Chapter 51

Finally, after a short wait, Lynn saw a familiar figure approaching. It was Remy.

However, he was not alone; a woman was walking beside him.

The woman wore a loose-fitting wizard's robe, its oversized nature making her appear exceptionally small and slight.

Her face was not particularly beautiful, but her large eyes possessed a clarity and vivacity that immediately drew a smile from Remy.

Her smile was bright and warm like sunlight, and with a few scattered freckles, she looked exceptionally cute.

However, just as she was laughing happily, Remy suddenly came to a halt.

The woman's smile froze instantly. A flicker of fear flashed through her large eyes, and she instinctively ducked behind Remy, clearly intimidated by a certain presence.

"Long time no see, Remy."

A low voice rang out abruptly. Remy froze, turning his gaze toward the source of the sound, only to realize that the person standing before him was Lynn!

"Lynn! You're back?! Is the Furnace War over?"

Remy's eyes widened in surprise; he was clearly taken aback by Lynn's return.

Remy had been surprised when he first learned that Lynn was joining the Furnace War. It was only then that he realized Lynn was actually a student of a formal wizard, which explained how a complete newcomer could join the Magic Potion Garden as easily as he had.

He knew that all students of formal wizards were being deployed to the Furnace battlefield. Now that Lynn had returned to the Furnace, did it mean the war was over?

"No, the Furnace War hasn't ended yet, but I've returned due to some special circumstances."

Lynn shook his head and gave a brief explanation, his tone carrying a hint of ease.

Hearing this, Remy nodded thoughtfully.

He clearly did not suspect Lynn of deserting; after all, if that were the case, Lynn wouldn't be standing here chatting so casually.

"Tell me about yourself instead. I heard you've entered the core area of the Magic Potion Garden?"

Lynn turned the question around, his eyes filled with curiosity.

Lynn still felt a bit puzzled as to how Remy had managed to enter the core area so quickly.

After all, he clearly remembered that he and Remy had started studying *Introduction to Magic Potion Processing* at the same time.

Yet, Remy had managed to enter the core area even earlier than the veteran apprentices who had worked in the outdoor greenhouses for years.

"As for that, it actually has something to do with the Furnace War."

Remy pondered for a moment, his eyes flickering slightly.

"The students of the wizards have all left the Magic Potion Garden to participate in the war. For a time, the garden was short-handed, so they lowered the difficulty of the assessments. Perhaps I have a bit of talent, combined with some good luck, which allowed me to pass the assessment and join the core area."

Just then, the petite girl tugged on Remy's sleeve, seemingly realizing she hadn't introduced herself yet.

"This is Yara, an apprentice who just joined the core area with me. Yara, this is Lynn..."

As Remy introduced them, he turned toward Lynn.

"Hello, Yara," Lynn said with a gentle smile.

Yara quickly nodded to Lynn and gave a slightly shy smile, clearly feeling a bit nervous.

"Lynn, do you want to join the core area?" Remy asked next. "But the assessment tasks are very difficult right now. Why don't you try asking a teacher for help? You might get a chance."

Remy explained that there were two types of assessment tasks for the core area of the Magic Potion Garden

One was the regular assessment, which required apprentices to clearly distinguish various potion ingredients and possess certain refining experience; one could only enter after passing this.

The other was like Remy's situation, where a specific refining stage of a certain potion lacked personnel. As long as one had a certain understanding of that potion, they could enter, and the difficulty was lower.

"But nowadays, tasks like mine are very rare. If you want to get in, you'll have to go through the first type of regular assessment," Remy sighed. "And the regular assessment requires potion refining experience, which means you might have to buy ingredients at your own expense to accumulate experience from scratch."

Lynn shook his head helplessly. "The teachers haven't been free lately..."

Just then, Yara whispered, "I heard there are a few tasks in other groups that have specific requirements..."

Upon hearing this, Remy immediately countered, "Oh, you mean those tasks? They require at least the rank of a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice. Remy and Lynn haven't been in the Furnace long; we're still far from being Level 2."

Generally speaking, newcomers entering the Furnace typically needed about six months to be promoted to a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice, and the process from Level 1 to Level 2 was even more long and arduous.

An ordinary apprentice usually took one to three years to advance from Level 1 to Level 2.

As for Level 3 Wizard Apprentices, that was an even greater challenge; an ordinary person might need five to ten years of accumulation to reach that level.

Of course, all of this was based on the standards of an ordinary person.

And Lynn, as a special existence, could clearly not be described as an "ordinary person."

As Remy and Yara discussed matters regarding the Magic Potion Garden's core area, Lynn suddenly realized that the gap between himself and them had become so vast that his thoughts and actions were already in an entirely different world.

Never mind a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice—even regarding Level 2 Wizard Apprentices, Lynn had already killed countless numbers on the Furnace battlefield.

Having joined the Furnace at the same time as them, he was now preparing to break through to the realm of a formal wizard.

Meanwhile, Remy was still stuck at the Level 1 Wizard Apprentice stage, his thoughts and concerns revolving entirely around that level.

This was why Remy unconsciously ignored those so-called assessment tasks.

In his mind, he didn't associate those tasks with Lynn at all, as he had always believed Lynn was merely a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice.

In the world of wizard apprentices, unless one actively released their aura or used special means like a crystal ball, it was difficult even for people of the same realm to accurately judge the other's level.

Thinking of this, Lynn cleared his throat, interrupting the conversation between Remy and Yara

"Ahem... Remy, I have already reached the level of a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice."

This sentence instantly stunned Remy, making him think he had misheard.

A Level 2 Wizard Apprentice?

He remembered entering the Furnace with Lynn; normally, Lynn should be a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice just like him.

When Lynn joined the Furnace War, Remy had thought there was an eighty or ninety percent chance he wouldn't return. Even with Lynn standing before him now, Remy thought it was just because Lynn was lucky and had stayed in the logistics department instead of going to the battlefield.

So, hearing Lynn say he was a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice, Remy was momentarily dazed, thinking he had misheard.

However, in the next moment, he saw energy factors of frost gathering at the tips of Lynn's slender fingers.

Energy factors!

Contacting and controlling energy factors—that was the standard for a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice!

Not only had Lynn returned alive from the Furnace War, but he had also become a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice!

Remy's breathing grew rapid. He knew that if he were to reach Level 2, it would likely take him at least another three years.

Yet, Lynn had only been at the battlefield for two months!

Filled with envy and jealousy, he even felt a sudden urge to personally walk through the battlefield to see if he, too, could soar to such heights like Lynn.
