When the Female Supporting Character Possesses a Beauty System
Chapter 4: Tingting 2
“Tingting, are you up? Hurry downstairs to eat.”
“I checked, we’re having eggs today.” Seeing Tan You sitting on the bed in a daze, a girl combing her hair nearby said.
Tan You snapped back to reality. She knew this girl was called Liu Na. “Okay, I’m going to brush my teeth and wash my face.”
Folding her quilt into a square, Tan You carried Han Tingting’s washbasin to the sink. When she saw the toothbrush, Tan You’s hand paused for a moment, but she eventually chose to put it down. After a quick wash, she followed the other girls downstairs.
Tan You herself was extremely nearsighted; she was always very careful when going downstairs, making sure to hold onto the railing or the wall. But now that she had arrived in this world, Tan You realized she had never seen the world so clearly before.
“So this is what it feels like to not be nearsighted.” Saying this softly, Tan You felt a bit dazed.
“What are you saying?” Liu Na reminded her from behind. “You aren’t nearsighted, are you? Hurry up and go down for breakfast.”
Tan You came to her senses. “I was just suddenly feeling a bit sentimental.”
As she spoke, she quickened her pace. Without the constraints of nearsightedness, she didn't have so many reservations about walking, and Tan You briskly made her way down the stairs. Just by walking like this, Tan You discovered that this body was in much better shape than her own.
She knew her own body well; because she had been chubby since she was a child, she could walk fine, but she couldn't handle even a little bit of running. But Han Tingting’s body was clearly very healthy; she rushed down the stairs without getting winded or flushed.
By the time they reached the bottom and finished breakfast in a daze with her roommates, Tan You casually grabbed Han Tingting’s schoolbag and followed the group toward the school.
Han Tingting was currently in the second year of middle school, in Class 3. Following Han Tingting’s memories, Tan You sat down at Han Tingting’s desk without any trouble.
Just as she sat down, a girl in front turned around. “They’re collecting homework; the group leader is already urging us.”
Tan You flipped through the workbook. Upon seeing the other person’s homework, Tan You felt a bit dazed. Although she had failed her high school entrance exam, she hadn't forgotten the math knowledge from the second year of middle school. Wasn't Tan You’s math homework completed quite well?
Then why was Tan You always at the bottom of the class? Soon, the girl in front answered Tan You’s question: “Copying from Wan Wei in Class 2 again? She’s the top student in the entire grade.”
Tan You lowered her eyelashes. Since she was a child, Cheng Wenhui had taught her never to copy others’ homework. Even if she didn't know how to do it and left it blank, she shouldn't copy. Therefore, Tan You herself had never copied homework.
But now that she had arrived in such a strange world, Tan You was experiencing the treatment of copying homework. No, from today on, she could not copy homework anymore.
To avoid being expelled, she had to establish the image of a diligent and hardworking student in everyone’s eyes! Tan You clenched her fists. Before the morning reading session began, she took out the English workbook that the original owner, Han Tingting, had barely flipped through, and took advantage of this time to quickly do a few pages of exercises.
Because she struggled with science subjects, Tan You naturally preferred Chinese and English. Plus, in her own world, her English teacher liked her, so Tan You poured more effort into English.
Seeing Tan You circling and marking in her English workbook, a girl next to her curled her lips. However, Han Tingting usually had good interpersonal relationships, and although they thought she was a bit strange today, no one actually gossiped about her.
While Tan You was busy doing Han Tingting’s workbook, a girl suddenly passed by in the aisle. The girl stopped at Tan You’s desk and said stiffly, “Collecting math homework.”
Tan You looked up slightly, watching the girl in front of her who couldn't hide her arrogance. Her heart stirred slightly, but she didn't say anything, simply handing the math workbook to the other person.
The girl gave a light sneer. “It’s all copied homework; is there even a point in collecting it?”
Tan You remained silent. She wasn't a talkative person by nature, but she had already understood this girl’s attitude. The arrogance of a good student, naturally looking down on the students at the bottom.
It didn't matter; she would be a good student too. Tan You narrowed her eyes slightly, stared at the girl’s back for two seconds, and then continued to lower her head to do her English exercises.
At 6:40, the morning reading session began on time. Today was a Chinese morning reading session, and Tan You followed the crowd to pull out her Chinese textbook. Seeing the completely blank textbook, Tan You twitched the corner of her mouth.
She also rarely took notes, not because she didn't listen carefully in class, but because she had a good memory and could basically remember everything the teacher said, so her textbooks were always very clean.
But for subjects like math, she took notes very seriously. Because she couldn't master math, she would put a lot of effort into it. But sometimes, things don't always yield results just because you put in the effort; that was the case for Tan You.
She had always had decent grades, all thanks to Chinese and English pulling up her average, while her math was barely passing. Thinking that her math score in the high school entrance exam was also just at the passing line, Tan You couldn't help but clench her fists. This time, she must learn math well!
After going through the Chinese textbook, Tan You touched the ring on her right hand. “System, are you there?”
She had arrived here in the middle of the night yesterday, followed by sleep, and the morning had been chaotic; only now did she have time to chat with the system. If the system was there, Tan You’s heart could be a little more settled.
The system’s voice was a bit faint. “Host, the system is here.”
Hearing that the system’s state was a bit off, Tan You was a little worried. “What’s wrong with you?”
System: “The system needs energy to transport the host through time and space. The system is low on energy.”
Tan You understood. “I will work hard to complete the tasks, but system, can we still go back?”
The system perked up immediately. “Yes, if the host completes the tasks well, the system can advance energy from the main system, and we can pay it back once the energy arrives.”
Tan You: “Like borrowing money?”
System: “Yes, so host, you must work hard on the tasks.”
How could Tan You realize she was being CPU’d by the system at this moment? She only felt that she carried a responsibility, so she couldn't help but nod heavily. “System, don’t worry, I will definitely work hard!”
“But it’s really strange, system, the textbooks here are actually the same as in our real world.” Tan You flipped another page. “Actually, after knowing my high school entrance exam results yesterday, I was a bit sad. I didn't expect I would do so poorly.”
“It’s good this way, being able to go back and study it all over again. This time, even if not for Han Tingting, for myself, I will work hard to get a brilliant high school entrance exam score.”
The system waved its little arms. “Host, keep it up! The system knows you can definitely do it!”
Tan You was amused by the system. She was also glad that she hadn't arrived at the worst possible time. At the very least, Han Tingting was still in school, so the talk of expulsion could still be negotiated.
