Chapter 12

"Remember, the Seed of Life is the foundation of us Nature Wizards; it must be kept safe..."

Rosalind's voice was gentle, but before she could finish her sentence, her beautiful eyes suddenly narrowed, locking onto a flower in the corner of the room.

That flower was swaying gently, as if responding to some invisible summons.

"Hmm?"

Her brows furrowed slightly. She took a few light steps toward the flower, touched its petals with her fair, delicate palm, and closed her eyes.

A moment later, she opened her eyes, her expression turning solemn.

"Let's stop here for today. Colin, take Lynn to find the essential books. I have some matters to attend to; I'm afraid I'll be busy for a while..."

Rosalind certainly hadn't forgotten that Lynn was a complete novice, and that every apprentice and wizard within the Crucible had to contribute their share to keep the facility running.

"As for Lynn's work, let's have him registered under my Herb Garden. Colin, you take him around and help him get familiar with things..."

Rosalind was remarkably decisive, arranging Lynn's affairs in just a few words.

Of course, this was also because the most important step—choosing the Seed of Life for Lynn—had already been completed; otherwise, Rosalind wouldn't have been so comfortable leaving everything to Colin.

Watching Rosalind hurry away, Lynn and Colin exchanged a helpless look.

"Teacher is certainly efficient... but now the trouble has fallen on me."

Colin shrugged helplessly, leading Lynn through the living room toward the door to the basement.

The basement door was tightly shut, wrapped in thorn-like plants that firmly sealed the passage.

"Knowledge and books are the most important treasures for every wizard."

As Colin explained, he tapped lightly on the door. "Of course, only official wizards have the ability to possess a sufficiently rich library. We wizard apprentices can only access basic materials; being able to enter an official wizard's library is a rare privilege."

Lynn listened intently to Colin's explanation, even though he was still a long way from becoming an official wizard.

But learning this information from Colin gave him a better understanding of this brand-new wizarding world.

"Every wizard's library is set with layers of defenses, but fortunately, Teacher gave us permission just now. Let's go down."

Sure enough, as Colin tapped the door, the thorns on it slowly retracted. Immediately after, the door opened, revealing a path leading underground.

These were not ordinary stairs, but steps woven from thick, intertwined plant roots. Each root seemed to be twisting spontaneously, as if it were alive.

Lynn felt a shiver in his heart, secretly guessing that this library must have been designed by Rosalind with extreme rigor; he feared it was hidden with unknown traps and defensive mechanisms.

Guided by Colin, Lynn entered the library. Books and flowers were intertwined all around, and the entire space was filled with a faint floral scent and the smell of ancient ink, as if he had stepped into a sanctuary of knowledge.

Upon entering the underground library, the sight before him left Lynn astonished.

The collection here was extremely rich. Rows of books were neatly arranged on shelves, and each bookcase was guarded by a unique flower.

These flowers were not merely decorations; they seemed to possess some kind of protective function, giving off a mysterious and formidable aura.

Lynn noticed that only a few bookcases had their flowers "off-duty," which was clearly the area Rosalind had specifically arranged for him and Colin.

"Hehehe, little brother, come here, let's have some fun~~"

"What are you looking at! I'll eat you!"

"Hmph!"

As Lynn followed Colin, his gaze occasionally swept over the flowers guarding the bookcases.

Strangely, some flowers would suddenly form a pair of eyes and stare straight at Lynn, leaving him momentarily stunned.

They seemed to be communicating with him, and some even swayed gently, as if in provocation.

"Don't mind them, don't take it to heart, just treat them like air."

Colin was clearly long accustomed to this situation. He seemed indifferent to the flowers' harassment and continued to pull several books from the shelf, handing them to Lynn.

"*Introduction to Nature Wizards*."

"*From Nature Novice to Master of the Earth*!"

"*Travels of Life*."

Lynn took the books, feeling the aura of knowledge contained within them.

Colin continued to explain

"Becoming the Teacher's disciple is indeed a lucky thing. Those two guys who came with you earlier, even with backers behind them, couldn't possibly acquire so much material directly like you have."

"In the Crucible, if you want resources, you have to put in the effort. Everyone needs to work; only by earning Crucible Points through work can you exchange them for resources."

As Colin flipped through a book, he explained to Lynn,

"However, relying solely on work to earn points for knowledge will likely take a long time. The resources needed for a wizard apprentice's cultivation must also be exchanged with points. If you spend all your points on books, your cultivation progress might be delayed."

Lynn listened carefully. These explanations regarding the rules within the Crucible were very important to him; after all, he was a complete novice and knew almost nothing about this world.

"By the way, besides work and tasks, points can also be exchanged via Magic Stones, at a ratio of about one to one—one Magic Stone for one point."

Colin paused and turned to Lynn. "If you have Magic Stones, you can use them to exchange for points. After all, in the Crucible, while Magic Stones have value, they are also easily stolen. Points, however, are not easily lost."

Lynn spread his hands helplessly, indicating that he was penniless and had just entered the wizarding world—he didn't even have a single Magic Stone.

"Sigh, I knew it..."

Seeing Lynn's expression, Colin couldn't help but show a helpless smile. "I was hoping to get a little tip from you."

He shook his head again and continued,

"But in the Crucible, everyone's work is valuable. If I were guiding and explaining things to other newcomers, I could earn some tips in points or Magic Stones by the end of the day. But since it's the Teacher's order, I can only help you for free."

Although he said that, Colin still followed Rosalind's instructions, diligently helping Lynn collect the books before beginning to guide him around the living area of the Crucible.

Colin did his job very thoroughly. As he walked with Lynn, he explained some common knowledge about life inside the Crucible and introduced the functions of various areas.

Although Lynn felt a bit lost inside, hearing these details made him feel he had benefited greatly.

Finally, Lynn's work assignment was settled.

Everyone in the Crucible had to work, even disciples of Rosalind like Colin, who needed to serve as a receptionist in the living area's processing hall.

Of course, the receptionist job wasn't bad; it even required a certain level of strength to be qualified for, and Colin didn't mind it.

However, Lynn was a complete novice, entirely unfamiliar with the wizarding world.

Therefore, Rosalind arranging for Lynn to work right under her nose was also a form of protection for him.
