When the Female Supporting Character Possesses a Beauty System
Chapter 11: Tingting 9
Tan You thought for a moment and wrote two formulas on a blank sheet of paper. Teacher Shi shook her head and wrote two more lines beneath Tan You’s formulas. Tan You looked at them for a few seconds before smiling: "I understand now."
"As long as you understand. You are very smart; I knew you could do it." Teacher Shi was also happy. Watching a student go from barely passing math to now being able to charge head-on into difficult problems gave her a massive sense of accomplishment.
Tan You pursed her lips and smiled, "Then I'll head back to the classroom now. Thank you, Teacher Shi."
Teacher Shi patted Tan You’s hair: "Alright, make sure to get plenty of rest."
Tan You just smiled: "I know, goodbye teacher."
After Tan You left the office, several teachers began to talk about her: "This student is truly surprising; she’s improving very quickly. It’s also thanks to your patience, Donglan, explaining the problems to her over and over."
Teacher Shi downplayed it: "She works very hard herself; there isn't much I can do to help her."
The head of the mathematics department laughed: "She seems to have had a breakthrough. She really wasn't good before, so it’s clear this student just had a late start. However, I see her talent in science is limited; I suspect she will most likely choose the liberal arts later on."
"Liberal arts is also good," the Chinese teacher from the next class laughed: "Her Chinese and English are both excellent. If she studies liberal arts, her college entrance exam scores definitely won't be bad."
The teachers were discussing her in the office, but Tan You herself was unaware of it. Her primary task now was studying. Is studying hard? Naturally, it is.
But whenever she thought about her intelligence stat, Tan You refused to slack off in the slightest. For the sake of that intelligence stat, Tan You was determined to put in her absolute best effort.
Evening self-study for second-year middle school students ended at 8:40. By the time Tan You returned to the dormitory with her backpack, it was nearly nine o'clock. There was no point in going back too early, as everyone would be fighting for the bathroom at that time.
It just so happened to be her turn to clean today, but one of the girls on duty had an upset stomach and had asked for leave to go home early in the afternoon. So, Tan You had to handle the cleaning all by herself tonight, though she was happy for the peace and quiet.
Although cleaning a classroom alone was a bit tiring, because it was quiet, Tan You didn't feel particularly exhausted.
A girl who was locking up the classroom helped Tan You flip the chairs onto the desks. She had a decent relationship with Tan You, and the two would usually exchange a few words. She was a boarder, unlike Tan You who lived off-campus.
Once everything was cleaned, Tan You waited for the girl to lock the classroom door, and then they walked down the stairs together. They parted ways in front of the road; Tan You headed toward the boarding facility, while the girl went to the dormitory building across the street.
By the time she reached the dormitory, almost all the girls had finished washing up and were sitting on their beds. Seeing Tan You walk in, they didn't bother to lower their voices, and Tan You didn't greet them either, because they really had nothing in common.
Han Tingting herself was quite sociable, but Tan You was not. Strangely enough, from the time Tan You started school until she finished her middle school entrance exams, she had almost no friends in class and couldn't get along with her roommates or classmates.
Of course, Tan You didn't place much importance on roommates or friends. Instead, she felt that this state of doing things on her own was quite good. Now that she had come to this world, Tan You brought her lifestyle habits with her.
After all, they were all students; even if Tan You’s behavior was extremely different from Han Tingting’s, no one would suspect anything else.
There was no one in the washroom now, so Tan You took her hot water and went to wash up. When she came back out, the girls were still talking and laughing just as they had been before.
Some of them were holding colorful books; just by the titles, one could tell they were the kind of books young girls liked to read. Tan You felt a flicker of interest, but thinking of Han Tingting’s current situation, she stopped in her tracks.
No longer looking at the novels in others' hands, Tan You lay down by her bed and continued doing homework. She had already finished the assignments the teachers had set during evening self-study; these were extra exercises Tan You had added for herself.
At 10:10, Cao Xia and Zhou Wen returned. After Zhou Wen handed her chemistry textbook and notes to Tan You, she hurried off to the washroom to wash up.
If they waited until they were done studying to wash up, it would disturb others' rest.
After receiving Zhou Wen’s chemistry notes, Tan You stopped struggling with math and began copying them down. Since it was the first semester of the third year, the chemistry course had only just begun, so there weren't actually many notes.
When the two of them came out, Tan You pointed downstairs, and the three of them quietly headed down.
"Tingting, are you too amazing? You knew how to do the chemistry problem just by looking at it once?" Cao Xia hugged Tan You’s arm, her voice rising with excitement.
She had just tentatively asked Tan You a chemistry question, but who knew the other girl would know it just by glancing at it? And it was exactly the same as the answer key?
Tan You thought to herself, *I just went through the middle school entrance exams; if I couldn't even do these basic problems, it would be a disgrace to the title of a middle school examinee.* However, she knew she wasn't actually good at chemistry.
"I just saw it written in your notes," Tan You smiled: "My memory is pretty good; I just remembered it after seeing it."
"Your memory is really too good," Zhou Wen sighed: "If I had that kind of memory, I wouldn't have such a painful time memorizing vocabulary. This is great; if you know chemistry too, Tingting, we can discuss it together from now on."
Tan You wasn't used to being praised: "Hehe..."
Seeing her smile like that, Cao Xia pinched her cheek: "You should smile more often. Don't you look so pretty when you smile?"
It was the first time someone had complimented her appearance. Tan You was stunned. Although it was a compliment to Han Tingting’s face, Tan You felt happy nonetheless—after all, she was Han Tingting right now.
The three girls' study group continued until the final exams, by which time it was already the dead of winter. She had been in this world for nearly two months, and so far, no one had discovered anything unusual about Han Tingting.
After the second-year final exams ended, the students went home, but the third-year students had to stay at school for remedial classes. When Tan You was packing her things to leave, Cao Xia and Zhou Wen were incredibly reluctant: "Tingting, we really don't want you to go."
"Once you go back, it’ll just be me and Cao Xia studying together."
"And no one to help us explain problems or highlight the key points."
Tan You said shyly: "The teachers explain all the key points. Aren't your grades pretty good already?"
Cao Xia was proud: "That’s true, our grades have improved a lot recently. It just goes to show that you have to study with positive, motivated people."
Zhou Wen didn't want to be outdone: "Me too. I wonder what rank I’ll get in these final exams."
"But I know you’ll definitely do well, Tingting. I heard you’ve been first in the grade for the last few weekly tests."
There is another chapter this afternoon. Seeking collections and recommendations for the new book!!!
