the bottles.

After feeding them, Liang He placed them back in their nest. Watching them huddle together for warmth, she smiled tenderly.

"Liang He, open the door!"

Surprised, Liang He opened the flyer's door. Seeing Hoan approach, she instinctively looked outside but saw no sign of Xu Yi.

"Xu Yi had something urgent come up and asked me to come find you."

Ignoring Liang He's curious gaze, Hoan looked at the two wolf cubs and pursed his lips slightly.

"I had someone check the surveillance. Their parents are not dead, but no trace of them can be found. Take them back to the service area to raise them for now."

Judging by the black and white coloring of the two cubs, they were likely the offspring of a Silver Moon Wolf and a Dark Night Wolf, making them a Class II protected species in the Federation.

"Okay."

The weather was gradually getting colder, and it wouldn't be right for Liang He to release them, as that would be no different from sending them to their deaths. She decided to take them back and raise them.

With Hoan's flyer parked nearby, they each took their own flyers and headed directly back to the Seventh Service Area.

"Brother Hoan, do we have underfloor heating here in the winter?"

Although winter hadn't arrived yet, Liang He was already preparing for the worst.

"Underfloor heating?"

Hoan shook his head, not quite understanding, but he grasped her general meaning.

"The service area has temperature control equipment. When it gets cold, the equipment is turned on, and the indoor temperature can be adjusted according to your requirements."

Because the sanctuary housed many protected animals in addition to beastmen, they required periods of captivity during medical treatment. Since different animals have different temperature requirements, every room could be adjusted individually.

Hearing this from Hoan, Liang He finally felt relieved; at least she wouldn't have to worry about the winter being too cold.

"Alright, then I'll head to the nursery first to settle these two little ones."

Having been frozen all night, they would likely need to stay in a temperature-controlled incubator for a few days.

After the meticulous and considerate Liang He had settled the two pitiful wolf cubs, she returned only to find a scene of a person confronting a tiger and an eagle.

Every trip out yields something new—she picked up two more wolf cubs. Perhaps in the future, she'll have the chance to open a "Cute Pet Kindergarten," haha!
