Chapter 10
“Teacher, it seems I’ve picked up a real gem this time! Unseen and unheard of…”
Colin stared at the miraculous sight before him, his eyes wide. He couldn't help but chuckle, his tone tinged with a hint of smugness, as if he were fishing for praise for discovering Lynn.
However, the beautiful teacher merely glanced at him indifferently, her lovely eyes showing little fluctuation.
She sighed softly, her tone carrying a faint weight
“More than a decade ago, I recruited many students, but in the end, not a single one survived. Within the Crucible, if one lacks sufficient combat power, it is difficult to survive. Especially these pure newcomers… they have just stepped into the world of wizards and haven't yet grasped the rules; not one of them has ever survived…”
Hearing this, Colin’s smile faltered, and the smug expression on his face gradually faded.
He smacked his lips and tentatively said
“Teacher, why must you dwell on pure newcomers? Even students with a background in dark wizardry aren't necessarily…”
Before he could finish, the beautiful teacher’s expression turned cold in an instant.
Even though she was usually soft-spoken and as gentle as a spring breeze, her blue-green eyes suddenly narrowed, her gaze falling upon Colin like an icy blade.
“Mother Nature is above,” she said, her voice low but carrying a pure majesty, “even if we are in the Crucible, we must maintain a pure heart. These pure newcomers, untainted by the Crucible, are the only ones worthy of being seeds of Mother Nature.”
Colin immediately realized he had spoken out of turn. Cold sweat broke out on his forehead, and he quickly lowered his voice
“Understood, Teacher. I was wrong.”
The beautiful teacher withdrew her gaze and refocused her attention on the seeds upon the disc.
Her expression softened, but her gaze became even more focused.
The number of life seeds on the disc was vast, each one brimming with vitality, yet these seeds were no ordinary objects.
They were extremely demanding in their resonance with a chosen individual; they would only respond if they sensed the potential for growth within the person.
It was no exaggeration when Colin mentioned that his teacher had “high standards.”
Even a student with exceptional talent would never be taken under her wing if they could not gain the recognition of the seeds.
Yet at this moment, every single seed on the disc was resonating with Lynn simultaneously!
“This…” The beautiful teacher’s eyes narrowed slightly, her gaze fixed on Lynn.
She knew that these seeds did not look merely at aptitude; more importantly, they sensed the possibility of growth that resonated with their own nature.
But for hundreds of life seeds to respond to the same person at once was an unprecedented phenomenon.
“Could this child be someone beloved by nature…”
She gently pursed her red lips, her beautiful eyes gazing at Lynn, who was tightly wrapped in a cocoon of flowers.
Regardless of the process, Lynn had successfully passed the beautiful teacher’s test.
The next moment, the beautiful flowers wrapped around Lynn slowly unfurled, like a shattered cocoon.
As the petals scattered, Lynn’s figure emerged. To him, this short period had felt like an incredibly sweet dream.
When those flowers left his body, he woke from his dream with a start. Opening his eyes, he saw Colin and his teacher watching him with smiles.
“Congratulations, Lynn. You have passed the teacher’s assessment.”
Colin said with a smile, his tone filled with pride and relief.
Lynn hadn't fully grasped everything that had just happened, but when his gaze fell upon the beautiful teacher’s hand, he noticed it had returned to the shape of a disc, adorned with glowing, seed-like objects.
As his heart stirred, a look of incredulous joy appeared on his face: “Did I really pass, Lord Colin?”
“If you don’t intend to refuse, then of course it’s real! But you don’t need to call me ‘Lord Colin’ anymore. Besides,”
Colin chuckled, reminding him in a relaxed tone, “the person you should be addressing is our teacher, right?”
Hearing this, a surge of irrepressible ecstasy truly welled up within Lynn.
He never imagined he would be able to apprentice under a true wizard.
Especially in his current environment—a man-eating Crucible—becoming the student of a real wizard was, naturally, like grabbing onto a thick, sturdy thigh!
He took a deep breath, a sincere smile on his face, and bowed respectfully
“Teacher!”
“Good child.”
The beautiful teacher offered a gentle smile, her lovely eyes filled with a hint of appreciation. “My name is Rosalind. You may address me as Teacher.”
Hearing this, Lynn was even more thrilled.
Rosalind was also quite satisfied with Lynn.
She was pleased with both his affinity for nature and his humility and manners.
With this, Lynn successfully became Rosalind’s student.
The exchange between teacher and student, along with the pleasantries with Colin, made the atmosphere gradually relaxed and harmonious.
Having become his teacher, Rosalind naturally had something to offer.
She plucked a badge from among the plants in the garden and handed it to Lynn.
The badge was crystalline, engraved with the images of various flowers, and emitted a faint glow.
Rosalind told Lynn that this was a magic item she had crafted herself, called the “Heart of Flower Language.”
She explained: “Magic items are objects crafted by formal wizards and imbued with special energy through enchantment. They can be activated with a small amount of mental power and a trigger incantation to unleash powerful spell effects.”
For a wizard’s apprentice, the importance of magic items went without saying.
Rosalind continued
“Wizard apprentices do not have the diverse means of formal wizards; many apprentices haven't even mastered a few complete spells. In such cases, magic items not only compensate for a lack of combat power but are also the key to increasing one’s survival rate.”
Lynn carefully took the badge, his eyes filled with gratitude.
For him right now, this magic item was undoubtedly a life-saving treasure.
After all, he still had an unknown enemy lurking in the shadows, who might strike at any moment.
With this Heart of Flower Language, even if he were targeted by his enemy, he would at least have some ability to protect himself.
Moreover, now that he had apprenticed under a formal wizard, his enemy would likely be wary of this connection and choose to endure and retreat, rather than continue to harass him easily.
Regardless, this magic item was undoubtedly a generous gift.
It not only represented a guarantee of survival but also gave Lynn an excellent first impression of his “convenient beautiful teacher.”
Compared to the cold, ruthless images of dark wizards in his mind, this Teacher Rosalind was indeed as angelic as her beautiful appearance suggested!
The effect of the Heart of Flower Language was to form a protective barrier woven from flowers upon activation, providing the wearer with a short-term defensive shield to save their life.
